  1. Here is another option:

Hagon M67033 $375 or $435(US)with custom spring and valving.(not sure how custom)

    USA http://www.davequinnmotorcycles.com/cgi-bi...MONOSHOCKS.html

    UK http://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/HagMono.htm

It is a little limited in adjustability, but the price is excellent!....And the spring is RED!!!

After the Sachs unit lower eye breakage I use the Hagon for a year now. Compared to the Sachs with its hard spring I am satisfied with it.

    Hagon's spring seems more progressive.

I had to adjust the spring nut 6 revolutions stiffer.

Personally I think Ohlins is the best, with good external adjustment possibilities,

which, bear this in mind, Hagon has not.

  2. Al,

Plus voltage goes by fuse 4 and contactswitch to the jiffy switch.

The jiffy switch is bridged by contact of relay 15.

(Note: contact relay 15 is pulled by its coil when neutral gear switch connects to earth (minus voltage)).

Then the current flows via the killswitch to a branch.

At the branch is fuse 8 for the fuel petcock, and ALSO the coil of relay 49.

    (Question/Check: does the petcock open?)

The coil of relay 49 is connected via a DIODE to earth (Minus Voltage)

    (Question/Check: diode ok?)

Plus voltage feeds fuse 2 and by the contact of relay 49 in this line the coil of relay 46 "injection relay" is energized.

In order for the coil of relay 46 to be energized, the contact 19 on the ECU must make an (internal?) connection to earth (minus voltage).

(Fuse 2 also directly feeds pin 26 on the ECU)

When the injection relay 46 is pulled, current is fed by fuse 1 to the injectors, fuelpump and the coils.

    Hope this helps a bit.

  3. Hello Martin (and Jaap, for the poll?)

As I mentioned before I had the eye of the Sachs Boge shock broken at 20.000 kms.

We (forum members) still don't know whether this shock failure is common or not.

    Is it worth a poll?

Anywhey: my frame number: ZGUKR000XM...... so I expect year 2000.

Martin's Le Mans is two years younger.

So what about the frequency of occurence?

    I don't know :huh2:

My shock is replaced by an British made Hagon.

    Greetings:

    Co from Holland.

  4. Hello Martin,

Did you attend the V11 meeting in Varseveld Holland?

    I was there,

Due to bad handling of my bike during that meeting I started wiggling around at the back and discoverd play in the rear.

After further checks I found out the top eye of my REAR shock Sachs-Boge had a crack in it!!

Same as you, wasn't driving, but likewise quite upset.

Since then the shock is replaced by a HAGON shock (Britisch manf.)

Greetings and don't loose your faith in Guzzi.

  5. ...interesting that you mention owning a Hayabusa, and have considered an FJR1300....

Honestly if you are REALLY A SPORT TOURING GUY(and I'm going to get some grief for this  )... an outfitted Hayabusa, FJR1300, Blackbird, VFR, et al... are probably better "purpose" bikes for Sport Touring

There is a lot of discussion on said topic at:

    Sport Touring Forum

    V11 Forum Thread on www.sport-touring.net

And here's an interesting one I found while searching:

V11 Forum Thread On Past FJ1100/1200 Owners

But yes, the Guzzi... V11 LeMans specifically... is a great do-all bike, and lends itself well to ST riding, sport riding, or just cruising around.  Plus it's got loads of soul, and quite a bit of exclusivity... if that matters to you  :)

There is a lively topic here on how we all ride the LeMans:

V11 Forum Topic/Poll on "how we ride"

There's also a topic somewhere on "why" we chose the LeMans, but I couldn't find it off-hand.  But much of what is said there is in the "Introduce Yourself" thread.

Regarding the Hydraulic Lifters, coincidentally there is a current thread about 4 steps down the list at  ;)

    Hydraulic Lifter Thread

Take a minute to "fish around" the different sections of the forum, and the "search" function usually works pretty well once you learn to be creative  :P

There is a lot of info on many of the questions you've asked already covered in depth somewhere.  But that's not to say your questions aren't most welcome   Just a friendly suggestion

    Hope that helps!  :)

P.S.  ...yessss, I realize I get a little "smiley happy" but it honestly helps keep people from getting the wrong idea sometimes.  Better safe than sorry.  Plus some of them are just darned funny... like this one of snot    :nl:

(OH I'm only kidding, I know it's a pic of Belgium)

(...ok, ok...  now I'm really kidding, I know it's an icon for Guzzi's infamous coolant leaks  )

Al, sorry to say but your geographics are horrible!

This :nl: is NOT Belgium (our friendly neighbours) but HOLLAND,

    the Netherlands.

You know Amsterdam= New Amersterdam=New York!

    Brooklyn=is dutch for:Breukelen.

    Keep Guzzioning! :mg:

  6. Hello Al,

    On the German site V11Sport.de

The members mention the following procedure:

Grasp the grey ring, and grasp the hose with your other hand.

While holding the hose, firmly push the grey ring INWARD.

    Than pull the hose.

    Maybe this will help?

    Greetings Co from :nl:

  7. Ian,

    Nice work!

Alloow me to make some remarks.

Like Al, I do believe it is not neccesary to use the RH idle screw.

But for a different reason: is it not that by adjusting at the right hand side

you put STRAIN on the connection rod between the throttle plates?

    Greetings from :nl:

    Co.

  8. MANUAL PETCOCK:

When my 1999/2000 V11 was in the workshop for the gearbox recall

I asked the firm to fit a MANUAL PETCOCK.

On the invoice it reads: Petcock Quota/C3-INJ partnr. 291054600000.

The firm who conducted the work was TLM in Holland.

  9. Hello Guzzisti,

Also from v11sport.de this image of the corroded throttle shaft (righthand side)

Apparently water remains standing under the throttle position sensor! I keep this cavity hole filled with lub and grease!

  10. Hello Guzzisti,

I tried to remove the gearbox breather too. But it is hardly possible without removing the swing-arm. (Liitle room, maybe thick hands?) Further on I noticed, when triing to slide a hose over the breather that the radius is actually too sharp. So the hose came off very soon after. Due to this I decided to do the same thing as Al did. I added two extra plastic plates. One to shield the chock absorber, same method as Al did. The other one an rectangular plastic plate all the way down from the fork triangle to the lowest shaft/pipe that connects the "kidney"side plates. Mounting was done with Ty-Raps. Sorry no pictures.

    Everybody: Thanks for your tips!

    Greetings from Co. :nl:

  12. I own a 2000 V11 sport naked bike.

Under the bike I noticed that an extra plate has been added to provide for lugs (mounting bolt holes). This plate goes over the my leaking gearbox end cover so that I can't reach the allen bolts to check for loosiness!

My gearbox seems to have no packing only fluid sealant. The oil drops on the hot crossover part of the exhaust and gives of a burning smell.
