The 30A fuse which is still in it's original place in fusebox was blown. It was a bit swollen, and electrically open. The socket is tight and clean, doesn't look like it was getting hot from high resistance.
I temporarily put a 20A fuse in there and it start and ran, and charged at 13.3. When I revved up the engine to higher revs, it popped the 20A fuse. I had the voltmeter on the battery at this time and the charging voltage was pretty steady at 13.3V when it popped the fuse, so I am assuming regulator part of RR is good.
THe battery (lithium battery tender battery) was on battery tender overnight, and was fully charged.
Next tests I will is current draw on fuel pump, headlight etc.

Last night while riding my Scura on the highway the charge light came on and about minute or so later the bike died. I coasted to a stop on the side of the road. No tools, light, or tech info. Called tow truck and brought the bike home. I'm hoping it's just this 30A fuse issue. Tomorrow morning I will check it out and report back.
In the less than 2000 miles I have owned this bike, this is the second breakdown. The first was broken shift spring. Not too thrilled...

Welldone, man!
For best results, mind your battery conditioning . . .
So I looked at the Odyssey battery that so many recommend. Today I also got into clutch slave cylinder on my Concours 14, so bike budget is lessened. I ordered a cheap AGM from Batterysharks $41 shipped. Figure if I get a couple years out of it I'll be ok. I will keep this one on a battery tender, They have served me well on the other bikes.

Today I tried this for the first time on my Scura. The fact that my battery chose today to take a dump didn't make it easier.
I did manage to get it done using the Guzzidiag method though. My trim was +96!!!
Set it to 0 and just revved a few times stationary. Seems better. Will know for sure when I install new battery.
Still have to do decent tune-up, bought plugs and wires but need new throttlebody intake boots.

This extender and the associated massaging of shifter parts, together with the new spring made an amazing improvement in the shifting on my bike. I am very very happy with it! No more feeling around for a gear.

Big up Lucky Phil!" and all others who have worked on this stuff! "
as well as Chuck and Scud's hard work and perseverance,....
I believe the extended bracket idea originated in the fertile shop of Lucky Phil, as well as the keen dressing of the pawl arm and connecting bits.
thank you all

Today I buttoned up the shifter preselector cover on my Scura. The spring broke and installed the improved one I got from Scud, and the extender bracket I got from Chuck. Also did little polishing of pawl arm etc.
Hopefully I don't have to go back in there for a long time. Thank you to all of you who did all the research and development on these parts and techniques.
Still have to put exhaust back on and fill up oil. I really need to get a bike lift. Working on the floor is hard.

Rode the bike yesterday fpr the first time since completing the shifter work. It shifts as good or better than my Japanese bikes now. The extender bracker and the dressing of the shifter pawl parts made a huge difference. I used to be feeling around for the shift, now it's crisp, short action. Thanks Chuck and Scud and all others who have worked on this stuff!

I did finalize with Pete to get one of his plates. Thanks
-
Dave,
Pete posted in a separate thread that he had done another run and had 4 left. I sent him a message that I would take one. If that works out, I will take my name off this list. I'll keep you updated.

I will take one. Please let me know when you are back from vacation. I'll PM you my details.

If you do your own work a lift is mandatory. With the HF ones available all day for $299 with a coupon, it’s the best investment ever.Still have to put exhaust back on and fill up oil. I really need to get a bike lift. Working on the floor is hard.

Every single person who gets a lift says the exact same thing, why didn’t I get one sooner?

Yes, the only reason I haven't bought one yet is space. I'll be putting up a backyard shed soon, and that will free up garage space for the lift. I do my own work and have a couple other bikes so it will get used often.

Chuck,
I sent you an email on this...

Well that didn't take long... spring broke last night. Rode home in 1st gear about 6 miles. She got a little hot
I bookmarked the threads covering replacement, so I'll probably get into that this weekend.

Welcome IE! What's been done to her? Pics when you can. Has the clutch/flywheel been addressed?
When Mike had the bike listed for sale, he said the clutch was replaced with a RAM single plate. I believe he inspected the flywheel and it showed no issues.
I hope I don't have issues.
Here's what Mike said he did to the bike before selling it.
Suspension: rebuilt rear shock and retuned the forks when I replaced the fork seals.Clutch: Replaced the stock clutch with a RAM single plate clutch.Tube Bars: replaced the clip ons with a fat bar.Exhaust: Moto Guzzi Titanium race exhaust.ECU: Retuned using an exhaust gas analyzer when the exhaust was changed.Hoses and lines: Replaced any old hoses and lines. Removed the emissions canister etc.Regulator: added a ground wire to the regulatorGreat! The RAM clutch replacement includes a steel flywheel, and It's a complete 'bench balanced' unit. No worries now. I installed mine myself, and really like the feel of it. Sounds like it's had some love in other areas too.
Have fun with her!
Thank you! This is the one thing I was concerned about!
