  1. she's got a new battery last august, new relays in november, even tried the old relays but no difference, batterys kept upto charge with an optimate charger (cos thats how i lost my last battery through going flat)

seems strange that she will run ok if i turn ign off for 10 secs then restart and she will run ok for about 10-15 mins????

thanks for the ideas/replys though, please keep them coming as i'm sure someone will have the answer

    kenny

  2. thanks for the reply

bike will be running ok but then starts to fell like its running out of fuel and starts to miss/splutter when you try to accelerate untill it just wont pull at all

what i ended up doing today to get homew was to pull into slow lane pull clutch in and turn ign off, coast for count to 10 then turn back on and bike would run ok for about ten mins and i would have to do the same again

i was thinking that ecu was maybe resetting it self (if thats the term) and had some sort of default setting untill a senser or something changes something

i'm sure that some one has an answer for me (please!!!!!!! )

if it was the temp senser what would the symtoms likely to be???

  3. HELP!!!!!!!! my tenni has started to cut out, start bike up and go for a run, travel about 10 mins and then feels like its running out of fuel, have to pull over before she cuts out

ran with tank cap open to discount vapour lock

tried playing with cut out switch no difference

    changed plugs no difference

then found if i turn ign off, wait till count of 10 then turn back on bike will run ok for about 10 mins then do same again

i think i may have a duff ecu but hope that someone will know better

    thanks in advance

  4. been reading this thread with intrest, lots of moaning and groaning but also a lot of common sense being spoken

now this email has really stired up a hornets nest so heres my two'penneth worth

1 lifes too short, people are worrying about this email too much and reading too much into it

2 i think jaap was trying to let everyone know that the site sometimes go's way off topic and trying to pull it back into the line it was meant to follow

3 people are taking it personally when its clearly not meant that way (read the email calmly and think what jaaps trying to say)

4 we cant always like other peoples points of view, look at football, religion, politics etc to name but a few,but thats what makes us individual

i hope this kinda makes sense to everyone, theres bound to be people who will disagree with me but hey thats life, disagree with me in a way thats polite and dont resort to back handed, down right nasty personal emails as some people have said they have experianced

hey jaap(dont know you personally) but keep this site going,i know how hard it can be,how much time it can take up and i definatly know that point you must have reached "is it worth all this hassle" but in a few weeks time, weather will be warmer, people will get on with things and we'll be back to enjoying this site but most emportantly people may think about what they are posting and wether it's this site it should be posted on

spoke to dps racing who rebuilt the shock and they want it back asap to sort it for me and will pay for my p+p costs and promnise to repair it again as soon as they receive it which will be by 1pm tomorrow :)

got the vtwin a week on thursday so it had better be fixed right this time!!!

  7. i've had my tenni(0013) for nearly 2 years and no spring needed (yet) had a couple of small problems though all sorted under warranty ,had 2 sets of clocks due to misting in rain(they still do but can't be bothered anymore) and my forks changed due to gold coming off, bonus was they couldnt get any marzocci forks so fitted a full set of ohlins goldline forks and new carbon mudguard :D so i'm a very happy :mg: bunny

    cheers

    griff

  8. How did you get Ohlins forks "replaced under warantee" when the Tenni forks are not Ohlins?

They are the same black 00-02 Marz forks, simply with the gold TiN coating on the sliders.

That would be quite a deal to get a $1500+ upgrade like that for free

:D lots of complaining and speaking direct to the man at the top and not accepting being fobbed off!!!,basicaly being a pain in the ass :D ,i spoke to simon hern (one of the top dogs in aprillia) and told him i would ring him every day till i got it sorted and it worked, only problems were marz forks not in stock and when ohlins fitted old mudguard wouldn't fit so he arranged for a carbon fibre one to be fitted free and under warranty what a top bloke !!! :mg:

  9. :D:D:D just got the phone call ,my bikes ready, new ohlins forks and a new carbon fibre wheel guard all free and under warranty

thanks to cobb and jagger (no longer guzzi dealers :( ) but good enough to see my problems through to the end, also thanks to simon hern at motoguzzi for finally sorting it out

must get on to him again cos now my engine paint is starting to bubble :homer:

the joys of owning motoguzzi!!! wouldnt have it any other way :mg:

  10. ....we can hear you, honestly  :P

Anyway   ..... Question:  Clarification, are you saying the rear *master cylinder* failed, or the caliper(technically a "slave") has failed, or both??  And BTW, just in case anyone is unsure, the rear master cylinder is that gold tubular thing attached directly to the rear brake pedal by its linkage located near the heel of your right foot  :D

If this is indeed a failure of the rear master cylinder, although I am sure it has happened(especially since this part is used on many makes of motorcycles), I have not heard of any rear brake master cylinders failing via this forum  :huh2:

If however you are really saying that your rear *caliper* has been dragging, and now has seized, this indeed has been reported more than a couple times.  Do a search on "groan" or "drag" and you are sure to find more info.

In fact, we probably need a "rear brake groan" FAQ since it comes up pretty often, but I just haven't had time to get around to it these last few months, what with the new job and getting ready to move

But anyway, yes, the design of the V11 rear brake caliper seems to be mildly problematic(but sometimes more catestrophic).  I think we've only heard of one other rear wheel "lockup", and I think that one was because the screw-in locking pin on the bracket backed out, not because of a brake seize.

But, what seems to happen with regards to "groaning", dragging, and sticking of the pistons is that since the caliper is underslung, it seems to accumulate a LOT of brake dust and other crud, quite quickly.

The solution I(and many others) have found is to routinely(say every 3-6 months if you ride a LOT, or once a year if not so much) remove the caliper, hang it in a bucket and very liberally spray the heck out of it with brake cleaner.... just empty the whole darned can.  You will be AMAZED at the amount of black gunk that comes out of the caliper.  And then you'll find it doesn't drag again for another few months.

The theories about the brake line getting hot are a good preventative measure too.  As long as the line is correctly routed/clipped to the swingarm, you should be fine.  But I've found mine incorrectly routed and loose from its clips on a couple occasions, so it's good to check this issue every so often also.

But all-in-all, if this is indeed just the "dirty caliper problem", this should not be a major issue to correct/maintain.

If your master cylinder has failed though, that is a different story, and is just probably "bad luck".  In that case, check eBay for a used one from a Guzzi, Ducati, etc... as again, this is a very common unit.

    Good luck!

yes its the master cylinder not the caliper, i just thought it was strange because my brothers lemans did the same about 6mths ago and now mine has failed, striped it and there is no sign of corrosion or anything to indicate a fault but the piston is jammed in the housing

fitted a new master cylinder and its now all ok

thanks to everyone for their input :D

  11. The rear brake line sits pretty close to the exhaust pipe.  If the line (and fluid) heats up from that source, then it can put some pressure on the rear brake.  The rear brake drags, creates frictional heat, and you get more braking.  Or, if there is dirt and other crap in the rear brake caliper- and I guarantee there is- then the brake can drag and heat up.

Look at the routing of the brake line and make sure it is very clear of the exhaust.  Also, clean out the caliper (even removing it from the perch).

The other adjustment I made was at the pedal itself- I make sure there is a little 'flop' up and down in the pedal.
