Veglia white face reading twice engine rpm...
The used Veglia white-face tach I just installed on my 2000 Jackal (fuel injected) reads twice actual engine rpm! Somewhere, I read that there's a difference between such instruments for carbureted versus fuel-injected motors (could be... does anyone know if there's a "wasted spark" on the exhaust stroke, for both types of ignition system?). I also read that these tachs may be simple "electromechanical" volt meters, not actually counting pulses but measuring the average voltage they receive. In that case, I should be able to measure the resistance, add the same amount of ohms in series, and end up with a semi-accurate tachometer. Might have to open the tachometer again, as I did to repaint the needle. That poor bezel. I'd appreciate any thoughts, thank you! Feels strange riding around with a 2,000 rpm idle and what would be an indicated 16,000 rpm redline!
