  1. My yearly trip across Europe is due next week. This year it'll be Scotland (unfortunately during the international guzzi meeting in Boxmeer, like last year...)

The plan is to take the ferry to Newcastle, drive to Inverness and do some touring/sightseeing there for a couple of days. Then via a detour to Edingburgh and a day later back to Newcastle - Ijmuiden.

Any tips? Good B&Bs / sights to see / whisky to drink / pubs to visit / roads to corner / etc etc ? Anything will be appreciated, since the starting up of my new company has taken all my energy and attention the last months, so did not have any time to do research and look into it... (and visit / post the V11 forum... :( )

    Thx, KiloSjon

  2. We'll see, I heard that a lot of postal workers will be or have been fired over the last period, so maybe they have switched to horses now for extra efficiency :not:

At least, also this time ;), you manage to keep the expectations high and the fear-level low. :P Compliments for that.

Mine's also in... It is a beauty... My other swiss watch has to sleep on the couch for a while.

By the way, interesting to know that "Champagnefodbold belonnet med oprykning til 1. divsion"... ;o) (no crosswords in my danish papers)

  3. It seems that no one in Holland (3 people) have received their watches yet, so I guess the delay is on the Dutch postal system.

Customs should not be an issue as both Holland and Denmark is in the EU.

I'll look up the track'n trace number tonight to see if some useful information shows up, but dont expect miracles from the track'n trace system - last time I looked, I could only see that the parcel had left

    Danish ground.......

But I paid a fortune to send the parcels as registered and insured post, so if your watch does'nt arrive in a few days, someone will have to work hard to provide me with proper answers.

I'll keep a few watches as a reserve to make sure that all the brave souls that pre-ordered the watch will actually receive one - even if the postal system does its best to prevent it :-)))

    Cheers

    /Jens

  4. It seems that all pre-ordered watches have arrived safely and in good condition to their new owners :)

I'm most grateful for all the positive feedback you have left in my mailbox and on the forums, and your comments have created a lot of interest from other Guzzi owners.

As I'm writing I have 24 watches left, and I'm shipping watches on daily basis these days, so my stock wont last long.

  5. So you've got a full Sport 1100 exhuast on a V11 LeMans ???

It is not a 100% match, the crossover cannot be bolted to the engine and the hangers do not fit (see my custom made hangers. Currently replaced by the TI solution (short 1100 hangers with traingle adaptor). I think it is worth the effort.

  6. So with theses cans you must change the complete system? Complete, from header pies back, or just the cans? I suppose, since these seem to be positioned at a different angle, it's at least from the header pies back. :huh2:

Yes, it's from front to back. The system is high quality and very very light. It suited my situation because I already wanted to change my headers and the x-over. They where very ugly thanks to salt on the roads. So when I heard that Paul Minnaert wanted to sell this system, I had a look and bought it. I also saw it on ebay a couple of times...

  7. I have another question on this subject. I hear a high tick, like a chain tapping. It is in the same frequency as a valve tick, but its "rythm" is varying. It seems louder at 2000rpm with the throttle almost closed. I think it sounds like a disti chain, I had that on my previous bike. Reading this thread makes me a bit nervous, since the advice is to solve it immediately...

The question is: how hard is it to replace or adjust the chain tensioner? Does it require the engine to be removed, or is it just removing the alternator cover and the timing cover while the engine is in the frame?

I plan to go on a big trip in 4 weeks, so I want to have this fixed asap... :luigi:

  8. I'm 6'3" and 275 lbs (also, all muscle... ;)). I don't think the le mans is too small at all. The only thing is that after a couple of hours the legs need some space. Easily be solved by adding Buell pegs, or just take a break. The overall comfort is ok for a sporttourer, on the level of any other bike in the market (VFR, CBR1000 etc), but the le mans wins when it comes down to engine and driving characteristics (if you like it).

Go take it for a long ride and decide yourself, it's a very personal thing...

  9. Hi KiloSjon,

I have the same problem with my Guzzi.

How did you manage to get the old paint of?

Did you also take of the whole part, or did you just use al lot tape to cover the other parts?

    like to hear from you

    Rob

I used paintremover, a wirebrush (in the drilling machine and manual) and a flat screwdriver. Finished it with some fine sandpaper. And (do not forget!) carefully de-grease it with thinner.

You can of course do it while it is on the bike, but it will be very hard to get to all the places to remove the paint. You can do it for a quick fix, but if you want to do it good, I think removing it is worth while (not a lot of work, and makes your job a lot easier).

    Good luck!

  10. A GPS on a LeMans is a musthave, if you do not have one, you are sooooo behind us early adaptors, and everyone that says otherwise doesn't quite understand the power of the Guzzi Positioning System...

I have my Garmin Quest positioned slightly different, but that wouldn't work for a 2610 since it is more heavy... I think it is a great tour-enhancer, but it reduces the cool-factor of your bike (as all practical helpful stuff does, but hey, who cares?)

  12. KiloSjon, you've grasped the length and depth of the oddity. Evidently there's a chronic shortage of grease in and about the environs of Lake Como. :huh2:

Grease is a fundamental element of the Italien cuisine, and since we all know that Italiens adore food (and we like 'm for that) the shortage of grease is easily explained... (in the 60's, americans did it in their hair and also then it was well known that the number of cracked shock eyes increased on the BSA, Nortons etc... )

Since you seem to've missed this one, have you lubed the hub and driveshaft splines? Shift lever shaft pivot? How about that oh-so-controversial cush drive collar beneath the "pie plate" in the hub?

Ehm, I grease whatever I remove, so in the next 2 years I plan to grease the whole bike...

NOTE: For a simply amazing discussion with many creative justifications about why this is NOT necessary -- nay, even a FOOLISH WASTE OF TIME -- including advanced maintenance theory on the wisdom of "sweating assets", do a lookup on "cush drive".:whistle:

I did a search and I'll be smart and not start the dicussion...

  13. KiloSjon, the correct lube procedure is to remove both shock pivot bolts and thoroughly grease them. I made sure to carefully coat the bore of the shock eyes. I had no problems with the shock eyes in over 30K miles. When I replaced the shock, the shock eyes were both still well lubed. B)

Ok, that's pretty much what I did when placing the new shock, so I should have it covered. Thanks for explaining... :)

I still find it a bit odd that this needs to be done, is this only because Luigi is not willing to apply a bit of grease in the factory?
