  1. Put the reset button around the back where you don't have to look at it.

What's the purpose of the buttons in the oil pressure and Volt meter?

Speedo reset button around back. I hadn't thought about that. I need to read through the manual again to what exactly it controls other than the trip reset.

On the gauges the button sets the limit for the light to come on.

  2. So the gauges came in. I had initially ordered them with all with no front buttons but they called me after they left the art department and were headed to the assembly department that only the speedo and tacos could be had without buttons. If I had known this I would have not ordered them as such. It was too late to bach up. Now I'm stuck with the ugly cheap switch they provided and I' currently looking for another switch. I had to open up the holes for the speedo and oil gauges but everything fits now. I now need to order my LED warning indicators. I'm going with APEM 6mm panel mount LEDs. I've used these with good success on a previous project. They are rated IP67 and have built in resistors. I'm using the flush design but they are available in other styles and sizes. Once I get the holes drilled the panel will be off to be powder coated. I haven't decided if I going with flat or sating black. Although wrinkle black might be a possible color too.

  3. Thanks for the compliment! I've ordered the new gauges with no front buttons. I also plan on switching the gauge lights so they aren't on all the time. Using the park light as a feed is a good idea. For idiot light lights I'll only need neutral and fuel. I'm also adding another light for the Clearwater driving lights which will be triggered by the high beam.

  5. So I've just ordered my gauges from Speedhut. Actually this is my second order. I decided to be different. It sure was nice that they are having a sale through today. Anyway here is my template of my idea for the perfect gauge cluster. Now I have to find a buyer for my first set.

  6. Bought my JW Speaker light from here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231726087766?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Make an offer on it for $250, and they'll most likely accept it. It won't fit in your stock headlight if you have the Bosch 8" like my bike. I bought a 7" Emgo 66-65010 headlight bucket, and it fit right in. You'll also have to add some spacers if you're getting the smaller headlight. Dennis Kirk has a few of the headlight buckets, but you can find them cheaper on ebay. https://www.denniskirk.com/emgo/matte-black-7-in-z1-style-headlight-66-65010.p217664.prd/217664.sku

I notice you have the LeMans version, which should be a standard 7" bucket, but you never know with MG. The JW has the standard H4 connector, so you can use the standard wiring.

    Ken

Thanks for the assist! I ordered both parts through Amazon and should have them early next week. I still have plenty of other stuff to work on until they arrive.

To everyone else. I will try to gather some photos of the install.

  7. I decided to try the JW Speaker LED Model 8700 EVO 2.    5K on the Kelvin scale, and has a good cutoff as to not offend traffic. Can be found on eBay for about $250, but watch out for fakes. These are made about 20 miles from my house in good old Wisconsin, USA.

P.S. The smoke behind the bike is from dinner, not the bike!

I've decided to try one of these JW Speaker light assemblies. Did you also buy or need any other parts for the install? Where did you buy yours?

  8. Last year or maybe the year before I bought the Motratech kit for my 04 LeMans. At that point I was going to turn it into a serious long distance bike with bags and even an aux fuel cell. Well things change and I bought a Can Am Spyder for my long distance machine and now the Guzzi is going back to it original form so I don't need my Motratech kit. It has never been installed. I've been planning forever to put it up for sale but just never got around to it. Bottom line is it's for sale for $350.00 and that includes shipping via Priority Mail. PM me and let me know. Now I'm going to go list it on the for sale page too.

  9. I've read on a few postings regarding this subject, a dude calling himself Gargoyle mentioned a succesful conversion using Convertabars on an '04 LeMans. My question for him (should he read this) was the stock brake and clutch line retained. I tryed finding Convertabars on-line but to no avail. Anybody know the name of the company. Does anybody know of anybody who has a good riser kit that retains the stock handle bar and hydraulic lines.

So if anybody is aware of such a kit for an '02 Lemans (or V11's with similars bars), let me know. Thanks. Leon from Vt.

Greetings, I'm that dude! Here is a link for you. And yes I'm using all stock lines, no extensions and for me it put the bars right where they needed to be. I highly recommend them.

  10. I'm in the process of installing my Roper sloppage plate and just reallized that I don't know what to torque the bolts back in at. I've did several searches and came up with nothing. Anybody out there know?

  11. I have Convertabars on my 04 LeMans and I used the stock cables. I'm roughly 1.5" higher and 1.0" back. It made a lot of difference. So yes it can be done without changing cables.

    :mg:

  12. It does sound like a regulator problem but inspecting all the connections first is a good idea. Once you get this fixed I'd highly recommend installing a voltage monitor like one in the link below. I've got one installed on my LeMans and my Concours, it works great. I look at it as cheap insurance and way better than an idiot light. I mounted mine in the forward panel in the fairing with the module tucked underneath. All I see is the LED.
