    Question, since you own the Ghezzi Brian STW, how do you compare it to the Monza handling and power wise?

     

    I have an 02 GB Foglore and it seems like it has a ton of low end torque but the power band seems to fall off way sooner than the V11 Sport series bikes (which loves to be between 5 and 8 thou. rpm). I have a hunch the GB exhaust is causing this.

     

    Your thoughts would be welcomed,

    The SuperTwin as you know is a much more focused bike... it is essentially a race bike adapted for street use with all of the inherent compromises that brings. Tons of fun on the twisties, but less so on longer rides where u gotta go point A-B. I got rid of that fall-off you talk about by first dumping the stock (beautiful) boat anchor and retrictive Tubi's for some well flowing Arrows and a Power Commander which i dyno tuned. Now pulls like crazy almost all way to redline.

     

    The Sport Monza is everything we love about the V11 with one main difference - LESS WEIGHT!!! The V11 feels completely transformed by the loss of all that bodywork and subframe weight. The addition of the Mupo rear shock and dialing in the front forks completed the picture so that riding this bike is quite simply Guzzi Nirvana. The riding position is perfect for aggressive attack of the twisties, but no too much so as to kill you wrists on longer A-B riding. The carbon pipes sound perfect and the bike seems so well balanced with the stock motor that i have been able (so far) to resist the urge to tune it. Maybe some hi-comp pistons??? But then fuel economy would suffer...

    We couldn't resist the urge to give that 'Zagato Guzzi' look by polishing the valve covers....

  2. :thumbsup: Like the paint. Reminds a bit of a pre-production 1100Sport tested in MCN years back - silver/red - looked great but Guzzi never produced it.

    Those stubby cans look great - but what's holding them up?

    Are you familiar with Paul Minnaert's Daytona http://www.fastguzzi.nl - frame mods & longer s/a, would work well!

    Thanks! Beautiful bike and pipes. Yeah, that is the problem when u start finishing project bikes with paint... it starts to bring out all the other rough edges. While i may do something with the engine case, i just cant bring myself to do away with all that beautiful road-earned pipe patina. To me it goes along with the history of the bike that started with the V11. I just dont wanna make this bike TOO much a pretty-boy.

  4. I didn't see your Feb/March updates, but I've been wondering how the bike progressed.

    Good to see the photos. :thumbsup: It's certainly a different bike now, from the original model.

    It must feel quite different to ride?

     

    Yeah, it is a night and day different ride in every respect... Who knew that a V11 could be so light and flickable?

     

    finally put a little paint on her. Tried to accentuate Bruno's lines as much as possible and add some elements of vintage Guzzi.... You'll either love or hate

     

    Wait until final stickers on before you render judgement

  5. Have been riding this bike all summer and have to say that it yet another GB masterpiece. It is everything i hoped it would be and more in a sportGuzzi. Yet again shows what clowns the people in charge of Guzzi really are when they had the makings of a world class sportbike right in their hands. Thank you Bruno Saturno!!!!! :notworthy: With all the fat of the V11 lost, the rear Mupo mounted and the stock front dialed in,and the uncorked pipes, this thing is pure Italian twin riding Nirvana. I really love riding this bike!!!!!!!

     

    Have kept it in rattle can flat for the duration of the summer, and the scruffy look has grown on me with a 'track rat' kind of charm. But, plan on spraying her in a scheme that does her justice come winter.

  6. Making progress, got guys at Meinike to bend some connector pipe to attach shorties, think it came out great for grand total of $30 :)

     

    Invoking the spirit of the beer Muse, my buddy and i have been scribbling on her bodywork with magic markers, trying to nail the right paint scheme. I think we have come up with something unique that is going to do her lines justice as well as pay homage to Guzzi's racing heritage that has been lost by the modern company, but thankfully kept alive by the genius of Bruno Saturno's designs....
