  1. Thanks a ton.

Me being German, I did not succeed to penetrate the German paint firm Glasurit and find out their secrets of the Tenni color code.

    Good job!

  2. Good morning guys.

The other day I took my other bike (also a Guzzi, a V11 KS LeMans*Tenni*) out of the garage, where the sick black V11 KR *Sport* is hoisted to the work platform.

I enjoyed a day at a nearby Guzzi meeting "Kupferpaste" (copper grease), returned home and decided to postpone the Ireland trip to 2014.

Instead, i will ride to Mandello/Italy in September, as compensation :D

    See you 2014, guys!

    Cheers.

Hope you had a few Stouts on me... -M- ...TAPAtalk via Samsung Galaxy Nexus...

  3. Stuck on the way with some unpredictable position sensor problem on my black V11KR *Sport* 'Singapura'.

    Returned home to fix it.

Will take my second bike V11KS *Tenni* and try a second attempt.

Let's see how far I get... Wish I had a fresh pint of Stout here.

    Cheers from Bavaria

  6. Hi Martin

Guzzi = dry clutch. Means: no noise absorbance by an oil bath.

The noise you hear is part of Guzzi's genetic fingerprint.

In that sense Guzzi has some common genes with the other Italian lady: Ducati. Also dry clutch.

  7. Strange sound, Oni, on your video.

Buzzing and sizzling like an electric motor is running....strange noise.

Sounds to me as if your electric starter is still engaged when the engine is running.

    > can you check this please?

P.S. as for the spark plugs.

Yes they are a bit black and soothed.

Let's look into it later after the strange noise is resolved.

  8. Hi,

for details on the various brake fluids you might want to study U.S. Dept. of Transportation DOT Standard No. 116; Motor vehicle brake fluids. http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.aspx?reg=571.116  (sorry, the details will come in heaps when u click there)

More simple reading is WIKI :

    DOT3: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOT_3

    DOT4 : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOT_4

    DOT5: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOT_5

    DOT5.1: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOT_5.1

  9. Here are some of my private&proprietary principles on brake fluid:

    (i) *DOT5.1* is compatible to both *DOT4* ( the mineral oil-based) and *DOT5* ( the silicon-based).

    (ii) You may mix *4* + *5.1* .... Or *5* + *5.1*

(iii) Never mix *4* and *5*.

(iv) A brake system which was initially filled with *4* cannot be turned into *5* (and vice versa) except you do total cleaning, and replacement of e.g. seals and hoses

    (v) don't play around with your brake system!

  10. Jaap . If (if!!) i can make it from the Bavarian Alp mountains to the Irish Wicklows, why can't you make it? From Holland to the Green Island is not a day trip, I know. But it will be fun!

Anyway, I will pass through Holland on my way to the ferry, unless I decide to go thru France all the way.

  11. ... the confusing part is that the bike will start with the kick stand down, but not with weight on it.

Ken, does it mean you SIT on it and it won't start?

If this is so, you might want to check the relays.

I suspect the seat is squeezed down on the relay sockets and deforming them.

  12. The fuel pump has 2 electric contacts only.

-1-: I'd recommend to monitor those contacts (as proposed by Roy) with a simple 12V lamp indicator.

-2-: if power is interrruped : for interrupted power to the pump, there are more than one reasons:

. one of the relays is broken. Or its socket. Or its wires. ( I will have to check which relay it is )

. controller failure which dis-activates the relay. Caused by several reasons. (e.g. unwanted contact of switches. Unwanted sensor signals)

However, I'd like to understand FIRST what led to the diagnosis "fuel pump failure".

Can it not be "spark plug failure" if the bike stalls?
