  1. Congratulations and welcome, i could just picture you riding back home with that "warm fuzzy almost too good to be true feeling". well done.

After 5 years my Guzzi always puts a grin on me.

  2. Thanks Slav, I suspected that removal of kickstand is necessary.

For tires I was thinking of the new Pirelli Rosso Corsa's, they seem like they are made in a 160/60, and have heard great things for both street and track, but because they are new, not everywhere available.

    Thanks again

  3. So I did a trackday yesterday on the V11 (2000) first time using it on the track and as I got progressivly quicker my kickstand was scraping and I got spooked. What have you trackday guys done to alter this, any kcikstand mod or removing entirely?

Also while I'm at it, recommended track/street tires, dual compound? On my Ducati 1098 I use Pirelli Corsa 3 and give pretty good grip.

I currently have Pielli Diablos running on 160/60

    Thanks

  4. I contacted Mistral directly back in march this year and they sent me a set of exhaust decals.

Just send them an email to: info@mistralspecialparts.it attention Micheli and they will send you a set.

    Cheers

  5. They should just re-issue the V11 Sport, looks plenty cafe-racer to me! wink.gif

I kind of agree with Joe here, the V11 is a modern version of the cafe racer.

With a few modifications to removing bits here and there this is what I have come up with on mine.

I further reduced the position of the front clip ons by substituting originals for Ducati 999 clip ons.

  6. Well I finally got around to this minor yet annoyance on the bike and thanks to gstallions for the info which is exactly what it was. However, due to my persistance at the local gym, I managed to "snap" the bolt clean off,F#!k!

For those of you that don't know, it is a hollow bolt with a plunger.

So drained the entire gearbox and have sent an email to MG Cycle to see if they have the part.

I guess in the meantime I can run it with a suitable bolt in place.

    Thanks again gs.

  7. Disconnect the wire at the neutral switch, turn the key on, ground the wire to a good ground and look to see if the light is "on". It should be. If so, remove the switch, and clean it with electrical contact cleaner. DO remember to plug the hole where the switch was or you will have gearbox oil running out .

Thanks gs, will tackle this week-end

  8. I cannot seem to have the neutral light, when in neutral of course, come on.

And when in neutral, if the kickstand is down, the engine shuts down.

So starting the bike I must be sitting on it, with the kickstand up, no neutral light.

Is it just the sensor switch?

    Bike is a 2000 V11 Sport

    Thanks

  9. So I get a call from my dealer last night (I also own a 1098 Ducati), and he invites me to Indianapolis all expenses paid for the upcoming Moto GP in 2 weeks.

Get to hang around with the Ducati team and party with them at night, I'm ecstatic!!!!!

    Go Stoner!!

  10. For what it's worth, I installed Mistrals and a crossover with no additional ecu or re-mapping.

Bike sounds great, pulls great, no issues. No hesitation anywhere and gas mileage appears to be the same as my buddy's stock V11.

In addition I installed K&N air pods.

Just lowered the idle a touch and voila.....

Could it be we make too much of this whole ECU and re-mapping issue?

  11. Yes 54 mm is the correct diameter. I however had a set of Ducati 749 clip ons lying around and are 53mm...guess what they fit snugly and I love the position. I believe they are 7 deg. slope.

Really helps not getting that guzzi "cramp" on the palms of your hands and the weight seems to minimalize the traditional vibrations associated with the bike.

I'm pretty happy with both looks and position/feel.

To get them to fit, I simply opened them up a bit and used generous amounts of hand soap to slip them on.

  12. So I got a great deal on a complete set of used luggage for the V11.

I figured out how to install the saddle bags (Teckno) but the tank bag which I believe to be Givi (Moto Guzzi logo) is stumping me on the front straps.

Where are they supposed to be wrapped around? If you follow the protection padding they seem to be pointed towards the tips on the front of the tank.

I'm thinking maybe the steering frame, over and around?

  13. cool name man. :D ...stucatz!....reminds me of my youth in Montreal in the '60's...

very nice clean bike, ......and like, f@#$%*g eh, you've got to be Canadian eh with a Timmies in the background eh!

    :bier:

    Cheers

    Van

Yea Van, very "Canadiana" trully symbolizes our heritage, imagine how astounded Tim H. would have been today seeing his name plastered all over the country and south of the border.

I also grew up in Montreal and only left for T.O about 12 years ago, great city, beautiful women... going back this week end for a 30 yr H.S. reunion, should be fun.

Antonio, low italian eh! thats cause i hang around here with alot of former "Calabrese" .

By the way many thanks to Antonio, for helping me get some of those wonderful parts for this bike, he's great to deal with.

  14. Now I don't claim to be an expert on the V11 but something similar happened to me last year and it was entirely my fault.

I had removed the tank and when I put it back I somehow managed to "kink" the fuel hose in such a way that the pump was starving of fuel.

Check the hose could be as simple as that.

  15. Actually it's green now and it is cracked and in need of replacement.

I much prefer the green over carbon, do any of our dealers in the links carry them ? I could not find one.

    Thanks

  16. My best friend and I and of course my wife out for a boot on our V11 last night.

Had him strapped well in a backpack on my chest, well he loved it and he helped me keep my center of gravity too, in fact he was even leaning in corners with me.

I know some of may think it's a cruel thing and of course dangerous which it is but he is a thrill seeking guy and i've always felt sorry for him for having "snipped" him so early in lifesport.jpg
