...but dude! What an absolutely pearler of a shot - full of moody lighting & intrigue!
What’s the go there with that setting?

Probably didn't know what it was. Only that it looked great.

I rode over to a client who's office is in the Italian part of St Louis, "The Hill". When I was leaving there was an older gentleman with a cane (probably 80 or so)standing outside a shop staring at my bike. As I walked up to it he started walking towards me looking a bit irritated. I was expecting a bit of tongue lashing when he asked me if it was mine. I replied it was, to which he said he heard me drive up and was waiting til I got back so he could listen again. He said it had be a long time since he had hear a real Italian motorbike!

I never ever use the rear brake and it is common for the brake to "moan" on these bikes - often at low speeds when turning or with a passenger. I just ignore it, and never use the brake as it is not up to the job.
Well it is not the rear brake as far as I can tell. Going to spend Easter investigating. I gain some comfort that nobody has added a comment here that they had a smiliar noise before some catastrophic failure <_>
I do use the rear brake quite frequently as I have locked the front too many times when used in isolation. I got bored with carrying a change of underwear.
I too had a strange buzzing at certain RPMs and when braking. Turns out it was one of the front brake caliper cover that fit on the slide pins vibrating. A gentle little tweek of the tabs put and end to it.

A friend send this to me. I thought I pass it along.

IBA, 1) the hollow bolt that holds the "V" shaped stainless oil line(s) that feed the rockers may be loose or cracked---dead center top of block, aft of the timing cover; 2) there is a similar larger hollow bolt on the frame under the tank that allows the frame to act as a breather/catch tank, mine leaked there, but you describe a great deal more oil than I dealt with, hence back to 1; 3) if the leak were on the left side only, I'd suspect the magnetic ignition pickup as the point of oil exit. May be some other spots, but these immediately come to mind. Believe you can reach point 1 with a wrench from your kit and that may get you home. k
Thanks for the quick response! It's much more on the left side, but it's coating both sides. Your description of an origination point seems pretty close to where it appears to be originating...and while it LOOKS substatial, as we all know, a little oil looks like a lot when it's blowing around and coating stuff. I might shag the afternoon, pull the tank and have a look. I can't get it to run right anyway, so I suppose I need to just tear into on all fronts!
Thanks again very much!
Mine was seeping oil from the magnetic ignition pickup and the oil was spreading to both side of the bike, but primarily from the top left. As I recall the fix was pretty straight forward.

Somewhere there's a bumper out there with this guy's name on it!

I had lust and filled it w/a 2002 as well. mine needs a quick hit of the starter, pause then 1/4 turn throttle and push start again.. then I go! knock on wood I have never had a problem and I ride everyday to work and home since may 1 this summer.. ME in LOVE!
from two weeks ago,
sorry for your problems and I can sympathize, I've had other Guzzi dilemas.
Nice video! Been a long time since I've ridden the roads in Minnesota. Might have to take a trip home next summer.

been off the forum awhile, missed you guys but i got all wrapped up in my kids high school hockey team.. Yup, the Edina Hornets won the State HS Championship which is huge here in Minnesota "the state of hockey". It's like winning the Super Bowl in High School and the competition is fierce. I was not allowed to shoot the tournament (rules, poohee) but I did shoot the game that got us in.. my kid (#5) scores the 2nd goal in a 3-2 win. if you watch it you can bump up the quality in the pop up, lower right corner from 320p to 720pHD.
I'd forgotten how big the high school hockey tournament is in Minnesota. It's been awhile since I've been home.
Congratulations on the win!

Also, I think he has a couple left over should anyone be interested. His username is SpaceClam over at Wildguzzi.
Mind my asking what he was charging for the set-up?

I was walking through the cemetery this morning and saw a guy crouching down behind a tombstone. I said, "Morning."
He said, "No, just taking a shit."
TWO
When I was a kid, I used to pray every night for a new bike. Then I realized that God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked Him to forgive me.

My girlfriend was in labor with our first child. She was shouting, "Get this out of me! Give me the drugs!" She looked at me and yelled, "You did this to me, you bastard!" I casually replied, "If you remember, I wanted to stick it up your ass but you said, 'That would hurt too much'."
FOUR
I went to an extremely attractive female doctor today for my annual checkup. She told me that I had to quit masturbating. I asked why and she said, "Because I'm trying to examine you."

I was walking down the road and saw my Afghanistan neighbor Abdul standing on his fifth floor apartment balcony shaking a carpet. I shouted up to him, "What's wrong, Abdul? Won't it start?"
SIX
My girlfriend and I were making love when she looked up at me and said, "Make love to me like in the movies." So I turned her over on all
fours, stuck it in her ass, pulled out, flipped her back over and came all over her face and hair. I never saw her again after that night. I guess we don't watch the same movies.

Is that worth a point? Maybe only if it was a tattoo?
But only if it were backwards so it could be read in the mirror!

My bike...
A few of Michael's other motorcycle photos here: Michael Penn's motorycle set
As cool as his HDR photos are online, they look even better in print. I intend to get a print of this framed.

Nice shot! I'm a big fan of HDR (it seems like the Hosemaster of the 80's) but a great shot non the less. Seems that most photographers I know are fans of the Italian bikes. Hmmmm .......I wonder why?

wow. being on that rolling road must have been rather stressful....
We used to use the same set up (well a bit lighter weight) for bicycle training. It really smooths out you riding style.

Wow I need to get going! But with summer ending and a lot of riding and water skiing to do I don't think I'll have more than one done by the 7th, if even that one. But I'm thinking about $75, it takes me a couple of hours to make each one.
Count me in. Let me know when you've gotten enough finished and how you like your payment.

I'm happy to report that the bike has been recovered. There is some damage to the ignition, seat and turn signal. It's still in the tow lot and I haven't gotten to check it out yet.
