hi all poor bike has done 4 days of winter already showing few gremlins ,rev counter misted up tonight coming home ,hit a false neutral being to gentle changing up, 5th to 6th . noticed the vibes though the bars at about 4 to 5 thou . apart from that great bike , ready for some new tyres in the next few weeks .

hi after reading all about the filters coming loose ,thought i would check mine was tight ,being new to guzzis ,a little knowledge is dangerous eh .used the rear axle nut with a spanner to undo the big cover , opps 2.5 lts of oil all over the floor within seconds. not a happy bunnie . after a hour of cleaning up got back to business. the filter woes ,it was reasonable tight ,so out come the ducati oil key ,it fitted enough to give it quarter of a turn more .its tight .why on earth have the guzzi guys put a filter inside the sump . why is there no external filter ? ducati bmw ,20 seconds to change and to cut a long story short it was no tighter than the bmw or ducati filters that have never came off. put the big cover back on ,it has only 3 to 4 threads,easy to strip ,now more worried that will come off than the filter .refilled with oil ,marked the cover with a blob of paint to see if it moves . been to work and back today 40 miles ,no problem .now will buy a proper guzzi oil filter key+ guzzi filter for a easy life next time . how necessary is it to drop the sump and do the internal mesh screen ?. knowing my luck the sump bolts will be stuck solid or shear off .

hi thanks ,think i will buy an oil key and tighten as directed .hopefully have no problems ,fingers crossed , trolled though the pages and wondered what i have bought for a minute.also mentioned about added a little extra oil to stop starvation under hard acceleration.

hi just read the response ,thanks . as for the tightening of the filter ,sounds a nightmare to do . so you spin them up by hand then us a proper mg filter key to nip them up .correct ? .

hi all do i use original oil filters or pattern the bike is a v11 sport . what companys make a filter ? thanks rc.

hi all new to the world of guzzis,my user name is rac , just purchased a v11 sport ,03 plate . i hope i will like it .it will be a winter hack , it will be lagged in oil and grease to fend off the elements .it has only 3000 thou miles on it ,not for long , i have given it a oil change and had rewarded me with a skinless finger . emmm .someone down the sump nut up tight . oh well . so far i am pleased with it .it has never seen rain untill today . i hope it will last a few winters ?. cheers for now ,off to the tech section .rac.
