  1. lots'a fun when the guys gather at a coffee shop or what ever. The sound that a Guzzi makes puts those other V twins to shame and you just plain intimidate them. I have found that both the Harley and Ducati guys show the proper respect. :D

     

    You're right about the Tenni attracting attention. I put mine in our club display at a big bike show here. It sure drew people in, most had never seen one, and many thought it was a custom paint job. It was a great way to get folk talking Guzzi and promoting our club. I hope I never have to part with this bike.

  2. I finally got to see a Stelvio on the weekend. The distributors had one on their display at a bike show. No ride but I climbed aboard and liked the seating position, reminded me of my old R1150GS. I'll be interested to get a test ride and look forward to reading your thoughts on the bike.

  3. I cannot imagine these items simply worked loose over time. Did you by any chance have the bike serviced prior to the storage period? If so, perhaps that is the source of the gremlins.

  6. I have a V11 Rosso Mandello thats missing the badges below the ignition switch and on footrest hangers.They are a alumnuim colour with Moto Guzzi Eagle. Can anyone help where I can get these. If a original Guzzi part whats the part number.

    According to the parts list (available for download HERE) they are Part No. 01 51 77 00

     

    You'll find it shows the badge on the footpeg brackets on page D7, the part numbers are on the next page. I cannot find it shown for the triple clamp but they are the same size so should be the same part number. Don't know where you'd find them in stock, but someone somewhere will have them. At least they will be cheap to have posted to you being so small.

    No, I did not buy the risers here. As far as I know nobody in Australia stock them. Got them direct from MPH in the states.

  8. I too have the MPH risers and replacement hydraulic lines on my Le Mans. I know you said you don't want to replace the original lines but these are a really good piece of kit. I cannot believe the difference it has made to my comfort on the bike (I'm 6'3"). The new lines look just like the stock stuff and most people don't even notice the risers unless I point them out. It all looks like factory fitment which I really like.

     

    I ran the tape over mine and here are some measurements, I hope they help. The risers bring the bars up approx 2 1/4 inches. Brings them back around 1 1/8 inches. As Dan mentioned the bars also get spread wider, I agree with his comments that this is a a good thing. The measurement from bar end to bar end is now 30 inches (stock bar ends).

     

    The risers are installed angled towards the rear, they are designed this way. There is no problem with clearing the fairing if they are installed this way. If you want I can take some detail pictures and post here, just let me know.

  9. Welcome phordman, and congratulations on adding another Guzzi to your stable. I too have traveled this road. I have had my Norge for two years now. Earlier this year I added a Tenni to my humble collection (is two bikes a collection?).

     

    I find the V11 is a great counterpart for the Norge. The Norge is a lovely, comfortable, civilized thing, with the heart of a Guzzi beating within. The V11 is a pulsating, primal, soulful beast in comparison. There is nothing subtle about the Guzzi experience on a V11. And yet it is also an easy bike to live with. Having both bikes may just be the best of both worlds.

    I cannot believe that the fuel tank size was not increased for this version. Sorry, but 18 litres is too small and would be a deal breaker for me. Presumably this bike is designed to compete against the R1200 GS Adventure which has a 33 litre tank. Thats a big tick in the box for the Beema for anyone wanting to do the type of serious distance riding which is exactly what bikes like this are for.

  11. Jeremy Clarkson is extremely anti-bike. Actually I suspect he is anti anything that does not fit in with his own view of how things should be. The annoying thing is he is quite amusing, just be sure not to take him seriously. I think the car he tests in this video suits him far better than the Atom, at least he does not have to worry about the G forces :PClarkson goes to work

     

    I think the Atom is really quite a great thing, if you like cars that is. For me the whole issue of top speed, acceleration, corner speed etc are less important than the way a bike makes me feel. But that's just me.

  12. I've not had the chance to ride a Bellagio yet, but i hear nothing but good things. It would make sense to use the engine in more than one model, it is the usual practice so if this story is true you'd have to think this would be the engine. ATM it is the only one used in just one model. I reckon you're right Pete, this would be a real seller, if it is priced right. Look how well Ducati is doing with their "Sportclassic" range. No reason Guzzi could not do similar, have a naked, and also do a half faired model along the lines of the V11 naked/V11 LeMans.

  13. Nice one :D Congrats on the Tenni, your life is now infinitely improved. There must be something about these bikes, I got rather wet riding mine home after buying it. Anyone else? Is there some kind of "twilight zone" thing going on with these bikes? :P

  14. Good job Steve, looks great. I have to do this job in my future, it looks much more achievable to me seeing such good results without engine removal. I'll probably give this a try, maybe after the house painting is done....

     

    At the risk of asking a question that has been asked before, is there a particular Harley paint to get, a part number maybe? Or is there basically one Harley engine paint so you can't go wrong?

  15. A question please.

     

    How would someone know that the bike they are buying has had the work done? Also will there be some list of engine numbers to indicate which bikes have been delivered from the factory with the good parts in them? In other words, at what engine number do the bad parts stop and the good bits start? Without knowing this I imagine potential buyers would be very wary of handing over the cash.
