  1. I'm worried about my clutch, think its got to be the clutch, sounds like a midget in there with a hammer at low speeds when cold, doesn't seem to be there when hot so I have to wonder if it is something to do with the hydraulics and the clutch because it is setup to grab dang near the very end of the lever. also when cold shifting isn't as smooth, going into first I sometimes get a false nuetral. maybe I should have it looked over, or at least goto the local guzzi club meeting and let them kick the tires for some free advice.

By the time its hot, the midget is too worn out to pick up the hammer. So drown the wee fella in Redline.

  2. After six years of the standard bars, I guess I`ve got used to them, despite having arms that are shorter than a very short short thing. As for the steering bearings, they`re next, just as soon as my supplier delivers my swing arm brgs so I can build the back end up and remove the front. The drive side brg was totally shagged after 22,000 miles. Lack of grease! I think they packed them with olive oil and pesto at the factory. I`m not expecting much from the front. Twats!

  3. Hi Guy,

Thanks for the feedback! And for the hospitality offered. Don't know if I'll be taking you up on your offer, i'll see how it goes.

Forgot to mention, that I'll be avoiding cities too. The cities/villages in the itinerary are just to give you guys a global direction.

Btw, does anybody know a nice bike or WWII airplane museum that's not too far from this route?

    Thanks again!

Hi Jaap. If you could get yourself over for sunday morning 17 may, you could visit duxford air show- http://duxford.iwm.org.uk/server/show/nav.178. Even so, you could still visit the air museum any day. Not too far from Thetford, just off junction 10 of the M11 motorway. And as for roads, it`s a great pity you`re not going to Wales.

  4. Had to send my tri-oval titanium end can back to Quill ehausts recently as a small crack appeared in a weld on the inlet to the can. Got the can back last week and stuck it on today. Fantastic service, lifetime warranty. They didn`t just weld up the crack, they replaced the whole end of the can, even repacked it with new packing. And the sound? ooooooooooh aaaaaaaaaaaaaah dribble dribble.:grin::grin:

  5. It all depends what you want. I certainly didn't find my 1100 Griso wanting and my Scura goes like a cut cat but I really like the 8V motor even though its potential has a way to go before it is realized. I'm not saying the 8V is neccessarily 'Better', just different and I also like the novelty of the design.

    Pete

I suppose I need to ride an 8v before I can make a comment on it really, but at the moment I`m not ready. "Showroom fever" the wife calls it when I walk into a dealer and see the right bike. I just gotta have it. Been fancying the Griso 1100 since they unveiled the concept bike a few years ago, then I walked into a guzzi dealer to buy a new crash helmet and came out with a griso. I just hope to god that they don`t have a nero in there when I go for some filters.

  6. After just servicing the 1100 griso, I was giving the fresh oil a good workout, and I was pissing myself laughing `cos I was having so much fun. Then my thoughts turned to the 8v. Bit of a bummer to start with but at least guzzi has got on to it, but why would I need anything other than a griso 1100. A barrell of laughs in the real world where horse power means f**k all but the right attitude means everything when you`re giving it a handfull. Maybe one day, someone on an 8v will be having the same fun as me now that guzzi has got onto the cam issue.

Weather is looking good for tommorow too, so bollux to cutting the grass and weeding the garden, I`m off to clip a few hedges with the griso :race::lol::lol::lol:

  7. Any type in particular?

I take it you also have / had a Norton?

redline shockproof in g/box and carc if you can get it. But even silkolene will do.

And yes, I do have a `73 commando 850 interstate.

  8. I`ve put a quality synthetic in both the carc and box, same oil in both. It doesn`t break down as quick as mineral stuff, and 1 litre is sufficient for both, so change it often.

  9. Hi Andy, and welcome. we`re both new here.

Andy, what about a trip, 22-25 May?

    Team up with Commando Tod

Can`t make it that weekend I`m sorry, but I`m off to the Coupes-Moto-Legende in Dijon on the 28may-01june For great roads, great classic bike festival and lots to drink. If anyone wants to come along with us, you`re more than welcome.

  10. I appreciate the offer Belfastguzzi, but as I drive a truck for asda, easter bank holidays are a bit of a no-no with them. I get well compensated for it (single time and 2 lieu days, making 4 extra holidays in the process). I have to book my hols well in advance, and have done for the rest of the year. But when I am let loose :bike::bier::bier::drink::vomit::wacko:

  11. Thanks for the welcome. I`d be happy to share a single malt with anyone who appreciates it, as for bourbon, Jim Beam black label is my fancy at the moment, very easy, caramely type of taste. ;);)

Right, now I`m off to find some thermal conductive paste (sensor issue).

  12. Well hello everyone. The name is Tod, I`ve had various bikes (and never been without one) since I was 15, that was some 37 years ago. so do the sums yourself, I`m getting too old to remember my age. Fairly competent with a spanner as I done an apprenticeship with a Morris/BMC dealer, (remember them?) but not with electronic thingamybobs. (why oh why did they ever get rid of whitworth). I enjoy a good ride out, particularly to the coupes moto legende in dijon, france. Single malts, sitting by the campfire, and talking boll*x. Which is a very very good reason to go for a ride out in the first place. Lots of other interests but won`t bore the nuts off you with it here, keep that for the single malt and the campfire. ;)
