Forget the Volvo Jaap, as good as it may be(my current family. hack is a 2004 XC90 with 200,000miles and still behaving exceptionally well) Take a look at the series 3 station wagon behind you.Now that is something different!!
All you need is a firm grip and a selection of hammers.
Old LandRovers... No sorry, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. Talk about unreliable money pits!

Shame on you,Jaap. I didn't mean to drive but merely to fettle and grease and generally use as a mobile "man shed" to avoid all unwanted attention from the better 1/2.
Driving one is akin to putting wheels on a dilapidated garden shed and powering it with an old lawn mower engine.
No wait, that would probably drive and handle better than a series Land Rover...and it would definitely out perform one.

Mines a 5cyl diesel and by a quirk of fate seems to be very reliable.Had it for 18 months or so and only replaced one rear wheel bearing as well as normal servicing.2 previous vehicles were v70 d5's both excellent

All the best from yours truly.
2014 and 2015 were seriously bad years from my experience so I sincerely hope 2016 will be better.
At least this forum is one constant I can depend on.
Thanks to all of you.

Many thanks for providing us all with such a wonderful, informative and entertaining site.
I am fortunate to have met you in person and so can confirm first hand what a great chap you are.
I for one would like you to take whatever financial rewards you can.(running a 1200sport can be a very expensive business)
Andy.

Its too late for me to request it off, but if I am free, I'll be there with bells on.
I won't know until middle of june...
Looks like it could be the Allihies area. Very nice location.
Hi Dave, have you any more info. regarding the meet up in late July? I presume it's the same as the one I've just agreed to go to on the MGClub forum.(damned traitor I am)
Not been around for some time; not since a serious fire at my workshop in July last.My fault, alas, but with all the relocation and insurance haggling I have not had the time to do anything else.
Thankfully Insurance Co. have now accepted liability so I can start things again.
I've already decided to treat myself to another Guzzi or two.Not sure whether to get a Mk1 Lemon or a Daytons Rs type thing.
Hope your O.k. and hope to see you soon.

Does anyone have a view on Bikers World in Coleshill, on the outskirts of Birmingham?

Morning all.
This questions for you Mr Belfast.
I want to remove the oil cooler on my 8v and replace it with a more conventional design in a more conventional position allied with a different set of exhaust pipes. How you seen this type of mod before or can you see more than the usual no. of pitfalls?
I,m presuming that the usual oil cooler outputs in the block are merely blanked off.
Looking forward to meeting at Sheep Island.
Andy Roo
I must have missed this post.
Did you do the relocation, Andy?
I certainly did,Dave, relocated the Griso to the dealers in exchange for a 1200sport8v.

No, I wasn't aware of AF1. I see it now, thanks – based in Texas.
I will make something up myself. For starters, it will be stronger. I'm going to have to use other security in future when parking: the steering lock is only an honest person's lock.
Hi Dave, sorry about yet more bad luck.
I can get you a complete 3 pce.lock set for approx. £180inc.vat or just the steering lock for£80.
Have a look on Speedaway web site for yourself and you can price anything for your bike. They no longer do Guzzi spares now-got fed up so gave up.
See if the prices compare with what they quoted me.
cheers,
Andy.

I need to get my pegs lowered, and have been thinking of the Motobits. I'm not planning on raising the bars (yet) - I think I can live with them.
I know the pegs need to be lower, but I'm not so sure about moving them forward - esp if I don't raise my bars. Looking at the seat-to-peg layout of this bike, it seems to me that it might be even more comfortable if the pegs were lowered and moved back, instead of forward. Has anyone tried this? Are there any kits that would make this adjustment?
Morning RHIP,
I don't know where you are but if you do decide to change to cafe sport style handlebars I have a complete set of parts that I am thinking of selling.

Andy;
I'm not aware of a source for the logo. Are you looking at needing to repaint this part of the bodywork? I've got a Rosso, and all I can think of is for you to get a good image of what it looks like and for you to then have a decal made, or get it painted to go back to the stock appearance. There are plenty of images of the Rosso available online, but if these don't do it for you, I could try to photograph mine and get it to you. Good luck - this is a fantastic motorcycle!
I agree completely RHIP, it is indeed a very good looking V11.
As a last resort I,ll take the piece along to a place that makes decals and get it reproduced but many thanks for your kind offer.I haven't been able to find a copy of the logo anywhere on line.
Yes i'am going to repaint the seat surround. No laquer means it's got lots of little marks on it so I'd like to bring it up to the same standard as the other painted parts. My next problem is to match the paint but that will be another story.
While w are talking of the Rosso Mandello I wonder if you've heard anything of 'MUDDY' who started the Rosso Mandello register. He's not been on line for quite a while.I've P.M.ed him but had no reply.
Thanks,
Andy.

Hi All,
Has anyone found a supplier for the Rosso Mandello logo on the seat surround, or failing that has a copy of the artwork so I can get a couple made. I've checked in the Ref. section here but can't find one.

Hi all,
Is it still impossible to find an "original" carbon fibre front mudguard for an Ohlins fork?
My Rosso Corsa lost its mudguard during an encounter with a deer last autumn and my workshop has failed to find a new one.
Ciao
Ken
There is a C/F mudguard on ebay, from a manufacturer in san diego. It looks good and who would know it isnt original!!!. But i have seen originals on ebay quite regularly,Or have you tried reboot guzzi spares they are/werebreaking a cafe sport so they may still have the mudguard.
Gary
I bought one of those fenders from that guy in San Diego .He lost my order or some excuse and kept my payment for weeks. When I emailed him he was apologetic made excuses and after another couple of weeks sent something that looked like crap from a bent mold or something.I wouldn't put on my bike and gave it to a friend to give someone for a track bike.Very disappointed!!check his feedback.Maybe he should stick to car parts.
Likewise I bought one from the same guy. off E.Bay.
6 weeks later still no part arrives so I contact him. He's once again v.apologetic and says it will be a week to 10 days.A fortnight later I contact him and say I can't wait any longer. I hear nothing from him and have to resort to reporting him to E.Bay and claiming the money back thru' paypal. Mind you,I should have known better as I bought a pair of c/f sidepanels off him a couple of years ago and had to wait several months for them to arrive. When they did they were not as per. original.
Perhaps I,ll learn this time!!
Andy.

Sorry to hear of yet more bad news, Dave.
As you say, if only it had been the bloody Griso.Mind you, would you even have wished it upon some poor unsuspecting thief? Then again it might have made them consider going straight!

I am riding THIS actually,
I bought it the DAY before it snowed and only have about 50mi on it so far got it for a song $3k and already an extra $1k into the damn thing for upgrades and personalizations, I have problems. I have always had that urge to own a duc, now that the urge has been fulfilled I don't think I'll ever need another Ducati what a effin money pit they are. Going to meet the Manic salamander guy in person tomorrow at Bob's Java in uptown(Mpls) and he's going to fit some throttle lock weights on it for me, he is bringing the regular and pounders just to see which fit and look best.
I miss my RSVR like nothing else, too bad I'll probably get a KTM before I get back to aprilia, oh I will be back though, such a solid built machine and felt like it was made with my body type in mind. I rode it to the UP MI from MPLS which was just over 7 hours each way, 850mi in 2 days non stop but for fuel. I worry I couldn't go half that far on this Duc.
I got a new helmet too, so far love it, granted not many miles on it yet.
and I got this tank bag, its awesome
Next summer I'm either going to get a Griso 1100, KTM Super Duke or a Aprilia Tuono for a town bike and probably keep the ST for longer rides with the luggage options.
I'm still here, Might be back to guzzi someday soon. I regret the hell out of selling my goose but I feel that once a guzzista, always at least a little bit of one.
Cracking looking Nolan. What model is it?
Andy.

Just wanted to add that it's truly an honor to have so many dedicated and accomplished riders giving me advice. The internet truly is a wonder.
As is THIS :notworthy: :notworthy:
what parts of what models is this red beauty?
Anyone know?

Skeeve, he is looking for spoke wheels, and then you have lot's of Cali wheel to choose from. But changing to 18" will make the Centauro even uglier than it is already!
Shame on you Jaap, calling the Centauro ugly.I see the the Swan within.
No, your right, it's seriously pig ugly, even for a Guzzi, but then thats whats so attractive about it.It was made when Guzzi were still interested in making individual, distinctive (o.k. strange and ugly)bikes.
Maybe I forgot the Griso...
And the Stelvio.........
Of course your right about the wheels.
I don't want to turn it into a cruiser Skeeve, but it's hardly an out and out sports bike...non of them are(MGS-01 exempted and possibly a few others in there day}I just want to personalize it and I like the look of the wire wheels on the Cali.-only available in 18". If it handles like my Cali. I'll be more than happy.I've other bikes to go fast on.
Thanks for the input,
Andy.
-
theres one for sale on the GB club site
Thanks but I'am after an alloy rimmed wheel. The Cali3 is steel.
-
Hi all,
I've just purchased a '99 reg. Centauro Sport. 'cosmetically challenged' was how the vendor accurately described it.
The wheels desperately need refurbing and while considering this I thought it might suit the bike to have a set of wire wheels fitted. The first consideration is which ones will fit?
The second would be changing the 17" front for a more readily available 18" diameter wheel.
Can anyone offer pros and cons regarding handling, if this mod is carried out?
Thanks
Andy.
How do I use the factory stand?
in How to...
Posted
I have factory stands for both my V11's
I have used them for the last 8 years and have never been able to use them easily....every time I try to put one on or take one off a stand I always think I'am going to a. write the bike off b.severely damage anything nearby ,and c.risk a groinal hernia.
They are one of the typical Mandello ideas that looked good on paper, appeared to be a good idea at the local coffee shop/ wine bar and ended up as totally useless and even downright bloody dangerous!!
Also, in typical Mandello fashion they are still available after 15 years or so, totally un-changed.
And they still don't work properly.
Oh how we love such Italian eccentricities
