  1. +1 on Pirellis, I especially like Diablo Rossos on the V11, but my riding style might be little more sports orientated than original poster. They nice and grippy on a heavier bike like the V11 and you can get your knee down in confidence. Having said that they wear very evenly (as long as you don't spend too much time on motorways of course) are very good in the wet and I still have plenty of wear in current 3,500 miles pair. Not tried the Angels so can't comment. I didn't like previous Bridgestones as much, can't remember which ones now but they weren't the BT023's they sound quite good but I'm happy with Pirellis so won't be changing brand.

  2. I've ridden a few and enjoyed most of them in different ways, I'd love to ride an MGS, I love sports bikes and the guzzi engines what could better? I'm not a huge fan of Cali/custom style riding position. All of the models I've ridden have had addictive engines, patchy gearboxes although my V11 box is one of the nicest I've ever used on any make.

  3. Dear all,

I just got my MG Club membership renewal letter...

I thought apart from copies of Gambalunga which contained no articles about V11s at all over the last 12 months and barely any references to them...what exactly did I get from my membership?

This led me to ask myself am I a Guzzi fan generally or a V11 fan specifically. It may come as no shock that although I can appreciate other models (especially the early 850 Le Mans, the 1000s, Daytona and of course MGS) no was the real answer, In fact a Cali/Nevada etc is my idea of hell.

This forum however is OUSTANDING and has genuinely saved me wasted money and effort :notworthy:

I have therefore decide to donate to the forum instead of renew my MGCGB membership.

    I thank you

  4. WTF is going on with the weather...I can't remember a year as wet as this in my motocycling life (22 years) - AND WE@VE GOT A HOSEPIPE BAN due to drought. The world has gone mad and I might just up stick and move to the south of france...oops forgot..the French authorities are doing everything they to make motorcycling impossible. In the UK it just rains instead.

And before anyone bites I ride all year and don't mind the wet, it's just I'd expect a bit of a dry road in June!

  5. Taken from Wikipedia

An old fashioned tradition in Canada and the United States bans the wearing of white after Labour Day. Explanations for this tradition vary; the most common is that white is a summer colour and Labour Day unofficially marks the end of summer. The rule may have been intended as a status symbol for new members of the upper and middle classes, in the late 19th and early 20th century.[1][2]

Oh right...erm I'm from Lancashire so this cultural reference was way over my head!

  6. Thanks Yeahoo,

The Mistrals are looking good, they cam eback to me directly with a good price...and the Euro exchange rate helps too for us in the UK. I'm still curious about the MIVVs though...anybody?

  7. I got this one from my mate Paul, owner of Cornford Amplifiers...I only got it because I'm British and have young daughters who watch TV 'talent' shows and like pop 'music'!

What's 3 inches long and only goes in one direction?

  8. Sorry PDoz  but you make a good point about Arai, SHoei and other top brands working out good value in the long run.

my conclusion is fit is king. Hopefully I'll never properly 'test' my hemets again and that's always a thankfully very rare occurrence. However, I wear mine most days, so comfort, wind noise and ease of visor use are what I look for - and a coo paintjob !

  9. Guy Guzzirider, whoever warned you away from Twiggers must have some sort of agenda/ screw loose. :2c:

I've been a customer of theirs since '95 before they were a Guzzi dealer (about '99 I think) :mg: . I have never had anything but outstanding service. Not only is Twiggers (Loughborough) probably the best Guzzi shop in the country it's a top bike shop whatever make you ride. More importantly for this forum, Mark and Dave, the owners, both ride V11s (a sport and Tenni respectively) and know them upside down and inside out. They're one of a sadly dying breed a proper family bike shop who do it because they're passionate bikers :notworthy: . They can't afford to compete with the stack em high chainstores, but they know their V11s, make crackin tea and never take the piss on reapirs service or sales.

I get all my work done there and I live in Folkestone - that's a 400 mile round trip! :bike: And Loughborough is fairly central for most Englsh cities and easy to get to, just don't turn up expecting a designer show room with leather armchairs and cappucino served by Susanna reid  (sorry I went off into fantasy lad there)!

  10. My Quantum is exactly ten years old and I ride a lot. You're dead right mzkyc I should have changed it a while back $60 a year for a helmet is amazing value. Love the comment about HD riders. I don't think they need hemets either as their heads are probably solid concrete in the first place LOL.

I'll end up buying an arai...

  11. My first hemet was an Arai, my dad swore it was the best thing out there - in the 80's it probably was, still is probably. Since then I've ALWAYS had an Arai. They fit wonderfully, beautifully finished and frankly the double D ring is the perfect design for a snug strap every ride. However my quantum F is looking a bit tired and is probably due repalcement... I will buy another Arai.

BUT is it worth shopping around? If so which brands are as good/ better? Or am I simply so loyal to Arai that of I bought a

nything else I'd find fault with it?

And I thought I throw in a poll for fun.

  12. At last I was able to throw the V11 round some DRY roads, after utterly the wettest spring I can remember, including a long sweeping left hander grinding away the side stand in the process - happy days!

  13. Nicely put! The V11 is an enigma and I'm your archetypal power ranger sportsbike nut - I've become passionate about my V11 more than any other bike I've owned with the possible exception of my first proper bike, my white with blue stripes 250LC.
