  1. A friend of mine owns a Street triple and i've ridden it a few times but it doesn't suit me. The torque is almost everywhere in the rev-range but it's whining like crazy and to nervous to ride (for me). The same goes for the Tiger 800 only more whining. But that motorcycle is really awesome. It doesn't matter if you drive 50km/h or 150km/h, it vibrates the same and it keeps on going. But, i'm no three- of four-cylinder guy. I'm an two- an one-cylinder one. For me, nothing beats the vibration and sound of a Guzzi. Not even a BMW boxer or the straight two-cylinder like the F800 range. They don't vibrate like a Guzzi does.

What can i say, Guzzi has the good vibrations for me (as does same medium sized all-road thumpers).

  2. Are they not all the same........... they look like it??

Well, the aluminum eagle emblem for on the alternator cover is slightly bend/curved because of the roundness of the cover. The other one's for on the porkchops are flat. I don't know if they're also lengthwise the same, but this is the difference that i know of.

  3. Well, maybe i've found the holy grail of the V11 painting codes or/and paint recipe's...... I was searching for the paintcode for my rockercovers for my Café Sport and through some carpaint website's etc. etc. i've found the AkzoNobel search mode for car paints. There i found that Moto Guzzi motors was also in the list and when you search you're color, you can get a complete recipe for all kinds of paint mixtures.

I've yet to find a painter who uses AkzoNobel paint an try it. So i can't yet confirm of these are the right ones. I'm going to try it this spring when i'm going to let my rockercovers get a new finish.

  4. The V11 Sport is meant to have a tank size of 24 litres I'v only managed to fit 20 litres when I ran out of petrol. Is tank 24 litres?

Actually, a V11 tank can only hold approximately 21 (20,7) liters of patrol. Anyway so says my ownersmanual of my Café Sport.

But if you have managed to completely driven your tank empty, you must have wobbled alot to get that patrol from one side of tank to the other side of the tank :D .

I've once managed to do the same with my old 1100 Sport

  5. I can barely manage to get 1L/15-16km if i drive relaxed or highway kilometer doing a steady 130km/h. When i'm of the highway and i can really hit the throttle, i'll do about 1L/13-14km. That's with a totally original V11 Café Sport.

  6. Hi everyone:

The steering damper on my 1995 1100 Sport has leaked out all its oil and doesn't dampen the steering at all. A damper if you can get it costs around 250+USD.

I was wondering if anyone has found a generic damper that can be made to fit the bike? Alternatively, what are the risks of running the bike without a damper? Do these bikes tankslap readily?

    Thanks,

    Jason

    Hello Jason,

You might wanna check out Reboot Guzzi parts in France. They have a Sport 1100 right now up for parts. The owner is English so that won't be a problem in the language area.

Here's the link for the Sport 1100 parts. He still has the steering damper and it's just 42 pounds.

    Good Luck with it!

  7. It was available for V11s as well. Just don't know now what year, but I've definitely seen it once. Maybe search the different shop manuals.

    Hubert

Well, the V11 Ballabio's and Café Sports have two cables running from the gashandle. I've "lend" a picture from an online shop to show it.

I don't know if you can just swap the gashandle (and cables) form you're current V11 with that of a Ballabio, without further adjustments, but we will see you're progress upon improving you're ride  I hope it'll help!

  8. I just carry a spring.

Part numbers in the FAQ section

    Cheers

    Guy

It was so obvious.... I read the repair thread a couple of times just to know what to do and the partnumbers are already mentioned there.

Anyway, thanks for mentioning it. I'm going to order both the spring and pawl-arm just in case.

    Regards,

  9. I believe MG brought out an modified arm which the spring hooks onto with a smaller diameter boss, so the spring is less strained.

My Rosso Corsa had one fail, which was at about 4000 miles and was fine afterwards. Helen has had two go in the last 22000 miles- always carry a spare in the toolkit.

Is that spare the modified arm or the modified spring or both?! And, what partnumbers are they, because i also want a spare with me for my V11.

Better have one with you and don't need it than need one and don't have one with you.

  10. ??? :huh2:

    Best regards!

Antonio is telling him about an engine-tuner, Ruud in Goes, who can adjust you're standard ECU on a dynamo so it will suit you're wishes/demands. A few years back he payed € 200,- for the adjustment.

And sorry, i don't have any experience with the racing ECU. I know someone who has one installed in his Coppa Italia with the Titanium mufflers, but all i know is, that i'ts going like hell...... More of everything, hp, torque, speed, sound.

  11. Yes it is a lovely bike. Registered in 2007, I think a 2005 model, with only 4300km on the clock - It looks new!

I'm going to leave it with TLM over the shitiest part of the winter, pick it up ealry next spring - if I can wait that long!

I'm turning into a fairwaether biker as I get older!

    Thanks for your advice.

    David

Congratulations with you're V11 Cafe Sport!! I bought mine (also a Café Sport) also at TLM last June with a lot more km's on the gauge, so i'm kind of jealous.... They sell very fast here in west Europe so you're a lucky one with one in such condition.

  12. Remove the oil pressure switch and take it with you to an automotive shop and ask them about borrowing an oil pressure gauge & proper adapter to check oil pressure. As I stated it is a metric machine thread and not a NPT thread.

OK, dumb question. I have only an owner's manual. Where is the oil pressure switch? I see a Y fitting with three hoses in front between the cylindars- that is all I can see.

If you're still looking for a Workshop manual, than take a look at this link and download both manuals for the V11 + the update.

Always handy when you're working on you're bike.

  13. Well Hello Evan, welcome to V11 Club. Nice looking V11 Sport. That's the first Guzzi where i fell in 'love' with led to me recently buying a V11 Café Sport (after selling my Sport 1100ie).

This is my V11 Café Sport 2004 (haven't posted a picture on the forum yet).

  14. Too right Jaap- you rarely see anyone under the age of 55 in a Guzzi dealership these days. Some interesting new sporty bikes that are not cruisers or roadsters will help bring fresh blood to the marque.

The other whisper I heard in Mandello is that watercooled motors are on the way- although I love old aircooled engines, if watercooling helps bring Guzzi into the 21st century then it will be a good thing.

    Guy :helmet:

You barely see anyone under 50 riding any make of motorcycle these days

Well, that's somewhat true. In Holland there are a lot of young people who have gotten there motorcycle license the last few years but don't own a motorcycle. They find them to expansive (for the one's they like), not enough knowledge on the tech stuff or don't have a place to park it, etc. etc.

I myself am 28 years old and i've been riding a Guzzi since my 24th. My motorcycle friends still think i'm a nutter but i hold fast on my love for aircooled transversed placed engines with shaft drive.

  15. I don't know how accurate they get with the GPS mount but my Ballabio bars are 28.6mm diameter in the middle.

Mmmm, interesting. Now i don't know if the Ballabio handlebars are painted black, but they look like they are, then i can understand why the diameter is larger then those on the Café Sport.

I think i'm going for the oversized one, namely the 32mm diameter (30mm doesn't exist.... <_ it better to fill in the diameter gap than having widen of clamp gps-mount.>

Thanks for the replays. I'll post it when i've got both of them together :D .

  16. Hello fellow Guzzisti,

In about 9 days from now, i'm going to be a proud owner of a V11 Café Sport. A few days after that, I'll be heading with some buddy's of mine to the Eiffel in Germany to do some serious cornering. To mount my GPS, I'm going to need a bracket to mount on my handlebar. Except i don't know the diameter of the handlebar of my soon to ride Café Sport. There is a specific mount where i'm interested in, namely from SW-Motech the Nonshock Bar Clamp GPS-Mount!

    gps_00_308_10200__s_201309871960-4889.jpg

As you can see, it's going to be clamped down on the handlebar and there are some diameters to chose for different motorcycles.

Also I've got to order it, so i have to know the diameter of the handlebar. So, can anybody give me the diameter of the Café Sport handlebar?!

  17. Welkom op het forum en alvast veel plezier gewenst met je Café Sport!

Thanks Jaap and the others so far. I've got lots to read about the mechanical stuff that's going to be different than it was on my Sport 1100ie.

Already got some questions, but that's for the technical topic.

  18. Hello everyone,

I'm Mjingen from Holland, 28 years, and since a year of four, I've driven a yellow Sport 1100ie. In those years I had a lot fun an some work done on it, mostly because i'm a little bit of a perfectionist, but also because i found it necessary rather than that it had to be done ^_^ .

But after four years of riding it, done some traveling in those years, my traveling buddy bought a naked bike (Triumph Street Triple), and i was somewhat envious to the more relaxed seating position of my traveling companion. So i began to search for something naked, Moto Guzzi, and special (most of then are), so it had to be a V11 with a superbike steeringbar and Öhlins suspension. It had to be a Café Sport, Ballabio or a Scura with clipons.

Luckily, my Guzzi dealer in Holland had a V11 Café Sport from 2004 for sale, and with the trade-in of my Sport 1100 and some more money, i bought myself a V11 Café Sport. It was also the only one for sale in Holland so i had to react quickly or else i had to search in Germany where they are also quite expensive.

Anyway, that's my story in short. The Café Sport is still with the dealer so no pictures till i have it over at my home, which is about two weeks from now. I have a little bit of a space issue.....

    Regards,
