  1. Just wanted to share my recent success story. I have a 2003 V11 with Giannelli exhaust and K&N pods. The bike suffered from the proverbial "cough" at low RPM's. Nothing of consequence, just annoying (and apparently common).  I knew there were some horse power being left on the table w/o the power commander (or alternative).  So, I bit the bullet and installed one (PCIII USB).

    WOW!

It's night and day.  I love it!

    No cough.  More power.

I used the stock map from the Powercommander website: 706-502 "European model, Giannelli slip-on's, and stock or aftermarket airfilter"

Seemed like a good place to start, coonsidering... Looks like it was close to perfect.

I still have some testing to do (and I have not used a dyno), but I am very happy with the initial results.

  2. Oh my! The (minty) twin to my bike! I've pm'd the seller to try to get the vin to feed my curiosity. This is the 1st V11 for sale that I've seen with my same gunmetal tank and grey MG lettering. It seems the +03 naked's are more rare than the specialty models! I'm hoping I can also get some hi-res pics of this gem!

The VIN is listed in the listing: ZGUKTC0144M111155

  3. So, simaster: just to get your thread back on topic:

You replaced the speedometer cable on your 2003 V11 Sport and found that there is a different cable for the LeMans/Nero Corsa/Rosso Corsa variants and the Ballabio/Sport?

You also have an early green Sport with Magni fairing? And Magni supplied you with an additional angle drive of 60˚ unlike Gio's 90˚?

Yes. Kind of.  Let me explain...

I have a 2003 V11 Sport (Cafe). As some of you may notice, the "Green" in 2003 was different than 2000/2001.  I took the 2000 Green Bodywork and Magni fairing from my 2000 and installed it on my 2003 (story for another thread).

I brought the 2003 in for a service and got it back with a a dead tach and speedo (Story for another thread). Decided to deal with it myself...

I'm 99% sure the cable was the issue with the speedo.I ordered a new cable, but, as it turns out, I ordered a LeMans cable which was different from the Cafe. (who knew?)

I ordered the correct Cafe cable and come to find out the Speedo angle drive threads are stripped.  So, time to order a new angle drive...

In my research I found that Veglia has both a 60 and 90 degree angle drives (see pics above).

My stock angle drive is 60. I ordered a new 60 (expensive).

I'm wondering if I should have the 90 (because of the Magni)?

  4. I believe the speedo angle drives are made by Veglia.  Google Veglia angle drive and you will see both 60 and 90 degree versions.  I don't know if they will all work with our bikes though.

Veglia makes both 60 and 90 degree drives. See pics:

  5. Now that Jaap has had the forum gremlins removed (there was a chunk of this thread that disappaeared) and further to the question of the upper angle drive (for docc in particular) - here is a pic of the set-up with a Magni fairing as viewed from the left side - the angle screws directly onto the output of the speedo via the knurled nut. I also add some stress relief (large zip tie) about 6 inches from the upper end of the cable to prevent the cable rubbing on the Magni bracket at full lock.

    Gio

That's weird.  All of my previous posts have disappeared...

Gio, Thank you for the pic and great info.  Is that a 90 degree angle drive? The one I had on previously was 60.

  6. I recently had the speedo cable on my 2003 V11 Sport fail. I ordered a new one from Harper's and noticed the female connectors were two different sizes (on either end, one small, one large).  This leads me to believe I either have the wrong cable or the male connectors (from the speedo or engine) were switched out at some point.  My guess is the former...

    Thoughts?

  7. Hahaha I was going to post on earemike's gauge report tonight...and apparently there are some blokes here who aren't actually following my build thread! :huh2:  LOL

Great Thread! I love what you are doing.  Keep up the great work!

Now, about those gauges.... Tell us please! Have you been able to test them out?
