I close the petcock, pull the gas line off, connect a long piece of line to the petcock and run it into a gas can, then open the petcock. Guest ratchethack Posted September 12, 2007 Share Posted September 12, 2007 Ralph, the problem with doing this is that you've still got fuel left in the right-hand side of the tank, where the fuel pump delivers fuel back to the tank thru the regulator. AFAIK, the only way to get it all out is to take the tank off and either tip it over so all the fuel gets to the left-hand side while you've got 12V on the petcock, or simpler yet, turn it upside down and slop it out the filler hole.
