Strange deposit

While checking the valves I notice a deposit on the valve cover the was thick and kind of a light brown color. Any idea what this might indicate? I was thinking condensation and the crankcase not breathing correctly,

If deposit is sludgy it sounds like emulsified oil to me, Quite common I believe if bike is used for short runs as oil never really gets hot enough to drive off any moisture. If the bike is only doing very short runs I'd be tempted to take it out for a good long run then have another look. (My :2c: worth), Regards Mick

It is almost certainly oil emulsified with water (condensate). During spring, when it's cold and wet, you'll have to ride long enough to get the engine fully hot (which might be hard to do). Mick is right- the cure is to ride longer/further. Not a bad prescription, eh?
