Maximum "safe" rpm ?

Hi,

Anyone have experience how high rpms a Sporti / V11 engine can tolerate before the valves start to communicate with the piston tops ?

Where does the rpm limiter of a stock V11 cut out ?

I know that there is not much to gain going beyond 8000 rpm, but I would like to know where the physical limit really sits. I have a My16M ECU unit where one can adjust the rpm limit freely and my engine seems to go rather willingly above 8000 rpm. I have taken it up to 8750 rpm without problems a couple of times, but it could go higher.

Any experience on this ?

My revlimiter is at 9k, I have hit it a couple of times.

You shouldn't go higher then that I think.

The pistons speed is approaching what is consider the

safety limit in a street bike engine.

8000 rpm = 21,33 m/s

9000 rpm = 24 m/s

I read somewhere that 24 m/s should be consider the limit.

calculus:

80 mm stroke * 2 (up/down) * 9000 rpm / 60 sek/minute = 24 m/s

so its not a big deal to hit the redline (8,000) from time to time? I was curious about that and might drive a little more aggresive knowning it to be safe.

44732[/snapback]

But keep in mind that shifting is easier at lower revs, so fiddling with the lever at that RPMS quickly leads to 9000+. The older LM3 stands it (at least prooven 3 times) but this engine is remarkable smaller.
