Hey @Lucky Phil good to hear from you😊

Good points made…. Fuel is 4months old and the fine wire plugs have sure been fouled. Back to basics eh? I think fuel pressure is ok as the pump primes and stops once up to pressure, but certainly worth a check if new plugs and fresh fuel don’t do the business. I’ve considered taking the injectors out to check spray pattern ok but that looks like a real PITA once they are out of the TB’s

It’s really messing with my head and I am struggling to understand why a well-running machine can pull this on me after a gearbox build!! But back to basics; fresh fuel, new plugs and see how it goes. Cheers!

That the pump stops doesnt always mean it build pressure, it is controlled by the ecu and goes a specific time when the ignition is switch on

  2. I have a bad experience with ca cyclework TPS, maybe due to moisture, as it is not a proper sealing around the TPS. The bike was not rideable,  and become good when a old original TPS was installed.  As a solution to this I put some water resistance grease around the TPS, have worked well since

Great to hear another RM owner's experiences. May I ask why did you install the new clutch plate?

It was a attemt to reduce the clutch noise (not a great success:)) and to improve the behavior of the clutch action when downshifting. This is much better, the "tripod?" clutchplate flex maybe a little compared to the original.

  4. I inspect the flywheel/clutch assembly of my Rosso Mandello last winter, no sign of cracks at all. Maybe the Rosso Mandello isnt affected with this issue? And how many of the Scura`s is affected? I also installed the new type of clutch plate, much smooter engaging, but some issues with the clutch dragging, now sorted out

  5. Her is a bin. file I have done for my Rosso Mandello. Modifications that is done: Raised compression by taken 0,8 mm off the head and a thinner base gasket, original airbox with KN filter and velocity stacks instead of the rubber elbows, Stucchi crosspipes and Mistral carbon mufflers. The bike runs very well, the annoying torque drop at 4000 is completely gone. I used the Titanium bin as a base, with modifications in the fuel table and ignition table.

Hope this can be helpful :)

I had a similar situation after putting the

Ram Clutch in the Scrua..The friction plate is slightly thicker..One of the things I did was to zip tie the clutch lever pulled to the bars and leave it while not riding it for the first several  rides..I've done this with other bikes and it does help a little bit if their is any air bubbles in the line in clutch or brakes...over night they can slowly rise to the top.

Another thing is , How many miles do you have on the new clutch? after I rode mine I noticed mine would just get slightly better and not drag as much and it began to find neutral a little easier.., I even intentionally slipped the clutch a little more than usual on occasion, It was suggested by an older and  highly regarded mechanic friend of mine that it would get better after a couple of hundred miles..and it did...its about 80% better to the point it doesn't bother me at all anymore......   My 2 Cents

Thank you for your answer, good to hear that I'm not the only one with this issue. No, I have not many miles (or km here in Norway 😀) on the new clutch plate, so I assume it will getting better.

  7. Update on this matter. A new master cylinder was not a huge success, I think I will live with it this way, maybe it will improve with some driving. Beside that, this new clutch plate has improved the behavior of the bike, it is not so "brutal" at downshifts anymore.

  8. Thanks for your replies. In my case, I am not so shure if a longer pushrod is a solution, because when I adust the clutch lever adjusting screw all the way in (out of its normal position) the clutch relase ok. This is however not a good solution, the clutchlever is too far from the handlebar, and almost zero distance to the clutch piston. I have order a new 13 mm clutchcylinder, a report will come 😀

How bad is the drag? Is the bike unrideable, or just tricky to get going? I wonder if things will get better as the new plate wears a little, and beds into the flywheel.

No, it is not too bad, it is rideable,  but difficult to find neutral. As soon as the weather is getting better I will take her on a ride 😀

Are you sure you don't have air in the clutch system? Air in a hydraulic clutch can cause decreased throw of the pressure plate, causing clutch drag. Because the air compresses.

Yes, I am pretty sure of that, but I know it can be difficult to get the air out. The "feel" of the handle is the same as before, and I also unmount the slave cylinder and blocked it with a vice grip, and the handle was solid (if you understand what I mean..:-)

  11. Hello everybody. During the winter I have done some upgrades to my RM, one of them was to try to reduce the ratteling noise at idle from the clutch. I bought a new clutch plate (Miba type), the noise is better, but the problem is that it drags. It seems to me that it require more throw-out distance, possible due to that it is thicker (1mm)? Have somebody experience this? I hope to avoid taking the engine out and put the old plate in...Can a 13 mm master cylinder be a solution?

One of the confusions is that the later, black LongFrame, V11 have "extra gearbox support" consisting of tubes from the lower rear subrame to the lower rear of the engine case.  Short Frames (RedFarme + Rosso Mandello/black frame) do not have the boss on the engine case to accept the later braced subframe, while later V11 do not have the mounting bracket beneath the spine for the center mounting plate vestigial from the 1990's Sport 1100.

I am not shure this is totally correct, my Rosso Mandello have these bosses on the engine, and I bought and installed a second hand rear subframe on my bike. Have to drill new holes and making threades of course... Maybe the Rosso Mandello series are different from the red frame series?

  13. Hello all. I am a 62 year old norwegian guy, bought my V11 Rosso Mandello from Germany this spring, very pleased so far😀 It is not my first Moto Guzzi, my first was a Lario back in 85, and after that two Le Mans 850 and a Le Mans 1000. After some years with Ducati (St4 and Multistrada 1200) I am back to Guzzi, feels great 👍😀. This is a fantastic forum, a lot of clever people👍
