  1. There should be an old post on here somewhere with a picture of my bike being "recovered" by the AA back in May, when the spring failed at 800 miles. It took 6 weeks to get the bike back on the road (exacerbated by a delay in getting new "pork chop" plates - unrelated I know, but the paint peeled off at the same time!).

On August Bank Holiday Monday, at 1201 miles, the spring went again!! The bike is still at the dealers, who, despite their bvery best efforts, are having difficulty getting sense out of MG/Aprilia UK.

I have taken advice from Trading Standards, and threatened rejection etc. On the basis of the first letter, I have been told that a "comprehensive" repair including a new shaft (not supplied last time) is proposed. The dealer has been given the part numbers, but no parts.

In desparation, I have given them unitl the beginning of november, when the bike will be 1 to get it fixed, BUT also told them that I will not accept it back without written confirmation from MG that they will extend recovery/warranty provisions beyond the two years (I've asked for a further 36 months) in respect of this problem!!

    Not confidence inspiring is it!!

  2. On a similar, but opposite vein, is anyone aware of a replacement seat unit offering a better pillion provision? The stock unit with removable cowl seems to have been designed for riders with enormous backsides, and tiny pillions!!

  3. Apparently it was a failed spring!! A part worth less than £5.00 which will cost over £500 (under warranty) to replace!!!!

The dealer has also agreed to replace the swing arm/footpeg castings with red anodised ones as the original gunmetal grey paint was not keyed properly. Even the slightest stonechip/boot rub caused flaking. The paint could be chipped away with a finger nail.

Two weeks to back on the road!

  4. 801 miles on the clock, booked for first service, and my gearbox seems to have packed up.

All under warranty of course, Aprilia situation notwithstanding!?, but has anyone else experienced this: perfectly normal all day, no noises, bumps, bangs, etc, but tried to go down through the box on a steep twisty descent, only to find that there was nothing other than 5th!

Lever still moves normally etc, but the oil looks very black now through the sight glass.

Also, has anyone had problems with paint chipping off their footpeg/swing arm castings?

  5. Nowt to beat the Harris Tweed body stocking over a well laced Liberty Boddice!!!

Try riding a Spear & Jackson #7 towed behind your V11 at high speed.

OR, as we Celts know, wode works well

  6. 1 Where in the UK can I get hold of a good quality paddock stand for my V11 Lemon?

2 Has anybody had experiece of the type of stand which "pins" into the swing arm pivots? Do they work, and do they cause any damage?

  7. I'll post some pics when the job is done: sadly though I "over modified" the last one they sent me!! It WILL fit very well I think.

Pyramid told me, having had a good laugh at the replacement order, that the range of bits will include belly pans, panels, fenda extendas etc, but that they need a bike as a pattern.
