  1. The one I'm buying has clip-ons, I thought it did. Been in touch with the owner to find out who changed them over from handlebars, they are the ones above the yoke. I actually prefer being more forward so should be fine if they have been done right.
  2. OMG I didn't realise the Cafe Sport had handlebars..I thought the V11 Sport range all had clip ons..oh well it should be more comfy to ride.
  3. The Triumph is actually quite cramped, anyway I sold it , never liked that engine , no power and you had to rev it hard to get it to move at all. The Ducati is more sporty but I fit into it really well although I've never ridden that bike for more that 2hrs. The long reach is not a problem for me, I have long strong arms and wrists. I'll let you know how I get on with the Cafe Sport when I get back. This site is quite good for looking at ergonomics of bikes. www.cycle-ergo.com
  4. Of course, I might even get a GoPro and do some film...add a bit of Mat Monroe
  5. They look really good, I do like the idea of going forward and down. I'll see what it's like when I ride her for the first leg, not much I can do en route but think lots of stops might be necessary. Can't wait.
  6. Thanks Bill. Ill look into that when I get the bike back, i'm not going to be in a position to work on the bike on this trip, I think I'can do 1-2hrs at a time which means lots of stops but the scenery is amazing so should be fine. I looked at those Motratech ones, nice kit.
  7. I had the seat padding raised on the Firestorm...(not the seat in this photo) but it made little or no difference and was really uncomfortable. I could take a lump of Pink High Shag carpet I suppose.
  8. I'm thinking it might be too much to get some pegs set up correctly whilst on the trip. I only have one big ride day 550km (350m) and I have all day so I can stop loads and let the knees do what they need to do. I'm going to try taking Glucosamine a week or two before I go.
  9. So i'm thinking of taking a set of Vario foot pegs for when I ride my new to me V11 through the Alps in September. Cafe Sport from Czech I used to have a Honda Firestorm that killed my knees after about 1hr..as did my Triumph Thunderbird Sport I now have a Ducati 1000ss and my knees are OK with this. Question is ...Anyone had any of these bikes and a MG V11 to compare comfort levels?
  10. Yes I think it should be a good bike. It's also just had a major service at MG in Brno. New tyres and battery as well so nothing to worry about there. Can't wait. Just in the process of booking rooms for each night and planning the route. Will be doing the Stelvio Pass as well as Lake Como en route to Milan but plenty before that.
  11. Just been in touch with the owner and he say's he has replaced the relays..spare too Also I was worried about the pawl spring after reading about it on here..he has a new spare with the bike..happy days
  12. Are these the ones? Omron Electronics G8HE-1C7T-R-DC12
  13. If I had more time I would leave them, little breakdowns often lead to meeting great people and making new friends. However I need to make it to Geneva for a fixed time and day so yes I will get some new relays. Anyone in the UK know of a good source for these Omron ones?.
  14. Of course, but I think i'll manage fine
  15. Are the originals likely to pack up on me? It's only 4 days, thing is I'm taking a small rucksack with clothes etc in, not really wanting to take much in the way of tools. I take it relays are easy to get at?
  16. Hi people. New to the forum, i'm from Scotland and love motorcycles. At the beggining of September I fly out to Brno, Czech Republic to buy a V11 which I have been after for years. This is the Cafe Sport model. So I get to ride it back through the Alps to Geneva where it will be crated up and brought back to the UK on a lorry while I get to fly (no time) Not got many photos but you get the idea I can't wait, at 46 I need to do more of this type of thing, finances allowing. Anything I need to look into? I've already bought it (deposit), it's just been to Moto Guzzi dealer for a big service, new tyres and battery. 22k kms so 13k miles. Those keen eyed amongst you will notice the rocker covers are black and not brown as they should be, they have been painted unfortunately , not from damage just aesthetics.
