  1. that's right, there's two twin blngs on one lot, the other one is leased as storage for a cartographer right now, but it's set up so you could live in it if you wanted to....

I lived on the east bay (Alameda) a while back, and i know...stuff is crazy expensive out there! what i could think of doing is, buying a tiny piece of land out there by sebastopol or something like that, were you could build one of those things....keep the bike there, so when friday afnoon comes along you drive there, spend the night and early sat you go out and ride the wine country all day, you could ride all that extra time you would use just for commuting there!...you know the roads...they make the tx hillcountry look like kansas  then on sunday afnoon you just drive back home.

ideally, i'll get some other bike buddy or buddys who would be interested on going in / investing with you... if you were to rent it, the same, there's always some motorcycle nut like us who will be interested in living there, plus it'll take care of the propierty and the bike/s...

  2. B, that's vinyl siding you're talking about....wich btw is absolute crap....

no, it's actually standing seam metal roofing, pretty common around here....it's galvanized sheets...the roofing contractor was hesitant about installing vertically, cause he had never done it before... but it was no big deal, it worked out great....the building is pretty straight forward....conc slab, framed in wood w/ 2x6's, insulated, drywall interior, plywood sheating exterior, wrap in tyvek and skinned in galvanized mtl roofing...

it's actually pretty cool inside, the mtl siding is not a contributing factor to the temp inside, besides it's tall enough that any hot air stays up on top...it also has clrstory operable windows all along the tall side...just in case.

  3. well,... the site was an empy lot, the area where i'm at is the old part of town, skidrow right south of the downtown, the oldest neighborhood in San Antonio, dating to the 1800's... not a very safe place, but land is cheap....not much people venture down here... the area is a mix of older industrial parks warehouses and the like, just across the river is the abandoned lone star brewery!

because this old houses in the hood doesn't have garages, nor room for them i was forced to build one... (it's actually two) you lease one and put your stuff in the other, it pays itself! :D actually i'm leasing both, the one with my stuff in it is occupied with another guy who has a 748,....

he lives there, the place has a loft, full bath, kitchen, central air....blah blah, also a good friend of his, is a duc mechanic...the guy takes care of the bikes, so it works out great.

at the time there's the Guzzi a 748 (sometimes two), an rs250 and sometimes a K1200s....

it's also a great place to stage out rides, everyone can bring their bike, spend the night and take off early without having to coordinate places to meet...

  4. The Spanish and French youngsters have a rather liberal relationship with alcohol and vehicles,

    tell me about it....

    and yes,.,..Orson is Da-Man!! (one day...one day :D )

I really can't wait..the whole northern region seems tailored for 2 wheels...

twisties and boobies!....the only thing better than that is, twisting boobies!

  6. hey B, thanks for the pointers dude.....

orson, would you think that buying something vs renting have any advantages,...does it matter or make a difference? i checked out ducati madrid...they have some decent used bikes,... i think the insurance may be a bitch, instead of just renting something with all the coverage you can think of, that place does not seem to be renting ducs...

yes, Alhambra...a buddy of mine (the dude that has the 748) says it rocks. I wan't to check El Escorial...museo Del Prado in Madrid, Dali's house and La Sagrada familia in Barcelona and The Guggenheim in Bilbao....and that's kind of the main trip,...after that anything goes. Another friend says that Oviedo is a very, very cool town, i might have to check it out.... can't F*&^ wait! :P:

one more thing.....the running of the bulls in Pamplona seems to be in July... hmmm

(we might have to look into that)

I've been to this one in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico it was a blast, a couple of years ago too.... i did see a dude get horned badly by a bull about 6 ft away from me... right there, you appreciatte having had a couple of expressos right before The Encierro....i don't know if the dude made it, he got taken out of the barricades by paramedics.

    it was exhilarating though!

  7. Howdy...

I'm thinking of doing a trip to Spain sometime next year...(it's gonna be so cool) not sure when, probably during low season and around a time of year when there's decent weather...i think i'll be sometime around september, i don't know.

Here's the deal...i'm not shipping the V11 with me but i need 2 wheels for sure...ideally, i'll fly to italy drop by the factory and ride to spain... but is not going to happen...

I think i'll just rent something in Spain, i guess in either Madrid or Barcelona, (who knows where i'll fly in...)

does anybody knows what kind of stuff is for rent out there? i'll assume there's plenty of beemers, and ...honda and the such.

I'll like to think i could rent a Multistrada or an ST3....you think? to be realistic, i probably will need something closer to a sport touring...(see i'm not going alone!, there's this hot babe i'm taking with me :P: )

i need her to be confy, and in a good mood... you know ;)

now, i know of people who goes there, buys a car, use it for their vacation and then sell it back to the dealer when they're done....could that be done for a bike? i have no idea... sounds cool though!

    ... any pointers?
