  1. Bad news.  The selector spring on my bike broke again after 3000 km.  For the third time in three years.  In the garage they replaced 5 springs in 20 years, includes 2 times on my bike.  They do not find the cause.  Currently they trying to modificate the gear box by reducing the travel way of the selector spring. I hope it will work this time.

    Any suggestions are we welkom.

    Best regards

    Marc

  2. Le mans has been repaired.  Thanks everybody for the feedback and advice.  Special thanks to docc for the technical support and for Scudd for sending me a new selector spring.  I'm back on the road again and the gearbox works fine, for a guzzi.  I hope for a long time now.  Best regards.  Marc, Belgium, Ypres

  3. I'm looking for a decent shift selector spring.  They are hard to find in Belgium.  I've read that you have a re-engineered spring.  Is it possible to buy such a spring?  I can not find any information about the sending cost for a secure envelope to Belgium - Europe.  Maybe you have some experience in sending to Europe.  Thanks

  4. The shift selector spring has been replaced a few months ago.  I have had since then problems to shift down.  Problem has not been solved.  Now for the second down gearbox problems.  Maybe I can used such a new spring.  First I let inspect the gearbox.  Thanks for the info.

  5. I noticed that there is a difference  between the left and ride exhaust height of my guzzi of 2 cm .  The same difference was mesured between the left and right height of the rear footrests.  I can not find the cause.  Nothing is damaged.  Please check out on your bike en let me known what is possibly the cause.  I noticed it when I have assembled the stucchi luggage rack.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Hello. I just picked up an 03 Lemans and its got a shifting issue. Upshifts are fine but downshifts are problematic especially when the bike is warmed up. The shift lever stays down until I let the clutch out and then it pops back to the normal position. Trying additional downshifts eventually gets me down through the gears (after a lot of clutch in/out and shifter work) but its very unpredictable and something is obviously wrong.

I read this thread, took off the sidecover of the trans aand don't see anything obviously wrong.  I'll do the polishing/etc described in this topic but want to know if I should look for anything in particular that would cause my problem. Thanks in advance!

Billy I have the same problem with my 02 Lemans.  The selector spring has been broken en have been replaced by a new one. Since then I have problems to shift down.  Have you already found and solved the problem?  I have already replaced the oil bij 75W140.  It is a little better to shift down when the motor is warm but the problem still exist.  Thanks and best regards.  Marc

While we are looking at the gearbox selector mechanism, here is a reminder of some collected wisdom about the selector pawl arm and its troublesome spring.Spring.jpg

The spring of my V11 has been broken.  A new one has been placed.  Since then I have problems to shift down in gear. Specialy 4,3 en 2de gear.   The selector pedal comes back to neutral very slow.  Shifting up is not a problem.  Is it possible that a wrong spring has been placed?   What could cause the problem?

Anyone looking for a tail bag for the Stucchi rack might want to consider the 3516-0135 from Moose Racing. Its semi-rigid, fits the rack well, can be removed quickly with finger clips, and can be extended upward by opening a zipper.

Anyone with the Stucchi rack knows that cargo cannot be strapped all the way forward without chaffing the carapace behind the seat. To prevent this, I laced black paracord among the rack rails to standoff the tailbag. Even so located, it does not overhang the rack. Its rather small, but suits my purpose, so I'm happy with it.

My intent was to post a few photos of how it looks on the bike, but the 200KB max attachment allowance for this posting precludes even one picture. If anyone is curious about fit and appearance, send me a message I will email pics.  rwake

5-12-16: Photos are now linked below in the 3rd post, with Docc's help.

I have the same stucchi rack.  The rack is perfect but once mounted on the bike the rack is crooked at on side.  I don't find the problem or the cause.   Do you have some tips to solve the problem?  Thanks Marc
