Seems the issue with contacting Piaggio is they only report on more recent recalls and not all the way back to the V11.
Shifting into third is decidedly "busy" in the 6speeder. I have often wondered what is different from the other gears. When changing to the Chuck-Scud Superspring, also perform the LuckyPhil Shift Improvement. Some have also reported improved shift action with RedLine Shockproof (I prefer the Lightweight).

Say Doc, What color is the light weight? I switched from Lucas 80-90 to Red Line V-Twin Shock Proof (RED) and noticed a significant improvement in the smoothness of shifting. What's your input on the light weight?

Yeah, that's about 26°C, and just under the point where I start thinking about maybe risking going out for a walk without a jacket. B)

Right, you really want to but experience tells you its still a bit cold.

You are more of a man (or take less coumadin ) than me !

    Hey Gene,

Did I forget to say I was wearing full thermals under the leathers, an electric vest and a balaclava to complete the outfit. Relatively speaking, I was comfy.

Umm, really. Don't know about others but once I've set up the preload and compression damping to my riding and road conditions I don't need a travel indicator again. Besides a slight smear of grease with your finger indicates just as well when the dust seal wipes it down under compression.

Thanks PhiI. But I prefer the zip tie, and I enjoy seeing how much travel I use on certain sections of road especially after that one big pot hole I couldn't avoid. Its a gauge, just like my oil and temp gauge.  They add some JOY to my total riding experience.;)

  5. Still some snow on the lawn and in the woods, but the sun was out and temp was 53, and wife said do it. What else does a moto guy need to know, I did it. Road for about 2.5 hours being cautious in the curves cus the roads were still heavily dusted from winter sanding. Ahhhhh it felt good to get the first ride in.image.jpeg

Very nice Skip. the Superveloce headlight ring does double duty as an homage to early Guzzi LeMans

Thanks Footgoose and for sharing, I did not know. So I guess I did good in two ways. If that is your LeMans, it looks very good, has that old school cafe look. Loving It !

Skip, which one of you 3 rode two bikes? Or was one of them a spare? The trailer looks packed, did you have enough tongue weight?

I'm the one who brought and rode the V11 and 14 Custom. My son Gus rode the Norge and our buddy Tim rode his Harley.  We packed them tight in that configuration for less wind drag at 75 mph. with 175# tongue weight. Was it overloaded, YES. Tim and Gus rode the cruisers on the way home, took off almost 2000# towing weight.

  8.              Well, the first [KSR] is in the books and what a GREAT gathering it was. I believe the head count was around 12, a good showing I thought. Three of us Michiganders trailered four bikes down to Kentucky (Norge, V 11, 14 Custom, and a Harley ). We had a nice ride Friday afternoon that included a stop at the dam on the lower end of Lk. Cumberland and then back to the State Park Lodge restaurant for dinner with a wonderful view of Dale Hollow Reservoir.  Saturday it rained but we made the best of it by having a Tech Session held in the garage at the Park rental house that Joe and others stayed at.  I brought my two lap tops with Guzzi Diag loaded, along with the diagnostic cables, break out harness, and multi-meter. After a little back and forth with the hook-ups we got connected and were able to read the ECU's on mine, Joe's and Kales V 11's. Very interesting to be able to read some of the sensors and the varying CO values. Tech Session was a success.     Big thanks to Bill for getting the tab on Saturdays dinner, also for handing out commemorative 2023 Guzzi tyre pressure gauges. Thanks Doc for the air screw O-rings and the specialty (cool) front torque arm bolt. Thanks to  Gene and his very top end Snap-On Diagnostic code reader(he cleared trany codes on my truck) run's great, and Kale for a complete set of wheel bearings. Great Big Thanks to Joe and everyone else who came, contributed and participated in this wonderful event. I was truly gifted.

The CO trim function is really pretty easy to understand. For every increase or decrease in the number the ECU adds, (From memory?) 100 microseconds of pulse width to the injection period. The thing is that it does this as a blanket increase across the map so at idle, when very little fuel is being delivered it makes a considerable difference but at wider throttle openings where fuel delivery is already high the effect is negligible and generally is only noticeable in increased or decreased fuel usage over a period of time.

If you are running a bike with lambda input you can screw about with the trim to your hearts content but the moment you disconnect the tool the trim will default to 'Zero' and it will trim to the lambda signal. If you turn the lambda input off in the map you can then adjust the CO trim and save it.

Now this isn't my area of expertise and I'm just repeating what I've been taught by the likes of Beetle, Paul and John so if I've got it wrong I'm sure they will descend on me like a pack of furies and tear me an extra arsehole!

Thanks Pete,  That's  interesting to know about the pulse timing related to CO trim. I was always curios as to how the trim affected engine performance.   Very Cool.

Oh, forgot my excuse for not coming. Grandson Max is coming in from Iowa State to visit for a few days and leave his truck here for the summer before flying back to Socal. The planets just didn't align, and no dog could get them lined up.

Thanks for the video Chuck.  I've been trying to get to a Spine Raid for the last few years but things got in the way. So fingers crossed,   "this is the year".

Yes I have done a few of them for myself and friends on Ducati,Aprilia and Moto Guzzi...If you take it off and wash and rinse the inside good with some dish washing soap and hot water ( I hook a garden hose up to the bottom outlet on the hot water heater if nothing else)

Then let it dry out for a couple months , in the sun as much as possible possible, I have even taken a low power hair dryer and stuck it in the fill hole and let it run for half a day a couple times... The tank will eventually return to its original size.

A good thing to do if you want to take the time and care is to Casswell Epoxy treatment , then it wont swell again and it wont bubble .

I was amazed with the Casswell product line, especially the tank sealer. Great info.

Skip, just talked to the hotel, the cabins are at the beginning of the resort, across from the golf course. She claimed its about two miles from the main hotel building on Jenning's Road. I will be trailering down because of my father, that said I could run a Spine Raider Uber for those wanting to leave a bike behind @ the garage for "tech sessions". :bier:

Looks perfect Joe,  Counting the days.

  13. Hey Joe,  Thanks for all the help/info. We reserved a lakeview room at the Lodge. How far is that from your cottage work shop?, walking distance? I'm going to bring a spare 02 SCURA ECU, connecter cables and computer. If there's time maybe we can play with some V-11 tuning mods to go along with those Decent Tune Ups.

    I love this concept, @Skip!

How did you derive those dimensions and angles? Does the "half moon" cut-out index on the oil filter access cover or is it simply a relief cut for the access cover?

    cradle.jpg

Hey Doc,     Been really busy, but thanks. The cradle can be rotated for either access depending where you want your balance point. Greatly increases stability.
