  1. I take it from the replies so far, that there is nothing to indicate that the wrap affects the performance of the machine negatively. You know, what if there was some wireless temperature probe in the exhausts that affected the computer which affected the fuel injection sequence or something!

In answer to the use of wrap try reading http://www.thermotec.com/technology/how/how.html

I consider the performance enhancement to be equivalent to putting on the new Ti pipes but haven't actually dyno'd it. To see dyno's from racing engines see http://www.thermotec.com/technology/dynamo...ynamometer.html I definately saw the difference on my custom softail, and confederate uses it on all their bikes.

  2.

Yesterday I wrapped my exhaust pipes with heat tape (see attach). I rode for a couple of hours (up to the Jax Blues Festival), got a ticket for parking with all the other bikes in the wrong zone, then rode home. The bike ran good until I tried to restart it about 30 minutes later. The engine was missing terribly, wouldn't go over 4000 rpm with out dying and generally acted like "bad Gas". I had filled up at BP but so did my daughter and her bike shows no symptoms. Woke up this morning, the bike started fine, sounds good, but has me worried.

Do you know of any reason why wrapping the pipes could cause this defiant behavior?

  3. I've got a little slope to the driveway, so have tried bump starting to get away without waking up the misses. All I've got to say is that it don't work to good in 2nd gear, next time will try 3rd.

  4. Never used a GPS for the road but have used one extensively while sailing. It is amazing what the contraption can tell you. In a foreign port, you know where the closest loo is, where the post office is, where the laundry mat is, where to fuel up....the list just goes on. This is the age of information integration (i^3).

  5. Anyone interested in this stock fairing off my 2002 Scura. It has a 2" crack in the clear shield, right by the fairing. Pay the shipping and it's yours. If the picture doesn't show , send me an email. I will forward it to you. thx

  6. I know I don't know all the various Guzzi models, but I was wondering why everyone was talking about a Scura that had black front forks. I learn something everyday. Welcome Frankie and nice Corretto.

  7. I have some scratches on my carbon fiber cans. I would like to sell them on the classified ads or perhaps ebay, but figure the scratches may discourage buyers. Is there a proper treatment or repair that can be made? I have access to a really good painter here in st. augustine, FL who did an excellent job on one of my other bikes. See picture.

    Please let me know.

  8. Wouldn't you know it... :homer: ... after getting advice from reading this forum, I decided quite awhile back to upgrade my exhausts on my 2002 Scura to the titanium cans but was having problems locating some (the classic back order phenomema). I had contacted quite a few places (even Tex's favorite) but always heard the same story. I looked into other cans but thinking there wasn't a shop close enough to where I live to adjust the computer thing, I was resolved to waiting. Well, talking with the Duc mechanic, I found out there was such a shop about 45 minutes north, so in checking them out, the owner Kirt says, "Oh, I've had 4 pair of those cans in stock, just sold the 3rd set to a guy in Puerto Rico and have one left." I said let me see what they look like up next to the bike. They looked great, I bought them, brought them home and installed them and am now in bliss. The sound is awesome, the power seems increased, and they look great. It just goes to show, look in your back yard if you want to find what you are looking for! :cheese:

Here is the local shop's web site... Kirt says his online shopping is taking off.

    ciao

  9. Tex, here is what i got when I clicked on your link....

A page referred you to a direct media link on our site. Please go back and request the author link to the page which the media file was on, rather than media file itself.

    jfyi

  10. the eagle and name look good on the tank. On another subject, I have 2002 Scura with the red plate on the side and would like matching valve covers (red anodized aluminum?) Yours look good but might be a different shade. Can you direct me on how to acquire some matching covers? thx

sorry, didnt see the other responses, now I know the answer. thx anyway.

  11. Full Throttle Productions movie Road Rage II and Bonus: The World's Greatest Road Race Crashes is out on video. There is nothing like seeing the young bucks out there doing the latest and craziest. Though the old farts sit around scoffing, I can almost bet that when they were younger, they survived a few stupid things they did. Progress for the sake of it? So lets go ride our bikes like snowboards, only to get up and do it again! :cheese:

  12. I f you make it from Moab Utah, down to Bryce Canyon, you might want to go on south to Kanab City. That is the gate to Zion National Park (the crazy lady scene in Jeramiah Johnson was filmed there), which is a great place to visit http://www.nps.gov/zion/ You can also make the north rim of the grand canyon from there. You can head west from there to Hurricane city which will lead you into Nevada http://atlas.utah.gov/wildlife/viewer.htm Little known fact is that halfway between Kanab and Hurricane is Colorado City Utah/Arizona, which is the Mormon town of polygamists. Notice all the homes there are large 3 story with enough rooms for the 5 wives and the kids. If you go into town, they don't talk much but they stare a lot.

Know you'll have a great time, and post us some pics since not all of us get out west as much as we should.

  13. nice comments on the engineering of sound, analogue vs. digital. I find it interesting the the Chairman/President of Sony Corp. said upon the release of SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc, which blows away the CD), that we (the industry) think we finally have a product that can compete with analogue (vinyl, DAT,etc.). Apparently, the manufacturers of CD's knew they had an inferior sounding product and just buffalo'd the public to where the public chants the mantra.

But in any event, I see analogue buffs as I see Guzzi enthusiasts, both are in a pursuit for the perfect experience! The Sacred, the Sublime, the..."words can't express it"....

  14. just tought I would pass on this info...

I just purchased a Scura with 5000 mi on it. While shopping, I found one at http://www.epfguzzi.com/ which had 2000mi on it, asking $9500 and I found another one which had 4 miles on it, asking $10300 at http://www.unioncyclenc.com/Guzzi.asp

All 3 had time left on the warranty, especially the one with 4 mi. on it.

Also, I am shipping the one I bought from San Antonio, TX to St. Augustine, FL with JC Motors .. http://www.jcmotors.com/contactusshipping.html .. and it cost me around $640 (admittedly, I didn't shop around and fuel charges have risen sharply).

Good luck with your search, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did mine.
