Hey Soren, may tend to agree, it was great cruising around 90kph but was certainly getting a bit blowy around 120kph. Great looking unit you've got. Regards Auldy

    On The Road

Hi All, finally had the Scura registered this week after fixing it from cosmetic insurance write off purchase. Runs like a charm and I have utilised some of the Ohlins suspension settings I found on the forum. I am going to replace the fairing with an original if possible. Can anyone out there advise if there are any size differences in the fairings apart from the frame mount/fork mount of the headlight between the Scura, Cafe Sport and the Ballabio. If one is naturally cheaper than the other I will buy that model fairing. Photo Attached Cheers Auldy
  5. Having the same problem with my Scura, when the tank is on the bike and the petcock is turned on it's fine. As soon as I take the tank off with the petcock turned off it continually seeps fuel from the petcock area. Auldy

Hey Friz, have you fitted another fairing other than the stock fairing or have you just left it off ? Auldy

    Scura Project

Hi All, as previously posted bought myself a cosmetic insurance write off 2002 Scura for $10,000 AUD in October 04. Have slowly been fixing to a roadworthy state with the latest being ceramic coated rocker covers, had these done in a satin black for $80 AUD both sides including the head guards and happy with final product. Have also purchased a set of carbon fibre look alike mini blikers and cored the standard pipes by removing the pipe end caps, drilling the lower back plate of the pipe and removing ALL the steel wool material, and yes theres' shit loads of the stuff in there, but sounds heaps better. Just waiting now to the tacho back, having the chrome bevel surround replace as it was dented and waitng on a new rear brake lever. Have ordered the lever through Harpers Moto Guzzi which I got onto via the forum, they have been great so far and it was priced at the equivilent of $200AUD delivered against $315AUD at the dealer in Australia. Just have to track down a fairing now and hope to be on the road by the end of April. Have enclosed a couple of pics of the rocker cover and rear blinkers Regards Auldy Have another beer, got to keep the fluids up, or risk dehydration
  8. Skeeve, a truly excellent and informative presentation. From myself and i'm sure many other members, many thanks for your time, effort and information. Auldy
  9. Nice job Frank, it certanly enhances the bikes appearance and has a professional finish to it. Maybe there's a market out there! Auldy
  10. When I purchased my Scura it had scratches in the clear coat on the carbon fibre exhaust covers. I rubbed the scratches out of the clear coat with wet & dry, then purchased heat resistant clear coat enamel in a spray can from my local automotive shop. I resprayed them with about seven cotes of clear. I'm more than happy with the result and theres' no peeling. Auldy

    Happy New Years

At 1am in Sydney I wish all forum readers best wishes for 2005 Regards Ken (auldy)
  12. Thanks Paul, might have a hunt around for a set after Christmas, the Aprilia RSVR also run the same Ohlins forks with clip ons under the triple clamp, though I hate to think what they'd cost Auldy
  13. Hi All, I have taken six pictures including the front forks minus the headlight brackets, the headlight brackets attached in two photos, the headlight shell attached in another, a side view in the fifth shot and the left hand side bracket off the bike. I purchased the bike as a project, it was classified as a cosmetic insurance write off, the left hand side headlight bracket was broken in two places. As seen in the last photo I have made brackets to brace the assembly together, this is also due to the present exorbitant price of brackets. I am intending to adapt a frame mount fairing from a 70's series Ducati 900SS to the bike in the future, but for now getting back to a good presentable condition for registration. The distance between the headlight brackets for the headlight to be mounted is 210mm. Regards Ken (auldy)
  14. Hi, I have my headlight and bracket assemblies in pieces at the moment off my Scura as I'm carrying out work on it and considering a frame mount fairing. The previous post sets out good detail of the mounting. I can take some digital shots of the mounting brackets and post them to either the forum or your own email if you wish, just let me know which you prefer. If you have a photo of the frame mount brackets, it would be appriciated also. Regards Ken (auldy)
  15. Hi All, hope everyone had a great Christmas and as we like to do in the summer months in Australia, have a few beers, to keep the fluids up. Anyway, I am inquiring if anyone may know if the stock clip ons on the Scura can be mounted lower, as in under the triple clamp or is an after market set better suited Regards Auldy
  16. Freddy, I'm currently rebuliding a cosmetic damaged V11 Scura. I have previously owned a 78 model 900SS Ducati and loved the sports fairing style and protection that it offered. I have made inquiries and can obtain a replica fairing and screen for $250 AUS, the headlight bracket assembly is $150 AUS. As the fairing is a frame mount I am looking at ways of mounting the headlight bracket assembly to the steering head area. I also intend to be able to unbolt the whole assembly so I can revert back to the original Scura Fairing if necessary. Auldy .
  17. Thanks Dave, have just checked it out in the garage and you are indeed correct. After many years of working on cars, a lot of the older tripmeter kobs were held in place with a jewelers style screw. I must admit, I didn't even give a left handed thread a thought. Thanks Regards Auldy
  18. Hi all, I am looking to remove my speedo assemby from the instrument cluster to repair scratches on the cluster housing, could somebody please advise me on how to remove the tripmeter knob from the speedo. Is the reset adjuster held in place by an allen screw or similar, I don't want to force anything first. Regards Auldy

    New Member

Hi all, have just started as a new member today and picking up a 2002 V11 Scura tomorrow. I have posted in the 24/7 area also for any model info. I am living in Sydney and been out of the scene for a while with the usual family commitments, but the kids are near the self sufficient stage, allowing finances for another bike. I have previously owned numerous japanese machines along with a K100RT, MK 111 850 Lemans, 860 GTS Ducati, 900ss Ducati bevel and Hailwood Replica Mille. Like a fellow new member, I had beed choosing between a Ducati ST2, A Cagiva V Raptor and a V11 Scura. At 47 years old, a mechanic by trade, I like to do my own servicing if possible. Whilst a big fan of the Ducati bevel motor, I had concerns with the ST2 regarding maintainence for watercooling, toothed rubber belt maintainence, desmo valve adjustment and having to remove the fairing to check the oil and other maintainence, the Guzzi wins hands down. I am picking it up tomorrow as a project, hobby and long term bike. This Scura has been classified as a cosmetic damage insurance write off with the main damage being broken fairing, gear lever, back blinker and rear brake lever. There is also extremely minor abrasions to the pipes and left rocker cover. The bike has no rego but has good rubber, motor and is straight. At $10,000.00 Australian I feel it is a great bargin. Looking foreward to utilising the great features and information from this site and its members Regards Auldy
