1. Alex, I too share a great passion for my Guzzi, ,,,,,Like you, I've always known I'd have my Guzzi with me "forever".  If I were to buy another bike, I would most likely be adding another Guzzi, but none - not even another Guzzi - will ever replace my Sport.

Yeah,Y'know my love for the Guzzis and especially the spot started many years ago,it was Sept '96 and as I was living in Germany that time I was with my GPZ900R drinking my hot coffee on a mild Saturday afternoon at a motorcycle meeting point after a ride.

Then this Guzzi came in along with a Ducati following and its motor made a so distinctive sound,I was impressed,it was so huge like a big drum beating, like a Gigantic heart.

That rider pulled up a wheelie whith just a simple blow of the throtle at low rpm and relatively slow speed and great ease.I was very impressed about the whole "sightseeing" my coffee just droped out of my hand I couldn't believe that such a bike exists  .The bike after that dissapeared and after a couple of hours me being on another cafe in the city just came past and did the same thing.; :notworthy: After that I didn't want my other crate anymore and sold it away.I knew I had to had a Guzzi like this one day.....one day....one day.

I was remembering the shape, I knew it was a Guzzi and at some magazines comming out I saw that the new sport 1100i coming in was at that shape and a little different , bacause finnally as I was getting more into Guzzis through litterature that bike I saw was a DAYTONA 1000 (not the RS) it was orange colored (red orange more close to Orange) don't know if Guzzi ever made this color ,perhaps it was a custom paint (so maybe that motor too)

Life situations though were not so good for me and after many "adventures" and that day to get my Guzzi came after almost 8 very, very long years.

I have spoted many bikes before I bought this one and to tell you the truth I was first opted for a yellow 1100i, this was a red one and whith a black motor somewhat unusuall for what I was thinking of.

Anyway after all was planned and set down I traveled to Germany In Berlin visit some friends and go for the bike that it was located about 850km away in the near of Keiserslautern,.Since I wanted to have it back home (Berlin) in one day I took an early 6:00Am flight to Frankfurt and the rest with train to the destination. After an overall (about)6hrs travel here it was ,waiting for me. :food:DS021.jpg

It looked strong and beefy as soon as the engine started out I have recognised that harmonic grunty sound I have heared long time ago(perhaps a bit smoother).

I was afraid that it would be a bit heavy for me to ride.I hadn't riden on a bike bike for a long time due to an accident I had. Nevertheless I jumped on the seat wore my helmet :helmet: and there I was, first few meters and then I didn't want to get of the seat.Went of for a short ride and the ride quality was better than I have imagined, the bike was planted though it felt much much lighter than the kilos that were writen on it's specs. I coudn't believe it deep inside I was hoping for it and now I was riding a dream, the day was sunny and so it was inside my mind :sun:

Immediatelly I came back to the shop and after repeating some last minute checks ,relaxed a bit and headed to to an 850km (520miles) travel.

Driving to the nearest big city I found myself getting greetings of admiration of other bikers B) After being equipped with some leathers some maps and a bag I left to continue and headed for another 780km it was already past 4:00 afternoon. It was finnaly a long way to go and since I didn't quite knew the way I had to stop every now and then and check the map (perhaps I should get a GPS)

That added many hour of traveling to the list and though I was getting tired

there was nothing at all to keep me step out of this seat. :D...after many hours on the road (11:30) Yes you heared right I reached my destination I headed to bed for a long retire time, besides it was already 4:00 am next morning and I was 23hours asleep (+travel)To tell you the truth almost every muscle of my body was acheing but to me it was the most pleasurable pain I have ever got.Do I have to say that this was the most pleasant and unforgetable riding experience I have ever had. :D After that my Corsa became the  of my life I do the best to take her of and she talks to me or complains to me,is faithful to me and always bring me back home safe.

[ I want to keep my bike forever, I already try and deposit on any important spare part I can find, i.e. Brembos ,fairings,,whatever I feel I'll have to have. I think to buy a second motor, probably I'll have to go back there to Mandelo and ask]

That finnaly made me to believe that sertain values or individual, thing or whatever that posseses them come together way or another,it's only a matter of time.

P.S. If you like drop me a PM with your email and we can further exchange pics infos videos or other stuff as well.

Cool! Does this mean you have more of the race?Do you have any long vid. available witht the MGS on Albacete? These ones I got are of too small duration

  4. Congratulations Jim :!: The pictures sure do look good :notworthy: Well I guess I'll just have to wait patiently for that link to hear it

    46106

Well here is a couple of short videos of the MGS (in case you don't have them)

Can post more if you like

P.S.I'm trying to get the whole race in VCD

ED. I have edited and removed the zip file with the videos, I guess it was reducing my total of Global space for attachements.Dunno what this means but I guess I will not have any opportunity to attach pics and stuff if I go on like this after a while.

    Thanks

  5.  Maybe we could start a new thread and create our own list of the top 50 bikes......... Everyone could list their choice for top-10, maybe only allow 1 Guzzi in each person's list.  Other rules?  Tim

    46122

Only one Guzzi? Let's make it 3 (at least :D )it can easily be 3 in such a big list of 50 motorcycles.Besides there are so many years of motorcycling to be covered.

About the MCN list and not :mg: biased I believe that the Le'man I ,belongs to one of the best motorcycles ever made. They should know it. :D

    Cheers :bier:

  6. Alex, I'm also a big fan of the M-1 Sportecs, and agree with you on their excellent grip.  the 160/60 is the correct aspect ratio for 4.5" rim.  I was dragging my sidestand excessively until Dave recommended cutting down the rubber sidestand stop.  (Thanks again, Dave!)  I found that it can be cut down by approx. 60% before reaching the internal bolt.  A 50% reduction in the stop provides a substantial amount of additional ground clearance.

...LOL :D , I am so happy to hear that. And this little rubber piece just fall off one day, just before I start the bike to go for a ride. :)I was thinking to stick it again back there but I guess I won't have too.

It is so strange , it is so funny but it seems that anytime this bike needs something she "talks" to me in "her" own way and I mean every time.It was so from the first time I rode with this Guzzi.I could sence a "heart" beating inside there.A special kind of relation-communication I can't explain. Have anyone noticed it in his own bike.?

That's mainly why I want to keep this bike forever, and probably won't buy any other (bye bye MGS :( )

P.S. This forum is so great (so far) nice people, friendlly attitude and :mg: , I think I found my self a new internet "home"(nest) :D

  7. Hey congrats Jim..  looks awesome.!!

    I second that :thumbsup::mg: ( :mgs: ) :thumbsup:

I would love to have a bike like this but with the 2valve engine

Yea I am in love with the 2valve tec. :D:D

  8. Hello Alex,

Welcome to change experiences regarding Corsas !

About the tyre question, I also have adopted 160/60 for the rear and for the same reason. Currently I have Pirelli Diablo and for the next set I propably will try Pirelli Diablo Corsa for those very obvious reasons  :D

Yes that's a great grip tire(Pirelli)Though I have never tried them I see them getting top pf the bill critic on tests.I am currently using the Metzeler M1 Sportec and the grip I had (even right out of the box) was unbelievable. The only drawback was that they have a shorter profile than other tires 4,8mm or so.Nevertheles top grip and an about 3,5cm lowering at the back end of the bike had as a result to have the side stand relatively easy scratched on the asphalt after some conciderable lean.

Maybe if I try to lift the back of the bike and gain 1,5inches height to solve the problem, but then again I suspect that this can cost a lot (if it can be done)

Other than that I use iridium spark plugs from NGK at the exact equivelant type ot what the manufaturer suggests for my bike(BPR 6ES ),they work great, highlly recomended.

I was thinking to convert it to twin spark but it hurts me if I think that I have to make holes in my cylinders though it is a "healthy" conversion when it is done correct..

I saw that you had your cylinders bored out, I hope you resolve any problems that may have right now.To tell you the truth If I would ever do such a thing I would do it to Dynotec or to Daes-guzzi (www.dynotec.de http://www.daes-mototec.de)I have been there in Dynotec once and talked to the boss technician Jens Hoffman, actually there is more to than just boring the cylinders and adjusting valves. My :2c: opinion is to contact them too and they may give you some bit of info. Moreover it would also be a good idea since you get your machine running to take it there and check out for further optimising if it needs anything more.It will be worth all the cost.

I bought myCorsa last year and the person who had it has been in Dynotec and probably optimised it(simple a K-N filter and a Dynotec chip in-from the components that I have seen and perhaps valves)Though no boring or whatsoever, I have never had any problem in the last 20K kilometers that I am using it.The most reliable Moto that I have ever got

these "shops: are more than 1000miles away from me, there is also Ghezzi-Brian

in Itally and I suggest that you visit their site http://www.ghezzi-brian.com and check out the"Tuning" section.

    All the best :bier:

  9. Here we go....

Hallo , Gruss Dich.!! :bier: I tour in Europe , last time I have visited Germany 2xtimes, One to buy my1100i Corsa and another to make a big tour 5500km.

I have visited lots of friends there from Pforzheim,to Dortmund to Berlin and so on and drove "ohne ende" :race: .Great time!!I was living there before and I loved that place (ganzes Land)

I thought also that if I buy a second Sport 1100i (96-98 mod/s)I'd be crazy hehe but I think Moto Guzzis are like children you can have more than one :mg::mg: and you can love them all.

    Alles bestens :bier::bier:

    ALEX

  10. Hi, just droped to say hallo,I have also a Corsa 1100i,if there is anything that we can change as experiences I'll be here for.

I bought my Corsa second hand without any Termignionis and after some research was hard to find(the same type that came with the bike), so I am opted for some Mistral, after seeing them at Agostini's shop at Mandelo I seriously concidered them and like them more. They are also made in Mandelo and that for me is A+ (From what I heard Termignoni is bought from tha Japs. and that is not good news to my ear)

The only question should be Carbon , or Titanium? :D

    Mistral.JPG

....Nevermind they both fit O.K. :food:

Have a good success in your work with your Corsa.

I live in Europe in the Mediteranean area (most times) :bier:

BTW which tire dimension do you use at the rear?160/70 or 160/60

I turned to 160/60 because these new sporty tires don't make them in /70 profile.

  11. I haven't quite read all the threads here but I have replaced the Bitubo steering damper with a WP (White Power) and it is Top since the last 15K kilometers that I am using it.

I have a Sport Corsa 1100i and I don't know whether it will fit exact on your machine.Main point is that where that thing is located there was very little space and only this WP was in the right size (+quality) to fit. Besides all the other dumpimg on my MG is from WP (factory). It may fit at yours too.

I 'll give you the serial numbers of the type of the WP and maybe you can try out for your self it it goes. Will be worth the try.

The number of it is 1508 and the codes that there are on the box are 1508 S90 R/STD

The WP is of top Quality and there are reparable (spare parts-service.ect.ect.) if needed

Will try to attach photos .

BTW this WP has also a little "gas tank" and 32 adjusments, you'll find one,and the damping so far is perfect :D

The ohlins is also of perfect quality if it also fits to your bike is also a fie choice.

    Other Experiences.:

Last September I had visited Dynotec in Germany (www.dynotec.de) and rode one of their bikes. It was a blue V11 with minor adjustments i.e twinSpark plugs air filter-chip-exaust (BOS) producing a ganuine 100+HP at the wheel ,I took it for a ride because I was thinking to do the same adjustments to my bike.Anyway the point is that there was no steering damper on the bike, I could feel the front steering a little light (the whole bike was lighter)though its forks felt planted on the ground.(these guys have all the know how).

After speaking about this subject too with Jens (Hoffmann-the one who's making themoster power guzzis and owner of the firm)he told me that these Guzzis (mine too) don't really need (or suffer)a steering damper.

That is also an opinion that you might need to know.Well of course the way I like to feel my steering and have it a bit heavier + I meet bumpy roads most time my damper has given me so far more confidence (because I have something there, that I have the steering feel that I like and the way I like it)

Yes it is the way you want it to be,you ride the bike, if it feels better the way you ride I think this is the most important criteria :bier:

P.S. Nice to meet you all this is my first post here.I Live in Europe
