The rear shock just stopped working from time to time and then gave up altogether.
I had mentioned to the dealer that all was not well for over 12 months in the warranty period.
Thow this back at you dealer and if your can not get any satisfactoy action from him try phoning John Sample Auto the importers of Guzzi in Aust.

May as well through my worth in here as well. Quoting directly from the web site of a company that do TiN coating (The coating forms a metallurgical bond to the substrate that will not flake, blister, chip or peel. In fact, the coating is actually implanted slightly into the surface layer of the substrate). To me this sounds like there may have been a problem with the coating process. They also state that TiN is a low friction surface. So while this in it self will not cause any problems (worn gold coating that is) with the function of the forks it surely must be enough to cause consearn of premature wear. Both of my bikes still look good and so far have only had to replace one set of seals (Scura) it now has 36,000kms.

I also have to push the locating arm for the bevel box back onto the bushing (or more correctly press the busing back into the arm) since it currently rubs against the box. Is this a common problem, and if so, what is the cure?
Just fixed this bush on my Scura. Take the arm off the bike as it's likely both ends need replacing. Press or tap the bushes out remove the center sleeve from the bushes as you will be reusing these. Take both pieces to any local suspension shop they will measure them up and give you a poly type bush that your old center sleeve will slide into. Best bit being that this cost you less than ten dollars.

Push the hose toward the rear of the tank to take the pressure off the coupling then push with the grey ring towards the front of the bike until it slides off. They can be a bit stubborn.

Had problems with that switch on my Scura cleaned it using the method above and no problem since. However if the switch can be replaced cheaply enough.
-
It does sound like the neutral swich but before you run out and buy a replacement switch these are simply a plunger style switch which can most likely be easily fixed. Remove switch submerge it in hot soapy water working the plunger in and out a few minutes. Check opperation of switch with multimeter (easier than hooking it up to the bike) use wd40 or similar to remove water from switch before replacing it, hope this helps.

After a couple of weeks on the Scura with new clutch I must say I miss the extra bit of grunt that it had over my LM or at least it feels that way, I wont know for sure until I can get my friend over and we take both bikes out for a run.

Solo
It cost me 2480 Aust. for parts
As for having the flywheel tested I don't think so I am curious though and
I will get some pictures up in the next couple of days for you.

Hope you get enough replies to see if there is some pattern. For anyone still running the single plate it is not a high mileage plate. That said at least replacing clutch plate, pressure plate should'nt be such a big cost compared to replacing the whole unit.

Uable to risk it any longer put the SCURA into the shop to have the twin plate unit installed. Picked up the bike today, feels good no more snatchy clutch. I bought this bike new it has 36k km on it with no sign of flywheel trouble. I asked the shop to pay close attention when removing the old unit for anything that was not as should be. The old flywheel shows no signs of fractures but that's only by visual inspection. The clutch plate on the other hand shows plenty of wear with approx. only 5-6k km wear left. The teeth on the clutch plate were also worn down to a point so while this had no caused any problems so far, it would have not to far down the track. So to all you SCURA owners out there this may offer some small peace of mind. I don't think it would have made any difference to my decision. If anyone wants a complete single plate unit just let me know and its yours for the the price of postage.

The neutal light on my Scura stopped working within the first months of having the bike. I put this down to a faulty bulb as all the switches stand, clutch ect. all seemed to work correctley. At about 3yrs old it stopped starting with the side stand down. I removed the gearbox neutral switch gave it a very good clean in hot soapy water working the plunger in and out until I got a reading on the multimeter indicating it was now making contact. Dewatered the switch put it back in and six months later it's still working perfectlly and as a bonus the neutral light now works.

DO a search for PINGING if thats your problem and higher octane fuel should help. You have not went into any detail as to when this noise is occuring.
-
A bit of a long shot but try checking your horn
-
Agreed higher octane needed. Petrol in NZ shoud be about the same as Aust I only run 95 or 98 and on hot days sometimes still get a small amount of ping. If you can get it try adding some Nulon PRO Strength octane booster it will stop the pinging some octane boosters will not. Works great in my SCURA, the Rosso does not really seem to need it though.

And we finally on the map

I rang my dealer in brisbane and he quoted me $2,600 parts only to change over to the twin plate. There has to be a better deal than this. Someone please respond and help out us Aust. Scura riders
To be honest that doesn't sound too bad. Sorry, but a new RAM clutch purchased locally will be in the $1100 range. .
Pete
It looks like to me I would be a lot better off buying a clutch from Germany. Even with shipping costs I'm going to come out well over $1000 in front. BTW Tommy quoted approx. $500 labor which sounded reasonable to me. It was $2600 parts only

You are more than likely right that most of these failures are not being claimed, as most failures are probably occuring outside the warranty period.

Timnic - did your clutch break too?
Hlancee, with yours I make that at least seven documented here, Paul reckons it's more...Can you tell us were flywheel bolts tight when you stripped it down? Have you checked the other threads? - not sure, but it might be easier to get at info if we keep to same threads to discuss. (See"Scura Clutch" to see photos of another failure same as yours). What # is your Scura? I know the ltd ed #'s are probably arbitrary but it may tell us something? It may be worth trying to collate frame #'s. I still intend to try & get Guzzi to do something on this.

No mine has not broken yet but with seeing that yet another has broken I am begining to worry and would rather change it now rather than wait for it to break

Hello all
Just letting you know that the clutch on my scura has self destructed.
so I suppose I am number five in the known scura clutch failure list.
it looks to me that the cracking of the carrier starts around the centre
( where it is bolted to the crank shaft).
The main crankshaft oil seal got chewed up by the bits of alloy.
this caused oil to be sprayed all over my back tyre.
after that it was like riding on ice. nearly lost it going around a bend.
the damage was confined to the clutch assembly itself and some scoring of the
transmission housing.
I am thinking of replacing the single plate clutch with the standard twin plate
because I do not want a re run of my experiences. can anyone tell me if there is
an re engineered single plate clutch available?

hi new to the forum
I was lucky to take delivery of a scura R back in june . It is by far the best guzzi ive ridden i love it . could do with some tips on suspension settings as the bike feels out of balance when pushed hard . The front forks seem to be missing the alan key adjustment in the centre which is shown in the hand book (book of lies).
Only fault found , Good old guzzi dust under the paint on the tank. they want the tank sent back before they will replace it .
The word is they only built 20 of the type R , 4 of which are in the uk is this true?
Love the site top marks
jim
Hi JIm
Congradulations on your purchase,I don't know how many of the R's they made. However I have a Scura and a Rosso Corsa both of which have exactly the same forks as far as adjustments are concerned. The large blue nut on the top of your forks adjusts spring preload in the center of that same nut should be a dampening adjustment the other danpening adustment should be located on the rear side of your forks just behind the axle. Hope this helps.
