  1. Nice trip report. Lots of good pictures. Maggie and I covered a few of the same areas in September. A trip to remember, that was.
  2. Could be something as simple as the ground on the tach.
  3. I've had a similar charging issue on my Lemans for a while and have been following this thread for advise. I swapped out the regulator for one I saved off the wrecked Centauro. The charging light would still flicker erratically. It seemed as though something bouncing around in the circuit was turning the charging system on and off. Sometimes the light would stay on, sometimes it would stay off. I checked the connections between the regulator and the wiring harness and they looked good. I thought maybe I had two bad regulators. I borrowed a third one from a friend. Same old, same old. Now I know it's not the regulator. I pulled the alternator cover off for a squizz. Sure enough one of the yellow wires broke off right where it was soldered to the stator. I brought the stator to work and had a professional solder it back together and it seems all is well.
  4. 3k rmp is quite low for cranking on the throttle. 5k is much better.
  5. My wife and I took a tour of the northern part of Italy getting back a couple weeks ago. Here is a link to a rather longish report with links to the pictures. The museum is in there on day 8. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=21025.0
  6. Futbol Funnies... After a visit to the doctor, Joe Bloggs, the city team's centre forward dropped in to his local pub for a quick one. "What's up mate?" asked his friend Brian, "you look worried." "Yes, I am," Joe replied. "I've just been to the doctor's and he told me I can't play football." "Oh, really?" said Brian. "He's seen you play too then, has he?" *** An American visitor to England watched his very first football match and was struck by the differences between English and American football. After the match he fell into conversation with one of the English players and remarked, 'You know, over in the States, our players wear thick protective clothing. You guys must be frozen stiff in those light clothes.' 'It's not so bad,' said the Englishman. 'Sometimes the ground is covered in snow.' 'You don't say!' exclaimed the American. 'What do you do about the balls? Paint them red?' 'Oh, no,' said the player. 'We just wear an extra pair of shorts.' *** The top scorer of a Premier League team was tragically killed in a car accident. Seeing an opportunity for glory, the reserve striker went to see the manager. "How about me taking his place?" he asked. "Well, I'm not sure about that," said the manager, "we'll have to speak to the undertaker first." *** The Devil was constantly challenging St Peter to a game of soccer, but St Peter refused, until one day while walking around' heaven he discovered that quite a number of international footballers had entered the 'pearly gates'. "I think I'll arrange to play that soccer game," said St Peter to the Devil. "We have a great number of international soccer stars in heaven at the moment from which to select a winning team." "You'll lose, you'll lose!" taunted the Devil. "What makes you so sure we'll lose?" enquired St Peter. "Because," laughed the Devil, "we have all the referees down here." *** A woman was reading a newspaper one morning and said A her husband, 'Look at this, dear. There's an article here about a man who traded his wife for a season ticket to Arsenal. You wouldn't do a thing like that,-would you?' 'Of course I wouldn't!' replied her husband. 'The season's almost over!'
  7. Removing the fairing in one piece is super easy. I take it off before removing the tank. Remove mirrors. Remove the two screws in front of the turn signals. Disconnect turn signal wires. Remove the two front lower screws from the scoop panels. Remove the two screws nearest your knees. Go around front and grab both side panels. Pull side panels slightly apart and slide fairing forward.
  8. Maybe a hose clamp used to secure the sinker would give more peace of mind.
  9. Any of the usual suspects would have the gasket. Moto International, MPH, MG Cycle, Fast by Ferraci, Eish, Uncommon, Harpers. It's the same one used in the Tonti models since '74. I believe you can put in an extra quart of oil. That should bring the level to just below the plate.
  10. That engine probably has a separate hydraulic unit for supplying the lubrication to the system. 100 HP 300 gallons. Dual filters so the dirty one can be cleaned while the other is being used. I'll bet those filters are the size of garbage cans.
  11. They are available and not expensive. I've successfully glued them back together using a polyurethane glue.
  12. If I'm not mistaken there is a Nissan color that is a perfect match.
  13. It is not a huge PITA. I've had the tank off my LeMans about a half dozen times. Having the external fuel pump puts the fuel pressure regulator a tight squeeze against the air box. The electrical lines are snug against the spine so fouling should not be an issue. Reaching under to reconnect those lines at the filler can be a chore.
  14. You could siphon off some of the gas into your lawn mower. Since your fuel pump is in the gas tank I'm not familiar how those hoses are disconnected. Directions are posted here somewhere. Once you've raised the gas tank some you can reach under and disconnect the hoses that reach up to the gas cap.
  15. An idea I've been kicking around for some time involves moving the fuel pump and filter to the rear subframe away from the heat. There looks to be room between the upper rear subframe rails and the tail carapiece on either side for those components to reside.
  16. On my LeMans the screw is simply a hex screw. On the Centauro the screw has been removed. If I could make the beast run with the sidestand down like the LeMans does, I would put the screw back in.
  17. You might ask Dan if he'd be more interested in memorabilia given your location. I know I would.
  18. Adding my 2 cents, my similar problem went away when I replaced the relays.
  19. Welcome to the madness, Nan. As to the discussion about it being a LeMans. If the bike is an '01 and it's metallic green like the BOTM it is a V11 Sport. I have two spine frames and am still drawn to the green one. Gorgeous color scheme!
