  1. I didn't see any pics of that "beautiful" Guzzi chopper? :vomit: I'm sure it won peoples choice award again, so much for the peoples good taste!

    Hal

    Gee-

Wonder why I failed to take pictures of it?

    :huh2:

I might be alone on this -- but I found it really annoying that he blarbled that silly thing up and down the dirt road in front of the lodge and around the pond... made it feel like a HD poseur event with that going on.

    :bbblll:

  2. Mine was pretty much "plug and play" with a bit of a flat spot in the 4,200 to 5,000 range, if I remember correctly. It burped and farted a bit, but that seemed to be resolved when I put on the Mistral X-over. I am not sure if the Mistral fixed it, or if I just hadn't sufficiently tightened everything, and upon reassmbly of the entire exhaust when I did the X-over, the thing healed itself.

Here are my pics of r/r of OEM to Titanium

Sorry if the link didn't work -

I'm trying to fix it now.

  3. That was a great day! Funny though, you took pictures of a few bikes that I didn't see, and I was there all day! Joe

Really? We weren't even there that long - and people began leaving before we did.

Unfortunately, it was a quite short event for us. 300 mile round trip, and we were only there from 12:00 to 2:00.

We had to get back to the City so my wife could attend her conference - big cocktail shalliwag kicked off the affair Sunday night.

We were surprised at how quickly we made it back into NY because we thought there'd be God-awful traffic (but traveling at high rates of speed will do that!!!!), so once I parked the Coppa, we ducked into a pub for a couple drinks, then walked through a street fair on our way back to the hotel.

Sometimes I miss living in a City. Never lived in NYC, but I lived in SF for a few years, and it was great in the summer time with all the street fairs and whatnot. I could do without the traffic and lack of parking though!

Ohh yeah - I paid the most per gallon for gas ever on our way up to Sturbridge. Noticed I needed gas not long out of NYC, so I stopped in Rye. Gas was $3.69/gal. I know that ain't much for you folks across the pond, but it was about a full dollar more per gallon than I had paid in Virginia the day before!

  4. Sean & John, they serve food and booze in the lodge. It's pretty greasy food though, so you may want to eat somewhere else before you get there.

I'm not sure if I'm going to make it now. My son's hockey team has a practice is at 12:40 so I'll have to see if the other coaches can get by without me.

I hope the other coaches can go it w/o you.

    :bbblll:

    :D

Thanks for the tip re. the lodge.

    :food:

Looking forward to seeing y'all (whoever that includes) up there!

  5. I have the moto mount from Garmin and a RAM kit. On my previous bike I just routed the wire to the Battery, but I'm hoping there is a more sophisticated way... Where did you put the RAM mount? On the handlebars or on the inside of the fairing?

    KiloSjon

I have the Quest II and I bought the Ram mount kit. Unfortunately, when I tried to mount it the U bolt was too narrow to fit on the Coppa's bars. Has anyone else experienced this? How did you resolve it? Is there a bigger U-bolt/mounting kit?

  6. Unfortunately, a lot of folks lost bikes in MN. You might get interest from someone looking to replace a bike.

If you relist anywhere, I'll give you the same advice was given me (I'm in the seller's market as well)- explicitly state that this is not a flood bike.

    Good point, jrt.

And sad as it is to lose the bikes in the flood, most of the owners will be looking to replace them with a new (or new to them) Guzzi when the insurance checks come.

    Mike-

I'd wait another week or so until those insurance claims start getting paid off... then those guys who've always wanted a Nero might be in a position to buy yours.

No disrespect meant to those of you who lost your bikes... I'm just giving my :2c: to a friend who is trying to sell his awesome Nero Corsa.

  7. I would like to take some measurements. Anyone has open up the odometer? Suggestions?

This piece is easy to make and I will be able to get a bunch made.

Mine hasn't snapped yet (of course, it will tomorrow, now that I've said that), but if you do make them, put me on your list as a buyer... I'll just throw it in the tool kit and make use of it when the inevitable occurs!

    :luigi:

  8. Damn Mike-

    I can't believe it hasn't sold.

Next to my Coppa, the Nero is far and away my favorite modern Guzzi.

That is an INCREDIBLY FAIR price (IMHO). Somebody is going to get an awesome bike.

Again - best of luck getting a price that makes you happy!

    :bier:

PS: it might sell quicker if you throw on a pic or two with one of your lady friends posing with it!

  9. I just spotted an advert for it in the MGNOC newsletter. Moto International advertises it at $249. "One model fits the early Sports with 170 rear tire, the other fits later Sports and V11s with 180 tire." Greg's number is 206-297-3822, email is parts@motointernational.com

    :homer:

    Thanks -

I guess that was a bit of pertinent info I left out!

  10. Then your a lucky man with very likely a different seat design than mine. :bier:

I didn't detect the problem at first. The plastic seat base had some flex in it, and the somewhat flexible metal tang on the front and somewhat flexible battery holder all helped in forcing the seat down. The seat was a little hard to latch, but I didn't think anything of it until I saw battery acid on the rear end after a ride and investigated. After the mods, no problem latching the seat down, or battery leaks.

Yowza - battery acid on the rear end... that would be no bueno.

Honestly, I had no idea this (size of the Odyssey battery) was an issue for ANYONE. Mine fit in there so well and looked like such a dead-ringer for OEM that I thought it was a perfect match.

I'll chalk mine up to being lucky then, and just be happy with that!

    :bier:

  11. Sean, where did your centre stand come from, it looks a nice bit of kit? Can you post a few more details please e.g. how much? How effective in use etc?

    Cheers John :food:

    John -

I bought it from Moto International in Seattle. Call Greg Field and he should be able to hook you up. I don't know where they source them - but I am guessing this it is closer to you since you are in Leeds. Perhaps TLM will have them for you on that side of the pond. I do not know.

I don't recall the exact figure because I bought it at the same time I bought the Mistral X-over, some gasket sets and a bunch of other stuff. I think it is in the $300 USD range, but I am not sure (could have been $50 more or less than that - I honestly don't remember).

Installation was a snap since I had already removed the charcoal cannister and X-over. But if you weren't planning to do that already, it would be more of a pain in the neck because you'll have to get under there and remove those so that you can access the area where 2 mounting tabs fasten to bolts on the charcoal cannister's retaining bracket. The other two mounting brackets fasten to the lowest bolts of bike's the "pork chops." Get that all fixed up, then put the x-over back on and throw the charcoal cannister away (or put it on a shelf - whatever).

Effective? Very for the reason I wanted it. My closest "reliable" shop is in another state. I already have the V11 shop stand for home use. But, I am planning some long trips this fall and even longer ones next year, so I really wanted the center stand for roadside and/or parking lot maintenance issues.

  12. Okay-

I'm happy to be corrected. I didn't take measurements when I swapped the dead OEM for Odyssey, but I will tell you that the damn things "LOOKED" absolutely identical right down to the hex wrench connections.

FWIW re. seat tolerances - I've never had an issue with the seat improperly latching, and I seriously doubt the battery rubs the seat pan.

    :drink:

  13. Below is a link to the process of when I mounted my centerstand and Mistral X-over.

I will add to this with a write-up of the step-by-step if people want me to. But suffice to say, if I can do it with my ham fists and 10 thumbs, anyone can!

    http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLandingSi...mshare&Ux=0

You will note that the OEM X-over did not have an O2 sensor, whereas the Mistral did. I went to a local auto parts store to find an appropriate plug (they gave me blank stares when I asked for an O2 Sensor Plug, so I just grabbed the ones I thought would work... when none worked, I returned with the X-over in hand and found the right one) and then I went to the Home Depot to get a washer that fit with the plug.

  14. Thank you VA Sean. So I am confused now. I am thinking of the air box open lid by FBF, PCIII, Stucchi crossover and FBF mufflers. Do you think it will be ok?

I wish I had an educated, supportable answer for you, but I do not. I don't even pretend to have mechanical knowledge, so I really rely on the good folks on this board and some other boards for assistance. I have learned that the dealer where I bought my bike 2 years ago pretty much sucks, so I have been DIY for the past year. That is something I had never dreamed of prior to buying my bike.

To be quite honest, I have dealt with Greg a number of times and I really trust him and value what he has to say. I went with my set-up because it seemed that it was what I was looking for based on his write-up.

    I HAVE NOT BEEN DISAPPOINTED!

    Will you be ok?

IM(very uneducated)O - sure... If that is the set-up that you want, I am sure it will work and I am sure there are plenty of guys on this board who've done the exact same thing (maybe they'll even chime in!!!). It sounds like a good set-up, and if you are skilled at tuning at all, or will be taking it to someone who is, then I can't imagine it being a big problem.

  15. I think it has been about 3 months since I put on the Ti pipes and ECU, and about 3 weeks since I mounted the Mistral X-over.

Doesn't appear to have the flat spot in the 4,000 rpm range, and the acceleration from 4,500 rpm up to redline is amazing, with no apparent loss in low-end grunt - plus the bike sounds awesome in those high rpm passes.

I haven't experienced any popping on deceleration like I had with the OEM system, nor the gargling backfires that I had prior to putting on the Mistral X-over. I knock on wood and hope that is permanently fixed.

Finishing touches will be a PCIII (and possibly Racer-X's header down tubes) and getting the bike to someone with a dyno, but I likely won't do that until spring of next year.
