ls it just me or does the 2007 Harley 1200 prototype look very Grisso-ish????
The Sportster's are the only Harleys that have had even the lest amount of interest for me, and l always liked the XR 750's ...flat trackers are cool !!..Maybe Harley could build a bike l'd like........ ..no. l don't think so.
Cheers
Van
It's just you.
The Griso looks nothing like an American flat tracker.

you haven't read one line of what she wrote so i propose we call it a day and let the real topic go his way, ok ?
I googled it last night, but I'm willing to let it go.
I'd rather talk motorcycles, anyway !!!
-
oh, yes, she's an animal rights activist and that's ok.
But she is definitively not the person she was when she worked and was subliminated by Serge Gainsbourg, and has expressed definitive and very radical opinions about politics and religion I rather not get into on this fine forum.
She's been found guilty and condemned three times by courts for racism due to writings and declarations she made and is married to a guy belonging to the FN, a french extreme right movement. She has been on some TV shows and clearly called, and was condemned by courts, for racial hate a few times.
So, we're a long way from the innocent sexy looking blonde she was back in the sixties...
Too bad there's no 1st Amendment in France.
So she doesn't like muslim terrorists and is willing to write about it.
It's no wonder France is being overrun.

the once splendid 1960's sex icon Brigitte Bardot (she has turned into a very sour extreme right-winger, and her beauty, both inside and outside, is definitively in the past)
Since when is an "animal rights activist" an extreme right-winger ???
She was born in 1934. It's not unusual for a person to lose a little beauty by the time they reach 72 !!!!!
Why the slam on Brigette ???

The theme song for my September moto-holiday:
artist: Billy Idol lyrics
title: Summer Running
album: Devil's Playground
(Billy Idol/Steve Stevens)
We spent the summer running
Scared of what they might do
After we spent the winter crying
In the mist we came all unglued
Sometimes back to school
It seems so sad
And nothing's new
Until I spent the summer running
Just we two
Just we two
I followed you to Zion
The four corners and the redwoods too
The Mesa in Arizona
The Grand Canyon and Las Vegas too
All the bad-brained people
One of these days we'll run over you
And spend the summer running
Just we two
Just we two
I don't walk
I run
Ridin' into the sun
On my motorcycle
We can just blow
I don't know
What's ahead
We don't talk of the dead
On my motorcycle
C'mon let's go
'Cos there's always
There's always
The world you know
The world you know
Well I wear a grim
Smile day after day, baby
As I'm working into our future
Oh yeah
And I take a quick drink
In a world that stinks, baby
'Cos I'm standing up against the furies
Oh yeah
I can escape
I've got a Batman's cape
And I can cover myself, and baby
Yes I'm flying
I'm flying
I'm flying tonight
Oh yeah
Just we two
Runnin' down the highway
Smilin' at the problems
'Cos there's always
There's always
The world you know
The world you know
We spent the summer running
Just we two
Just we two
Just we two

Another Billy Idol tune - Blue Highway:
SO MY GOOD friends
Your super drug ends
I go up to the stratosphere
Brain fry day glo
Holy water for your soul
And I wake up in the USA
Oh you know we're gonna ride
On a blue highway
Walk with ELECTRO GLIDE
On a blue highway
Wave HELLO TO CHRIST
on my highway
Yes I almost died
On a blue highway
Oh the Sons from Mars
On stolen guitars
are out to ride the night life
Soul sister, soul hitter
I hear you and I miss you
Co-starring in the USA
Oh you know we're gonna ride
On a blue highway
Walk with ELECTRO GLIDE
On a blue highway
Wave Hello to Christ
on my highway
Yes I almost died
On a blue highway
Why do I miss you
Why did I kiss you
Because
Oh you know we're gonna ride
On a blue highway
Walk with ELECTRO GLIDE
On a blue highway
Wave Hello to Christ
on my highway
Yes I almost died
On a blue highway
So glad that you're living now
I'm glad that you're here
I'm glad that you wanna stay
Because
Oh you know we're gonna ride
On a blue highway
Walk with ELECTRO GLIDE
On a blue highway
Wave Hello to Christ
on my highway
Yes I almost died
On THE blue highway
On THE blue highway
Quaaludes and red wine for love
Yes there's a time a time for love
Then you kissed me
On a blue highway
Why do I miss you
Why did I kiss you
I think the book "Blue Highways" was his inspiration...

Bring the Mgs02 now !
Yes!
BRING THE MGS-02 NOW !!!
-
My Sport corsa came with the same front brakes as the 996 & 996 SPS.
Mandello haven't been keeping up since your bike was built in 1998.
-
Actually, it's because Moto Guzzi has been on such a fragile financial footing for decades now, that the sourced componentry has been brought down to a price rather than up to a quality.
Ciao, Steve
I agree.
A quick look at the brakes Guzzi is sourcing from Brembo indicates exactly what you are pointing out. The master cylinders, calipers and rotors are sourced from near the bottom of Brembo's line not the top. My Nero Corsa came equipped with the cheap steel-carrier rotors and old-tech master cylinders. Compare what is on any LeMans to what is on a Ducati 999 and you will see what I mean.
Dropping the tubeless wheels from most of the California line back in 2001 was another example of bringing quality down to a price.

Only folks like us, who appreciate the V11 for what it is, have kept MG alive.
Actually, it's sales of the CALIFORNIA line that have kept Guzzi afloat over the past few years.
V11 Sport/LeMans sales are a drop in the bucket by comparison.
No one really wants to spend $12000+ for an underperforming/quirky machine that needs lots of $$ to make work correctly.
Exactly why the V11 Sport/LeMans series never sold well when sitting in the dealerships.
My Nero Corsa's MSRP was what? $14,995 ??? The first owner paid $11,000 for it. I was happy to pay $10,000 for it one year old with 2,300 miles on the clock.
Heck, the dealers have even had a bit of trouble selling Cafe Sports and Sport Nakeds at "firesale" prices. I think Moto International still has some Ballabios and Cafe Sports...
-
That is precisely what Guzzi has been doing since it has been acquired by the Piaggio Group:
Models presented in spring or fall (i.e. Breva and Griso 850, 1200 Sport) were immediately available in the shops the day of the press release. Models presented at the winter expo (i.e. Norge) were in the shops the following spring.
So all the three models presented next week in Milan will be available at the latest around march 2007.
My guess is actually that the Norge 850 might be available even soon.
G.
Wanna bet?
G.
I guess time will tell...

Could be anything really. What they show doesn't have to run or be economically producable or even possible. They show it one year and maybe it hits the market three years later. The best thing they could do would be to show NOTHING that is not ready for market that very day. Any other strategy runs counter to the company's and customer's best interests.
I agree.
Things like the V10/V11 GT and the Ippogriffo were wastes of time and money to put on the show circuit if they weren't going to put them in production.
Showing an MGS-01 Strada was just cruel to Guzzi Sportbike enthusuasts.
Dream bikes may be good for big companies. Guzzi needs to show production bikes.

- GRISO 1200cc 8 valve
- CUSTOM 940cc
- NORGE 850cc
We will see in few days if is true or not...
Norge 850, maybe... The other two, no way...
I think we'll see a Quota replacement and some version of a road-going MGS-01.
-
I'm showing my newb-ness here but can someone tell me what a hugger is?
Also....are there other exhaust systems out there like this one? The idea of less bling is appealing to me. Any speculation as to how sexy/loud this would sound?
hmmm.....I think I might go German!
Alan
rear mud guard.
tightly covers the rear wheel.
-
Is that a Simpson helmet staring at us? I just bought a Roof Diversion. I like it. A little more restricted vision than my ancient AGV, but that is probably partly due to it meeting ECE chin impact standard. Its nice to have a helmet that doesnt stink or leave disintegrated liner in your hair.
It's an Arai Renegade that I've had for about five years.
-
I use these ones from rossopuro (see above sponsors of site).
Look good and propably protect as well.
Rosso Puro makes some cool stuff...

Why would anyone throw bags over a V11?
...if you wanted to go for a little ride. However, I prefer hard bags.
This photo was taken on my recent trip from Virginia to Utah. 4500 miles in two weeks.
These are "sport-touring" bikes, aren't they?
-
Look closely at the struts. They go from both mounting holes on the rear pegs and appear to join then wrap around the rear of the tailpiece.
I'm guessing they are intended to keep throw-over bags from fouling the rear wheel.
-
the carbon hugger is kinda cool, too...
-
I loves that MGS-01 !!!
-
The Guzzi V-8, of course !!!
-
I voted for MGS-01.
What we'll probably see is a "Stelvio" or "Quota" that is basically a Norge with dual sport tyres.
Maybe, just maybe, there will be a superbike with an Aprilia V-twin engine.
I'm not too excited right now about the model lineup since seeing the 1200 Sport.
-
I'd be interested in an A-guard and a B-guard, too, when you're back in-country...
-
My Sport 1100 with FCR 41s and full Staintune is faster than my stock Nero Corsa. Noticeably faster.
The suspension and transmission are so much better on the Nero that a little drop in power isn't bothering me too bad.
I'm hoping to do the exhaust/PCIII to the Nero, then maybe my old Sport won't have anything on my new Nero.
Well, except aerodynamics. The Nero's airflow past my helmet is smooth, alright, but it's much LOUDER than the Sport 1100. Go figure.
The Sport 1100 is probably the quietest faired sportsbike I've ever ridden, wind noise wise anyway...
No it won't the alternator has been moved between the V to allow everyone that wanted to run coffe makers hair straitener's (never such a thing existed till the other day) and all the other do dads on top of making sparkes pumpin fuel and seeing where you are going. The engine has also been shifted forward so I'm no sure about mounting pionts transmission lengths etc etc. Yes they can be overcome but after riding the Griso, how much better the 1200 is I don't know they keep disappearing off the local dealers floor, as a sports bike motor in the current market it will be seriously under done IMO. It will need some more go to back up the show.
...that can be remedied in the same way they did it on the Cal Vintage,
or they could just revamp the frame...
No big hurdles anyway you slice it.
