  1. I heard a rummor that Hummer was being sold to Mahindra of India any truth in this. All politicans are exposed for their lies it's a way of life for them.

There are all kinds of rumours flying around right now. At Chrysler, too.

Koreans may be interested in Dodge Trucks. Someone else is said to be interested in Jeep.

The US automakers next year may not look anything like they do today.

I just hope the government forces some kind of bankruptcy reorganization on the big three if it decides to hand out money. The way they've been doing business obviously doesn't work. They need to be reorganized, restructured, and probably slimmed down...

  2. 1)So, how about that McCain and his dirty shmear campaign backfiring on him.

2)Do you think the selection of Palin as his running mate was a mistake?

3)I am so happy the color barrier got dented, but

4)I am even happier to have a non-Republican in the White House! Yeeeehooooo!

    5)Happy Days are here again!

1)McCain lost because of his age and his associations with GWB, as well as because of BHO's superior campaining both grass-rootes and internet.

2)Palin was drawing bigger crowds than McCain and was a media sensation, so no I wouldn't call it a mistake.

3)Color Barrier dented in '08? What about Colin Powell, Condelezza Rice, Clarence Thomas, et al? And that's just in this administration.

4)That's what it's really about for you: A Democrat in the White House. It's cool, you don't have to make excuses.

5)I hope BHO makes you "feel good" about the world... And that he is successful in fending off the looming depression...

  3. Comparing HDs and Guzzis on mpg is like comparing apples and oranges.

The internal design follows a completely different philosophy.

HD= low revving, long stroke engine. Undersquare bore/stroke ratio.

Guzzi= high revving (for a pushrod twin), short stroke engine. Oversquare bore/stroke ratio.

Combustion chamber design is also quite different.

My V11 LeMans averages 38mpg. It gets in the low 40s at higher elevations.

  4. Yes but you've got to remeber half these guys come from a country who still thing hard tail bikes are a good idea :P. V7 looks intresting but I agree with Paul a Bellagio based V9.4 would be a hell of a thing to build up.

Seems like a no-brainer to me...

  5. It does not run well in the 2500 to 3800 RPM range but once above 4k it runs great....but dont want to spend a lot of time int raffic or leisurly riding this bike above 4k....Im sure the Italians intended for it to burn above here but .....

Just wanted say, "great looking bike!" Love the solo tail. I've always wanted one. They were EXPENSIVE from Pro Italia ten years ago!

I just looked at your other bikes and the quote above. I can't emphasize enough how different Italian twins are from American ones.

Relative to the HD-based stuff, the Guzzi has a real short stroke and a pretty radical camshaft (made by Crane, btw).

These bikes run best in the 4,000 to 6,000 rpm range. Riding this Sport 1100 around in the 2500 to 3800 rpm range is too low for anything but your average 25mph/30mph city streets.

It will not hurt your Guzzi to run regularly in the 4,000 to 5,000 rpm range in normal riding. That's the bike's sweet spot.

It's a hard adjustment to make, moving from the low-revving HD-based bikes. I had a customer ten years ago who came off a Sportster and never could get used to the Ducati 900SS I sold him because he wanted to run around at 50mph in 6th-gear. He tried to tell me that his 1200S Sportster was "a better performer" than the Ducati !!! Well, he didn't keep the Ducati long because riding over 4,000 rpm was just too foreign for him to try.

    Just some food for thought...

Best of luck getting it sorted...

  6. The simple stuff has been done, right?

Valves set to .10mm intake / .15mm exhaust, right?

You've verified that the plugs and wires are in good order, right?

You've verified that the battery is grounded well, right?

I surely hope you didn't drop all that coin at the dealership in Winchester...

Will Creeden's chip made these injected Sports run much better.

As mentioned previously, I'd verify that the TPS is working properly and adjusted properly.

Without seeing your bike run, it's hard to know how it's really running. The Sport 1100s don't really run clean until 4,000 rpm. If you're trying to ride the thing around at 2500 to 3000 rpm, you're really not doing the bike any favours...

They are much more rough around the edges than the V11 series of bikes. Some people like that. Me. Some people just can't adjust to how elemental the bikes are.

    Good luck with it.

  7. Oh yay private company run by democracy that'll work! by defintion you can't have a road legal Corsa (unless your first name is troy) Corsa = race, you could have a road legal MGS however.

    I have a road-legal (Nero) Corsa... :D

  8. As for the wire wheel issue, I am shaking my head why Moto Guzzi, Triumph, and others do not adopt the style of wheel that they use out of Spandau. Having the spokes attach outside the sealing of the tire rim makes perfect sense. Having individual seals on every one of the spokes, to me just makes no sense. The possibilioty of a seal compromise must be higher.

    Steve

Take your BMW or Moto Guzzi EV wheels to a wheel shop and ask to have them trued or repaired.

Then take a set of Alpinas or these new Excels.

    You will have your answer.

concerning depredations leveled against Japanese bikes, Buells or any other motorcycle perceived

as inferior [as if this somehow worked as reverse praise for Moto Guzzis - which need no defense] :

a real motorcycle is one ridden by a real motorcyclist.

    hope i'm not off topic.

Love the paint scheme, but the decal placement is horrid. Why they didn't make it more horizontal and follow the lines of the tank, I'll never know...

  11. Thanks everyone

My favorite bike (i have owned 4) has been a Ducati 900 ssie. I dont like Japanese bikes (souless) I loved my last Guzzi. I sold an S4rs Monster couple of years ago, loved the power and handling, and although i went to europe, it was cramped and no fairing (why i wont buy a 1200 sport). I currently have a triumph T955i (595 shape), its great with slightly raised bars (comfort) and handles and goes as fast as i will ever need, but i park it in the shed and have no love for it. I know i will love the Guzzi, just really wanted to know if they handle and last.

reply to savagehenry, with respect to the Tenni have there been other special V11 le mans???

2002 - Tenni ( Green paint, Black nitrided Marzocchi)

2003 - Rosso Corsa (Red checker board paint, Ohlins)

2004 - Nero Corsa (Black checker board paint, Ohlins)

If your favourite bike has been a Ducati Supersport, then I would say you are a candidate for a spine-frame Guzzi. With the proper suspension setup and a good set of tires, the bikes can be made to handle quite well. They don't have a lot of power, but gains can be had with a moderate amount of expense. Exhaust, Power Commander, Pistons, etc...

  12. Somebody just had the zoom set on the "wide" end of the range instead of stepping back a few feet to get everything in view w/ the adjustment set more to the middle of the range [or better yet, on "tele"...]

Back in the days of silver on film, I once boosted my gf's cup size a couple steps, made her taller and dropper her weight about 15lbs by judicious use of my 24mm lens [35mm camera.] The gf is long gone, but I regret losing that lens MUCH more than losing her... ^_^

Yep. It's fun making girls' legs longer, too, using the same techniques...

  13. Just found this in EP&F's used bikes section...

A Scura with LeMans fairing, Ballabio bars, GiVi luggage...

Man, what a great solo sport-touring mount this would be!!!

    ScuraTouring.jpg

  14. Put in a big block and you'll lose the 405lbs weight that makes the V7Classic a fun little bike.

The engine and tranny of a big block are heavy chunks!

Maybe if Guzzi would use billet engine internals... But that would be mucho $$$...

A "classic" big block would be this bodywork on the current Cal Vintage Tonti frame. The Cal Vintage weighs 550lbs...

  15. The two Yuasa batteries that were OEM in my 1996 Sport 1100 lasted eight years.

That's not bad, so when the time came, I replaced them with two new Yuasas.

That was four years ago. They're still going strong.
