  1. I changed the clutch on my v11sport 00 skipping from DP to SP (before having heard of any failure :( ). The difference is important and thanks to lower inertia, accelerations are much better, especially at low rev.

In counterpart, the engagement point is very far and it is necessary to adjust the lever to have the maximum stroke. Furthermore, as the inertia is reduced, noise at idle increases a lot.

I don't regret my choice so far, but it's hard to ride crossing my fingers :D

    Cheers

  2. Hello Chris,

I did thid mod on my own V11. You need a Kawasaki 500 GPZ extender (94 ->) available at Pyramid Plastics and then just cut and drill it to look like the one on the pic.

Fitting is not very easy because as far as remenber, the Kawa fender is more round than the Guzzi but fortunately, the plastic of the extender is quite soft.

    Cheers

  3. Hello Aquila,

Antonio already answered question #1 so i can talk about the others.

    2) mirror holes are drilled in the bracket but not on the fairing, as far as I remember. You will also have to drill holes for the windscreen.

    3) I don't know cause I was already using lower bars.

    4) Pros : the look!!!

    nice finish

    good protection

Cons : not very easy mounting -> be patient and cautious specially with the V

bracket that is NOT symetrical (I lost 1 hour and folded 2 screws

before I admited ther was a problem with this bracket position). :homer:

Check there are no contact specially between fairing bottom and fork

    tubes.

higher "dirty"noise level. The fairing amplifies engine noise

Aniway, I think it is a worth-while job and I just can encourage you to do it. :bike:

    Cheers.

  4. About levers, they are the same on Ducati (same supplier : Brembo) and twice cheaper in

France ; maybe you should check if it's the same over the Atlantic.

Though I hope you won't need it, it is the same for footrest, rear light,...

Just one more thing, take a few minutes to withdraw the spark-plug on the damaged side; it may

has hit the ground and can be damaged inside. It happenned to me once and the bike then

was working on one cylinder sometimes( the upper end, under the cap, was twisted and maybe a

crack began to grow up after the bike fell down.

    Good luck.

  5. Hello Matthieu,

"But then, isn't it how the 1100i are set-up?"

Sure, but bikes have sometimes irritating defaults when on stock configuration because of cost

or marketing reason (I remember for instance the grease spraying chain on my previous

Mostro or the lack of drain screw on modern forks). As we are enthusiasts, we generally

    accept that...

Back to the hugger, I've obviously not performed any durability test on my bike but I'm sure

that splashing the shock absorber with not only water but also small particles of sand can't be

    good thing. :D

    Cheers.

  6. Hello Mike and Matthieu,

I agree with you about the Magni fairing (expencive but really beautiful and correctly

    designed).

On the other hand, withdrawing the rear hugger gives a better look but what about the shock

    absorber ?

Sincerely, I think the stock mudguard is not a success as it leads dirt directly to the bottom

part of the shock absorber but I'm afraid that could be worse without it.

A solution should be to protect that zone with rubber sheet (used for repairing shoes) fixed

    with plastic clamps.

Have you any idea about this point or do you ride only when the sun is shining ?

    :D

    Best Regards.

  7. Thank you all for your quick answers. It seems there is no real problem but I just needed to

be sure as I'm not used to let 3 or 400 euros (= $) going by the drain.

I work in automotive industry and I know we can find in ECU some lethal traps for mere

mechanics ; for exemple, I remember a "spark plug disassembly counter" on a VW engine

that forbade engine start after about 10 spark plug disassemblies.

Fortunately, bikes are not so sophisticated (for the moment ?).

    Best Regards.

  8. Hello all,

I recently improved my favorite bike (Stucchi X-over, specific exhaust from SP 1000 model)

and obviously, there is some job to do to tune it well.

When I have a look at the Power Commander website, I just can read : US MODELS ONLY

So is there any guy in Europe who dared to play with fire ?

Is it just a commercial warning or is there a real technical reason ?

I also looked at the french distributor website but as I expected, Moto Guzzi doesn't exist for

    them.

    Every advice is welcome.

    Thanks in advance

    Pierre

  9. Hello Jaap,

I'm afraid we are still a bunch of boys : CATIA is a CAD (Computer Aided Design) system

developped by Dassault (yes the airplanes) and widely used in mechanical industry.

But since I know several female catia designers, the question is still open...

    Cheers.

    Pierre

  10. Just one more thing : don't forget to check the central screw on the top of the steering

column (the one that hold the V tubing part). Since there is no locking system or product, it

may get loose sometimes and the main symptom is windshield vibration at idle. :huh

    Cheers

  11. Hello Matthieu,

I have a Magni fairing on my own V11 and I experienced the same noise level

increasement (rockers, gearbox,...). I've ridden my bike for about 500 km with the fairing

and everything is still OK so I don't intend to modify anything.

One important point you have to check is the correct symmetry of the whole outfit. You must

avoid any contact between the fairing and the bottom yoke. It happened on mine and that

created a huge resonance noise at 1800-2000 rpm

    Cheers

  12. Hello,

Once again I'm very late but I can add some words about clip-on bars.

I tried Tomaselli Gold Commander (ref. 144.41) : these bars are fully adjustable

and can provide a much better handling and a much better riding position.

My own was with an angle of 15° between fork and bar. Price in Europe is about 160 euros

(more or less the same in $).

No problem at all but due to personal taste (I was not fully satisfied with the look), I changed them for

not adjustable Robby racing clip-on (10°). That works too but my hands hurt me sometimes on the outer area. Price

in Europe is about 220 euros.

In each case, handle bars were clamped under the top yoke.

You have to know that 10° is the max angle possible with a Magni fairing in case you intend to buy one.

Anyway, whatever clip-on bars you use, you 'll discover a new bike even more thrilling and lovable than the old one.

I wonder why they are not sold with it ... :bike:

    Good luck
