  1. Docc, you know i never took the time to hear whether the pump "whirs" But she cranks and just does not fire up and from recent history, will start up after a good 1/2 hour wait but only for a short time again
  2. Just when I thought things were good, they are not. OK, so some backround, V11, year 2000 with 17000 kms...sympton: starts fine, sputters at 3000 rpm continues to bog down the cant restart after a 10 minute ride. I have installed mistrals and crossover earlier this year, replaced air filter with K&N pods no power commander ever installed as she seemed to run great before hand. First question, I simply put the air temperature sensor in a rubber tube and fastened to the spine, is this OK, never seemed to make a difference before? Could fuel pump relay, last one in rear I believe be fried? I do hear the pump chatter when turn on, for a brief moment. Should I be looking at getting a power commander before anything? I looked through prior topics but found a wide array of responses, so any insight and where to look would be grateful Ciao
  3. Update: right so i replaced the intake rubber boots, repositioned the fuel line from the pump so it pretty much travels along the spine and went for a ride last night....No problems whatsoever...this tells me that all your comments on vapor lock was the issue. I have noticed that one of my buddies V11 has a wrap around that fuel line which tells me that the previous owner of that bike was aware of this issue and did so as a preventive measure. I will as an added measure purchase some heat shield material and wrap that fuel line and possibly the fuel pump under the spine and hope that this will never occur again. Thanks again for all your input
  4. Hey Nose can I see the pictures on the filter/pump relocation? The "downtime" seemed greater than 15mins....hmm As i may have mentioned, I cranked and cranked and all I got was her spitting and coughing at me, (putana) !! So this tells me that the kickstand switch is out, right? It was almost as if only firing on one cylinder, the cylinder on my left (sitting on bike) fuel starvation?....sounds to me could be it. BTW, have not looked at it too much as I'm picking up a tre-colore 1098 in about an hour, yes it's true. Im turning 50 this year and thought , " when the hell am I going to do it, when I'm 60" so it's my gift to me, my mid life crises I suppose but cheaper than a 25 year old.
  5. Thanks for the replies, I'll know better next time. On the subject of relays, what or which is the GEI? and what's it's function and which would be an appropriate alternative? By the way, I ordered new intake boots anyway, avoiding the inevitable one day.
  6. I seem to recall an issue with this problem. V11 year 2000,...out for a great long ride this past saturday very warm maybe 90deg plus, stopped for a while and went to ride off but hard start, stumbled and would not keep an idle. Much backfiring as well. Waited almost 30 minutes and started up again seemed like the problem disappeared, strange. Took off for another 30 minute run, stopped to take a break and then the same, only this time really could not get her started, in fact backfiring was much more prominent and noticed some cracking at the intake boots. Frustrated, I towed her home. OK so i'll order new rubber sleeves for the intakes, but I believe the problem lies somewhere else. I seem to recall a thred where the fuel pump location may be generating too much heat and consequences include vapor lock? Can anyone enlighten me if diagnosed properly and what solution(s) there may be? May there also be a problem with the fuel pump relay? just a thought. Many thanks
  7. Never mind folks, just got off the phone with them in Italy and they are aware of distance issues....made them for people who "hav-a-da- bigga-feeeet" I guess North American sizes out-length our Euro counterparts, must be the chiken wings . Anyhow for those that might be interested in this, they did say that a solution will happen shortly. Real nice fellas over there, a stones throw where my parents came from after the war
  8. can someone help me here, those that have the attached, i cannot seem to get proper ajustability? distance is 7.5" on center and my toe is killing me? what and how can you adjust, tried adjusting the part there but no leverage.

    MGS-01 Serie pics?

Will they really offer the street version here in North America? I had heard that there is a good possibility,...this year? If so I'm ready to order
  10. Just as the title says, those are shots I just took of my front and backyard as of today. Can't see the end of this winter,....just want to hop on my V11 and ride, man you guys in the south got it good. I guess it's why we call it the Great White North up here in Canada.....shiite
  11. OK, so the 2000 v-11 is back on the road and it's simply wonderful. Many thank to Antonio for a wonderful throaty set of Mistrals and x-over, well worth the wait and shipment delivery/price was superb, thanks Antonio. While waiting for the exhausts to arrive I had ordered the rearsets from Rossopuro, beautiful workmanship. I have a slight problem though in that I got this great big BLISTER on my left toe when shifting. No i'm not a wimp but other's with the same setup, don't you find that the knurled shift peg is a bit sharp? And for the fact that the V-11 gearbox is a little klunkier than say a Duc? Will take pics today to show off my bike

    MGS-01 Serie pics?

Man , I also ride a duc superbike and all this recent hype about the new 1098,,,but In a heartbeat I really want and will if and when it's available get this MGS......bellissimo.....simple,pure, best lines I've ever seen except maybe Diane Lane...
  13. Does anyone have a left side mirror mount lying around for sale? Thanks
  14. OK fellas I thought I would update this thread...I found the problem. I had installed the K & N pods on the throttle bodies and thought hey maybe a tighter fit would help if I installed a rubber strip first around the housing to get a more snugger fit. Well upon removing one of the pods to access the gearshift lever, I saw the problem, the rubber strip had been sucked in and kept the butterfly open ....such a bozo...could have avoided this situation. Serves me right for trying to improve upon a good thing.
  15. I just installed the Rossopuro rearsets on my 2000 V11...what pieces of workmanship and art. Easy fit, some filing (gearshift rod bracket) but no issues whatsoever. Delivery in less than a week from my parents hometown in Italy, Pescara to T.O. Good stuff.
  16. Scuzi mia, but this seems as the only active thread in the forum. Ah hem....I need a new(nearly) valve cover for a 200 V11 painted siver with the red Moto Guzzi lettering, (left side sitting on the bike). Can anyone help? Molto grazia
  17. OK, so I haven't had the v11 for 2 weeks and I ended up in the hospital for the past 2 days with a small break in my right hand and a bruise the size of a football on my left leg, here's what happened. At a stop light all is well put in 1st gear and start to accelerate when all of a sudden the throttle shot up and pinned itself and would not return. Wen't down on my left and watched the bike speed up violently down the road maybe 25-50 ft. Got up and ran to the bike and it was reving at full throttle, back wheel spinning out of control, so I used the emergency switch to shut her off. Hit no one , lifted the bike , started it back up and again, was at full throttle so I clutched in and simply moved off to the side and turned it off. The engine guards really did their job and the extent at first glance today shows damaged fairing, small scrape on tank and rear cowl and pushed in left exhaust (ordered new ones so not a problem) It appears that with the thrust of the torque of this bike from the rear, the handlebars may have snapped to the right which would explain my break in my right hand between thumb and forefinger. Out for a few weeks , but can anyone enlighten me on where I should pinpoint the problem(s) Over 35000 kms riding and never had a spill, but there's always a first. Now I am paranoid about the bike.
  18. Thanks Robbie, that is exactly what I was looking for and is it as simple as swapping passenger pegs? If so great I'll be looking into that. " Mi scusi", for posting in this area
  19. New here, just purchased a 2000 V11. Want to replace exhaust and wish to have the cans sweep up while retaining passenger footpegs. Can someone explain what is required as additional extensions etc... Looking at Ferracci's , the low pipes. Many Thanks

    Confession Thread

Ok, Brand new to site and Guzzi's. Just bought a V11/2000 to go with my Duc 749 , I'm happy...but here's my "tool of the day" comment. After finishing all fluid changes on the Guzzi (redline heavy in both gearbox and final drive), went for a ride and my back end completely coated in red fluid (no doubut the redline spewing out of the vent bolt) WTF I said maybe put too much? So I emptied and repeated procedure all over and still same , until I picked up the owners manual and carefully looked at the picture of the rear hub and noticed I put the vent bolt in the center hole ! So there, just have to admit when your a tool. ps. I have learned so much on this site already, hats off.
  21. I say go for it..... I have a 749 /an 06 which I cannot get enough of but I had to get a guzzi, well just because, you know what I mean...bought a 2000 v11 sport, candy apple green , wife wanted me to , hee hee
