  1. OK fellow members... I need to tap into you wonderous fountains of wisdom once again.

What are my options for upgrading my factory exhaust system on my 2002 LeMans?

Althought it only has 4300 miles on it the pipes from the engine to the cans are tarnished and rough looking. I would like to improve this as well as possibly upgrade to Carbon Fiber cans or something more attractive.

What are my options both new and used, and where can new items be purchased at reasonbile prices?

    Thanks...

  2. First: have you cleaned it – made sure that the pistons move freely?

I have not removed nor cleaned anything yet. Heck it's only has 4300 miles on it.

I do plan on investigating further and tinkering with it in the coming days.

  3. I just bought an 2002 with 4200 miles and my rear brake is not flowing freely, thus makes the graoning noise and getting sort of hot.

So all I need to do to correct this is shim the caliper & the mount ?

  4. Nice to have you, Nice avatar.

These are really great bikes if you plan to keep it there are few years. if you change your bikes like your shirt a Jap model might be the right move.

I have the naked I used to think the Lemans was ugly but now I envy their curves. :bier:

    welcome.

Thanks, and I took the avatar shot a couple years back.

SO why do you say the Jap bike is a better move?

  5. how many miles? that does seem really high. I'd get a lemans for 6k and have it painted for 1k :huh2: save myself the 1900 for some Ti(if you can find'em) exhaust and some other tricky bits.

It had like 5400 miles give or take.

So besides color, what's the difference in a Tenni & a Lemans?

  6. I am to make my final decision this week as to whether or not to procure the 02 Lemans.

So tell me oh yea of infinate knowledge... will I be happy with this Italian machine? This will be my first venture outside of the Asian bikes.

  7. Welcome Crooz!

I think the model that came with the red valve covers was the Rosso Mandello. The red side plates, or as we like to call them, "pork chops" weren't specific to any special edition.

Both parts are interchangable with virtually any V11 Sport/LeMans. Some valve covers may be drilled to accommodate a crankcase breather.

Unfortunately the pork chops are painted, not powder coated. Even worse the paint doesn't tolerate UV light too well, so if you park outside, expect to have pink pork chops in the near future. Even worse than that, someone didn't prep the parts well enough or f****d up mixing the paint, and often separates and peels off in large flakes.

Thanks to everyone for the assistance and for sharing your infinite :mg: knowledge!

  8. Hello. New member here.

I have been interested in purchasing a used V11 since spring of this year.

2 weeks ago I found an extremely nice 2002 LeMans for sale. I have done some research this year but have never taken time to join this forum and ask the following questions:

What year models and model types have the red powder coated head covers and the red parts on the sides of the frame near the footpegs? The Lemans that I am currently considering doesn't have either of these red parts, so I would like to know if I can exchange/replace it's current parts with reds one from another V11 model/year.

Thanks in advance for your knowledge.
