I'm powering a Autocom communication system, (IPOD, Phone, Motorola FRS radio... one at a time). I thought about running a wire from the battery with inline fuse. But there already 3 connectors on the battery and it's a pain to get the bolt started. I don't know how that extra fuse could be used for a factory diagnostic device since it isn't connected to anything on the bike at this point.
-
Which is the battery side? Do I jumper one terminal (battery side) to another battery side wire then use the other fuse terminal for my hot wire to my powerlet then run another wire from powerlet to ground? Also... What is this coupler for? It isn't plugged into anything just zip tied to the frame.

Shortly after getting my bike I replaced the brake and clutch lever's with CRG levers. Only because I dropped the bike in a parking lot on the trip back to ohio from picking it up in Florida and broke the brake. To make up for some hassels in picking up the bike from the dealer he offered me the CRG's he had there for free. So apparently when I put them on I dropped the ball that operates the micro switch. I never saw it and only know it's supposed to be there from reading this forum. So now my problem is where can I get the right size ball to put in there? Is there anything else that could replace that little ball?

Newest addition to the family

Sean it has individual disk's on each wheel. The front are mounted on the inside so they don't show. By the way I'm guessing the Va in your name is for Virginia, if so maybe I'll get to meet you at the Buena Vista rally in June. -
Picked it up this morning. I put 35 miles on it. Really fun feels very stable leaning into curves. I think the wife will love it. I'm sorry if the pics are huge I'm only semi computer literate and don't know how to make the thumbnails to click and enlarge. Edit - Scotty, I've moved them into vertical alignment by putting each img on a separate line and a space between also. I prefer to host off site as you've done - saves Jaaps server space, but might mean longer down loads for those on dial-up Martin Barrett

Does anyone know if a 2000 MG Jackal 1100 would use the same oil filter as the V-11 Are they basically the same motor? What if any are the differences?
-
I also just posted this on the UFI filter paranoia thread, but I did my first oil change and whoever did the last change installed a UFI filter. It was not tight at all. I think it was still sealed but absolutely 0.0 torque. So I put on the super-tech (wally-world) filter and a hose clamp. Yes I removed the labels from both. I may switch to a bosch or purolator filter next time.
-
I just did my first oil change on my 03 Lemans. The previous owner or dealer (whom ever did the last oil change), used the UFI filter with no hise clamp. The filter was definately not tight. I think the rubber seal was still in full contact but there was no torque at all. I just gave it a spin and it was loose. Of course I have no idea how it was installed or tightened, all I know is it was a UFI and it was not tight.

Thanks Guys I do like those header from RacerX but too many other uses for the $300 right now. I think I'm going to have a local guy that does real nice welding try to cut those sleeves , nipples whatever you call them off and weld in a patch. The idea being make it look like they were never there. If He doesn't think He can do that then just cut em real short and weld a cap on. Then I think I'll just High Temp paint or possibly powdercoat the pipes black and the stock cans red. By the way since I'm new to MG where would a guy get one of the Stucchi crossovers and how much are they.
-
I remember seeing a post from someone that just took the front crossover pipe off and welded caps on the sleeves. Does anyone know about this?

Well Dean I'm really not trying to simply use the cheapest filter. I'm jsut going by what I've read on this forum. I guess my real motive for the wallyworld filter is availability. If there is another readily available brand at even twice or 3 times the price, that eliminates this decision on clamp or no clamp. Somebody just tell me and I'll buy it. I'm all about keeping things simple and easy , not just cheap. With my other bike (97 Honda Valkyrie Tourer) I happen to work at the factory where that bike was built and Goldwings and VTX's are still built. I just go over to our service center and grab the filter and oil. No decisions no controversy and no problems so far in the 60'000+ miles on that bike.

Thank you Gentlemen. Would it be correct to think that even if the filter does loosen this would only allow a little unfiltered oil to possibly enter the engine, not actually lose any oil?
-
I know this info is probably on the forum somewhere but I havent been able to find it. So I hope you don't mind me asking. I've seen some pics on here of oil filters with a hose clamp around them. Do I really need to do this? Why? Is there a specific spot the clamp should be placed. I have poured over as many of the old post's about oil filters (there's a ton) as my very short attention span will allow. I need to do my first oil change on my LeMans. I bought the walmart filter and I'm hoping to be able to do the change without removing the pan. I know I should be able to reuse the pan gasket, but I don't want to remove the pan withiut at least having a gasket on hand just in case.

I got my first Guzzi (2003 LeMans) a few months ago, I love it of course. The previous owner had installed this raymarine unit that I think was used to connect to a GPS or something. I'm not really sure what it is.photobucket As you can see in the photo there is also a volt meter that had been installed on the left side of the fairing. photobucket... Also wired into this thing was a Fiam horn relay and the Fiam horn is mounted to thr right side fairing bracket. photobucket... There was a wire from the Raymarine box to the horn relay to the Fiam horn then a wire from the Fiam horn to the stock horn. Although the stock horn is the only one I ever heard. Also coming from this box is a cable that looks like it would plug into a display screen.photobucket... There is also a 12V outlet which had been mounted under the left rear fender similar too, but smaller than a cigar lighter type outlet. photobucket There is a power lead going to the + battery terminal and to ground. The worst part of this thing is the guy also wired into the headlight coupler I guess for the light in the volt meter. But He stripped back insulation from the black and yellow wires right at the coupler and spliced into them then just wrapped the mess in electrical tape. I'm not sure how I can fix this. photobucket.. Does anyone know if I can take that coupler apart and reinsert the wires? Here are some other pics. photobucket... photobucket... So does anyone know exactly what this thing is and any reason I should have left it on the bike? Ooops maybe I should have asked that before I took it all off. Actually I wouldn't mind putting the volt meter back on but I'm not sure where I should connect the wires to. I would also like to have that Fiam horn working. Where can I hook into the horn button wire? Thanks

oh good god where to begin, I think fast by ferracci makes a nice (cheaper) crossover, if you do the rear crossover you don't need a front one, the front one was put there to eliminate the need for a new rear one. Well my bike already has the front crossover, I'm just wondering if I would be better off trying to find a system without it. I've seen some post's about problems with gaskets and clamps and rattleing. I'm not particularly looking to get carbon. I like them But I do park outside all day at work, and I hear they fade from the sun. What I like about the Galassetti pipes is the way they mount inside the rear footpeg brackets, sort of under the fender. But I doubt I would spend that much. I don't think I've seen the MG Ti kit yet, I'll try to check it out. I really don't need any more power either but I would like to hear the pipes when I'm riding.

I just bought a 2003 LeMans, went down to Jacksonville Fla. and rode back to Ohio last weekend. Could not have hoped for better weather this time of year, it was a great trip. Now I'm trying to learn about the bike and decide what sort of things I want to do to it. As far as I know the bike is all stock. So far I have experienced the shift return spring problem. (shifter just does'nt pop right back up when downshifting to 3rd). But so far it does come back up within a second or two. I've been reading about various mods. that a lot of you guys seem to be making. I don't know if I have a PCIII or not where is it located and how can I tell if it's a stock ECU or PCIII?. There seems to be some difference of opinion on the front crossover pipe. Is it good or bad? In FAQ, I found a link to Galassetti exhaust, http://www.galassetti.it/foto/guzzi/index.php I really like those but can anyone tell me about them. Can we even get them here in the states? How much are they? Are they just slip on's? I also like the red (I think they're called "pork chops") footpeg bracket's and valve covers. Where can I get those? Any help and or advice is much appreciated... Thanks

Thanks again, good ideas on checking the bike out and the seat pad. I will do those things. Tracey I will want to make some of those gatherings. I went to the rally in New Cumberland WV a few times with Greg (my Brother). Unfortunately I know that rally probably won't be happening any more. I am really looking forward to making this trip and to next year riding my new Moto Guzzi. Scott

Hey Everyone Well I've bought my first Guzzi. I've been riding for 25 years or so. Starting with Yamaha's and then several Honda's (I work for Honda so the discount thing ya know) the last 9 years on a Valkyrie. But I just bought a 2003 LeMans. My Brother has been riding Guzzi's for several years and always trying to get me to buy one. Unfortunately My Brother was murdered Jan. 3rd 06. So when I started getting the urge to get something a little more sporty for a second bike I knew I wanted to make it a Guzzi. I sure hope He somehow knows it. So I'm in central Ohio and the bike is in Jacksonville Fl. I'm flying down there on Thanksgiving day 11/23/06 and riding back to Ohio. Hopefully no snow on the way. Any advice about the bike will be greatly appreciated. The bike is supposed to be well kept and all stock. Should I check out anything in particular about the Lemans. I'll check normal stuff like tires, oil, nut's & bolts Thanks Scott
