  1. I placed an order for some of this 3M paint protection film at this site... http://www.xpel.com/products/default.asp I bought four feet of the 12" width product. I believe this is the same product sold by http://www.thetankslapper.com/ I am going to cut some templates to add a little protection the the Lemans' fairing and a piece to place under the rack for protection. chris in omaha
  2. Hi Jason, Yes, the two rear mounting pontns do rest on the rear bodywork. They have little rubber suction cup like fittings on them. I added one washer under each of the mounting points under the seat to raise the rack ever so slightly, so the suction cups rest lightly on the surface of the bodywork when the rack is unloaded. chris in omaha
  3. One final shot of the bike with the Tekno bags, Motomecca rack, Laminar Lip and though you can't see it, the www.tankslapper.biz vinyl protective tank cutouts installed......ready for touring!!! Thanks to everyone for all the tips/suggestions/advice. What a GREAT website! chris in omaha
  4. One more pic of the Motomecca rack installation points.....
  5. Hello all, I received the luggage rack from Motomecca and installed it on my '02 Lemans. VERY simple bolt-on to the two bolts located under the seat. It fits very well. The only minor issue is that one side of the rear seat plastic cowl slightly rubs on the rack bracket. Just barely...not enough to concern me. Anyway, it's a well made rack. I can bungee both my tent and sleeping bag to it so it does exactly what I need it to do Attached in a pic of the installed rack. chris in omaha
  6. Correct...i did not order the Stucchi rack. I opted for something a little less expensive I will let everyone know how it fits, etc. after i receive it and get it installed. Thanks very much to all for the great responses!! chris in omaha
  7. Hi, Well, I ended up ordering the rack on this site: http://www.motomeccaspares.com/illustrated...accessories.php Will let you know if it fits. Chris in omaha
  8. Hello, I was just wondering if anyone was using the Stucchi luggage rack(removable or non-removable) along with the Tekno bags/brackets. Just wondering if there are any installation issues with having both installed. I have the Tekno brackets/bags but want a rack on my '02 Lemans for some storage space. Thankls for any assistance you can offer, chris in omaha
  9. Thanks Russ!!!! I pick up the 2002 Lemans Monday evening! New with full 2 year warranty! I can't wait.....is there a good thread to read on the board re: potential problem spots of which to be wary? chris in omaha
  10. Please pardon my ignorance on the topic, but are the brakes on the V11 Sport series linked, like on the EV? Thanks, chris in omaha

    BREAK IN

Thanks a lot for all the replys guys! I just found out I am not closing on the deal until Monday evening, so I will get to give my '03 Stone Metal one final ride this weekend before I trade her in. At ~14,000 miles, I know she's well beyond the break-in period. Once again, thank you and I look forward to being a regular reader and occasional contributor! chris in omaha

    BREAK IN

Hello, New to the forum and on the verge of purchasing an '02 Lemans. Should I be concerned about making it's maiden voyage an ~600 mile round trip, mostly on state highways at speeds of 60-70 mph? Chris in Omaha
