  1. Repost... I spoke to soon on my last post. My test drive was too short, and the 1 or 2 miss shifts I encountered I blamed on myself. After several rides I noticed not too much had changed. So I decided to play with the mysterious eccentric screw!!!After clunking around with the adjustment, up to appx. 40 deg. on either side of where it was set. [ Moving the screw about 10 to 15 deg.a wack.] I found a spot where it was getting close to right. After that point the final dialing in drops down to a degree or two of adjustment at a time. You will feel the shifting become "tight" in regards to the up and down throw, and the "beast" will slip into gear smoothly. All my gutz have always had a long throw gear, on this it seems to be 4th. And this is where I had to play in the very fine adjustment range to get it right. I hope this will help anyone with rough shifting with the eccentric screw to get it smooth. Thanks Guzzists
  2. Docc, I want to thank you for your speedy reply to my situation. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get out to the shop to check out the victim of my mechanics for a week. My hats off to you sir.Upon examination I did find a little slop in the linkage, I also noticed that I'd installed the linkage onto the shifter shaft one tooth off the mark on the shaft. Corrected all and she's back to smooth as silk clutchless shifting. Thanks again. Qman
  3. Just replaced my second pawl arm spring. Was supposed to be a new and improved one. Got about 10K from it. Now I'm having problems with the downshifting. It seems a little "hard" and sometimes when I go down to 4th it will at first seem to miss 4th and then with a great grinding noise and tire squeal will drop into gear. Does anyone know if this might have anything to do with the eccentric stop screw adjustment. I don't know how, but I may have unknowingly moved it during surgery. What is the procedure for the adjustment of this eccentric stop screw? I can't find anything about it anywhere. Thanks Guzzists
  4. I understand carbon fiber doesn't do well with UV rays. Somewhere in the mass of infomation I've digested (indigested?) on this site I thought I'd read a thread on a product that will protect carbon fiber, but was unable to find it.Anyone able to help? Thanks
  5. gentlemen mger's, you've all been correct all along. dots, dots, dots.it's all so beautifully simple.i'm the idiot, the short sited long seeing fool. humbled again by the learning curve. the selctor gears were misaligned due to being a self appointed genius. i shall say no more. i'm airborne again and can't be happier. i think i was having spontainious hallucinations stareing in the box while spinning the wheel. it was kinda fun, but i'm glad it's over. i really have to thank you all who took time to help. i owe you at least a meal, so if you happen to cruisin' thru... as a matter of fact, anyone with a v twin thats not overly loud and alinged in a forward rear fashion can drop in for a feed. [i feed enough of those other guys] p.s. those of you whom unfotunately may have the chance to decide whether or not to perform this operation, it is not high on the scale of difficulty. just pay attention to the available information a little better than i did! happy trails, qman
  6. as best i could get my head and a flashlite in that box i couldn't find a pin in neutral. i can see neutral and each gear according to its size on the mainshaft. heres what happens, from neutral while turning the rear wheel. one click down, wheel stops. first, right? half click up, n, wheel spins. half click up second but the wheel spins, pull up again and the shift stops between 2 & 3. the shifter works like a clock off the bike. i'm baffled, i've adjusted nothing. i'm going to look and scratch again. anymore suggestions please. thanks to all qman
  7. the spring broke in first gear, so thats the gear it was in for the surgery.set the pins to where they looked correct, popped on the cover and it wasn't right. i've had the cover on and off so many times now trying to statisticly eliminate each shifter postion and it just hasn't worked. [so much for that line of thought] i was sort of hoping for a way to asess the position of the tranny and maybe go from there, because it seems the cover will fit when its not aligned correctly. i'm jonesing for a ride and there she sits, a reminder of my foolishness. i hate myself, my twinstar just won't cut it for a real ride. HELP! qman
  8. I had no problem with the pawl spring. Icouldn't wait 5 weeks for the warrenty work. Ihad to wipe the bottom of the tranny... opps, bumped those damn little pins that move it all around. After several days of using windows of opportunity, I've reached the conclusion I'm #!!**^ed. Anyone who can help me figure this out will be on my list of greatest figures in history!!! Just can't seem to match things up. HELP!!! qman
  9. thanks greg, the downlaods look great but i ran into a small problem on the audio. it sounds like i'm at the united nations. several languages all going at the same time. anything i can do on my end to correct it? qman
  10. [ Thank you Heliojim for the most attractive of replies. And to Mr. Baldini, (are you a famous magician?) Sorry, bad humor. I agree with your description of the T3's carcteristics. I rode one (78) way back when I was young(er?) and had much bigger Kahoonies thanI do now. Boy did I shred on that thing! My first Guzzi, the girls, what memories. I should write a book. I'm envious that your still enjoying yours! Are you still getting girls? And in response to Jon (just to make these blogs stranger) I know of two 78's in a barn!!! A T3 and a T3FB. One with appx. 169k, and one with appx. 6k, both rough. My secret! Again, it's back to the saying about time and money. What's a guy to do? Happy Spring to All
  11. Hey 2-D air pilots, I watch E BAY and classifieds for Guzzi's alot. It satisfies some primodial urge of some sort, even though I won't, I cant aquire them. I mean..,if I made the money..,and if I had the space..,and if I had the time.., why they'd all be mine!!! As we all know sometimes reality sucks. (As does gravity and G's) Any-who, where the heck are all the T-3s? Never see 'em. Are they all gone? Do they, have they, all gone to T-3 Heaven? I realize this is aV-11 forum, but I thought that someone out there might know out of all the many Guzzi,s I see for sale, (some very rare and old) I don't see T-3,s for sale. Are all the owner,s holding on to them? Are they maybe the "best Guzzi made"? What the heck is going on? But really, I never see 'em for sale. Any answers? qman
  12. Hey Guzzists, Does any one know what gives with Moto Guzzi and their top secret paints? Last summer I had what I refer to as the "great lawn incident." A 10 mph wet lawn go down. My poor Coppa!!! Since then I've spent nearly one grand replacing scratched and broken parts to make her pretty again. The problem is I have a nickel sized chip in the red on one side of the tank. I delt with my dealer for several months to no avail. I then contacted Piaggio Group N.A. Useless! So I contacted Guzzi in Italy and after many calls eventually gave up due to the phone bill and the language barrier. My dealer can,t even get me the name of the red so I can try to match it up thru some of the paint links available thru this site. 1st) Does anyone happen to know the name or formula of the Coppa red? 2nd) Would anyone like to dress in a black hood and clothing and slip into Moto Guzzi at night to abduct their paint codes? I,ll pay for the clothes. 3rd) Anyone interested in starting a email, snail mail, phone campain to see if we, en mass can get this silly policy of paint codes being an italian national secret changed? Perhaps if enough of us (faithfull customers and Guzzi heads) become annoying enough, they will change this policy. Whaddaya think? Should we nibble at the hand that feeds us? Oh yeh,.... we feed them don,t we. More Than Slightly Annoyed and Disappointed, Qman da hue man
  13. Is anyone familier with the galasetti exausts? I was thinking of putting a pair on my Coppa because I like the look. These would be installed with a Succi x-over. I'm still weighing intake mods and am open to suggestion. //www.galasetti.it/index.pht p.s. Has anyone even heard a pair? qman
