    V7 Racer

Men's Health Mag has the V7 Racer as the #6 "Best Products for Men" in the Dec Issue.... and out of the 100, the only one to get a full page spread....
  3. Just to follow-up on this problem, the problem was indeed the power commander. After removing and reinstalling the power cammander serveral times and watching the problem come and go with the PC, thereis no doubt the PC was causing the problem. thanks
  4. I did check the insulation, it was mostly hanging on, but the side portion not directly over the airbox was hanging down and ragged. I trimmed that off and reglued the center part that was a little loose. It ran well on the way to work, but no real "hot rod" attacks yet, so we'll see. That's eliminated at the least. thanks
  5. I do have the open air box, (sounds so cool), and the heat shield material is in bad shape, I will check that out..... and the way it was acting, I am very optimistic that is the problem... thanks
  6. Thanks all, I went to Advanced Auto Parts and picked up the Purolator filter number mentioned earlier f43178.... It was a good fit, although about half as long. The problem I have been having, where the motor shuts down during hard acceleration, like what happens when hitting the rev limiter, has mostly been eliminated. It seems better anyway, but I am still having the problem intermit. At least now I know it is not the fuel filter....
  7. Thanks, but looking for an alternative, ie, one I can get from advanced auto pats for 10$....There was some postings on here but for an Vll sport.....thanks
  8. Does anyone have part numbers for recommended fuel filter alternative for 2002 Lemans? thanks
  9. Thanks, I will try some suggestions this weekend, see what happens.....
  10. I don't know for sure it is the Rev Limiter, but it does act exactly like it does where it usually kicks in. It is very random and after letting off the throttle it seems fine and will even rev past that point a few seconds later. I doubt my filter has ever been changed, with the bike having 19k on it.
  11. My 2002 Lemans has been intermit. hitting the rev limiter at around 5500 RPM. It will work fine then sometimes when I really get on it, it kicks in way too early. I have a power cammander, but other than exhaust it is completely stock. Wonder if anyone else has experienced this and if there are any suggestions.... thanks
  12. [Hey Frank, Yea, that's me Jaxlemans on the "other site". Sounds good. Let me know when it cools down enough, we'll take a ride up there. Thanks for the input on the crossover, I have it in the weldshop right now getting some reinforcement, hopefully that and carefull installation will prevent future cracks.
  13. Thanks, I had read the "Tale of 3 Crossovers", but hadn't seen the second one. I was having a piece welded in simular to the one shown, I think I will go ahead and have the bracket made up for mine as well, hopefully that will prevent future cracking.
  14. Well, can't say I wasn't warned........purchased FBF crossover in January, after about 2000 miles it cracked all to hell. I had talked to FBF about the potential problem before purchasing and they said that it was not a common problem, but would warranty it if it did. I sent it back and they sent me a new one no questions asked. I have the new one at a weld shop right now getting it reinforced. Anyone have simular experience and was able to overcome it? (There goes my warranty)
  15. Okay, not particularly noteworthy since he was two up. I do have to add that the week before he had a much heavier girl with him, at least he didn't bring her....... What is noteworthy, is that he was so confident that he showed up riding two up, I, on the other hand, fue ed up with less than two gals, left the tank bag at home and wore my lucky underwear. Some quick calculations with my known , rider total weight/hp and his estimated vehicle, rider total weight and claimed 112hp, tells me he still had a slight advantage with my weight to HP ratio being 7.4-1 and his being 7.2-1. (Obvious testimony to my riding skills) He was a little overconfident to say the least. Probably won't be next time.
  16. Just and Update......V-Rod guy did not show up at bike night Fri. I rode up on my HD SX250, just to fit in. (It was 40% chance of rain, that's too big a chance when you have to spend 4 hrs. cleaning and poilishing)
  17. My Favorite Harley was the one my Dad built for me when I was in the 4th grade in 1969. It was a 50CC Aeremacchi Harley basketcase rebuild. He completed mine a year after my older brothers, his was a 65cc. Three speed, shifter on the clutch........it took me forever to get used to a foot shift after that. These things were really cool, other neighborhood kids were sporting shideshaft Brigs motors. We had I-talian Harley's, we were the envy! Here is a pic of me and my brother, I am on the right.
  18. Tomorrow night I will probably see V-ROD guy at the watering hole, he will probably have a little different attitude, besides a loss is a loss right? Anyway, the only thing I learned from this is...............IF I SEE A FAT GUY ON A V-ROD, HE IS TOAST!
  19. These beasts are linked on the Guzzitech site, I am thinking if I had one of these..........V-Rods would be slayed! http://www.bigbore.it/index.html
  20. I know the feeling, I was trying to pass a couple of G- Wings on US1 not long ago and two Harley riders were in the left lane and just stayed behind the Wings enough to make it a risky move for me to go around. Finally after several miles of this I got by, this time the Harley riders were in a TAHOE, (they had Harley stickers on back)! I am anxious to see how my V-Rod friend spins the tale of the Lemans, something tells me he will be at the Harley dealership ording "stage 3".
  21. A sterotypical Harley Rider has been mouthing off at the local bike night in Jacksonville. I had made the comment one night that I would like to see what the Lemans could do against his V-rod. He just laughed and said he didn't want to embarrase me.........This went on for a couple of months, "I can smoke you with my girlfriend on the back".......I"I have had alot of work done on this".......etc, etc. It was all in fun of course. Finally he asked me to ride down to Daytona over the weekend to make the monthy pilgrimage to "Harley Heaven", (I think it keeps their warranty valid or something) So the guy shows up 15 minutes late with his girlfriend on the back, I'm not kidding. I was dissapointed to say the least, thinking I wouldn't get to test him.....but halfway down to St. Augustine, he pulls up next to me and invites me for a little run. I am not one to back off, so I signaled him to go and we went for it. I immediately passed him and kept the lead up until about 120 mph, when we both shut down. Okay, so he was riding two up.........their combined weight was more like one normal size Harley Rider.........Regardless, he didn't have much to say after that. He didn't even offer to run me by himself........ Is this noteworthy? Has anybody run a V-Rod successfully?
  22. Greetings all, I am riding from Jax to Daytona on the 1st Monday early A.M. to see the races and go to Pahtheon , (80 miles). The coast is a decent ride. Anyway, I would be cool to ride down with some other Guzzi riders for a change. I live right off I95, VERY easy to find. If interest, we can work out the details for a meet, probably stop for breakfast half way. .
  23. Well I tried to upload it but it's 2.44k
  24. This is the before and after dyno for my O2 Lemans. My modificatons include, 1. FBF Open air box 2. FBF carbon slip ons 3. Power commander III FBF crossover and 11.1 pistons to install soon
  25. I am going to really try to make it. I will be riding from Jacksonville fl, and will most likely be riding my Titanium. Too far for the Lemans i am afraid..... I did a cross country two summers ago to San Fran and back but didn't make it to S Cal, so should be interesting. I have a BMW frind from Half Moon Bay who will most likely meet me there. BMW's Ok?
