  1. Well hello everyone. The name is Tod, I`ve had various bikes (and never been without one) since I was 15, that was some 37 years ago. so do the sums yourself, I`m getting too old to remember my age. Fairly competent with a spanner as I done an apprenticeship with a Morris/BMC dealer, (remember them?) but not with electronic thingamybobs. (why oh why did they ever get rid of whitworth). I enjoy a good ride out, particularly to the coupes moto legende in dijon, france. Single malts, sitting by the campfire, and talking boll*x. Which is a very very good reason to go for a ride out in the first place. Lots of other interests but won`t bore the nuts off you with it here, keep that for the single malt and the campfire. ;)

Welcome to the forum Tod, single malt and a campfire sounds like you've got your priorities right mate!

  2. Hey - I've been lurking around here for a bit, so I figure it's time to come outa the shadows. I'm currently riding a '78 Ducati 900 GTS that I'm selling to pick up a late model V11 Le Mans. In my short time here I've been impressed with this place - damn glad to meet ya! Bugs.

Welcome Bugs, let's see a pic when you can of the le mans

  3. Measuring the outside, I get ~3 cm dia and 2.5 cm height.

    where π = pi,

    π x r^2 x (height of cylinder) = volume :nerd:

    π x (~1.5 cm)^2 x 2.5 cm = ~17.7 cc

Dropping out an estimate for the volume of the thickness of the reservoir, it would likely be ~15 cc, or 1.5 cl to the MAX line.

One o' you math whizzes kindly check this, please.

    Apologies.......RATCHETHACK.....

  5. My 2001 V11 was parked up yesterday for a couple of hours and some gob*hite helped themselves to the cap from the top of the clutch fluid reservoir. Are these caps a pretty universal size across bikes fitted with hydraulic clutches or do sizes vary? I know I can send off for the Guzzi part but I need to keep my bike on the road in the meantime. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Forgot to ask if anyone knows the outside diameter of the original cap I would be grateful.

  7. Looks great John, but what are those horns???????

My best to your "D" too.

    Dennis

Thanks Dennis and best wishes for the new year ahead. The horns are known as Hootaz and are made by an aftermarket firm called Motrax, not sure if they are available in your neck of the woods but they do give out a healthy dose of decibels! I think they are a copy of the Fiamm horns made in a similar style. John.

  8. Nice.......very different!

clean looking to, are those fiam horns and if so how are they wired in?

    :bier:

    Cheers

    Van

Hi Van,no they are not Fiams. They are an aftermarket pair of Hootaz made by Motrax. They are a straight swap for the original horns and according to the instructions that came with them they need no modifications to the existing power supply. Thanks,John.

  9. Hi Gary,in the end I carefully cut a new slot across the head of the bolt and was then able to use a much bigger screwdriver with more leverage. After a bit of a struggle it came out.I've now used stainless steel bolts with a hex head on and applied some copper grease.

So how did you get the siezed bolt out, i have the same problem but just gave up.

  10. Hi,finish on rocker covers is starting to bubble and lift, the alternator cover is in a much worse condition.I want to get all three items cleaned back to bare metal and then a new finish applied. I once had the rocker covers off an old BMW blasted and then stove enameled and was really pleased with the result. Are the three items off my V11 made of suitable materials to have this process carried out? If not then what would be the best cleaning and finishing techniques to get done? Thanks in advance.

  11. Just done a search on the internet and the fender extender part No. is for a Triumph Legend and Adventurer. This came from a UK 2006 Triumph catologue.

Just ordered one from Jack Lilley's for £20:79 including postage, well worth it to keep the muck off. Many thanks to JamesGuzzi.

  12. Hi, in response to your question about fender extender, I fitted a Triumph accessories fender extender part No. A9701040 to my 2002 v11 sport naked which has good length and flows in with the lines of the front mudguard. It is almost a perfect fit, requires no modification and looks made for purpose when fitted. See attached pic. Should be available from any Triumph dealer. Can't remember what model it was for but just use part number above. Cheers. jamesguzzi

That's brilliant James, looks perfect. Thanks a lot for taking the trouble to post a picture and part number. Cheers,John.
