  1. Thanks, I found some thermal paste at a computer store. WARNING!!! I tried to remove the plastic adapter first but it felt weird, like it was going to snap off if I added any more pressure so I ceased that and just removed the temperature sending unit, covered it in thermal paste and back in she went. I did not remove the tank, just removed the bolt and propped it in place. Now we find out if there is any improvement....
  2. Shoot, this thread has me wondering now...I'm getting 35 mpg with a power commander. My temp sending unit is brass, screwed into a black plastic adapter. Should I change out this adapter? John
  3. Wow, problem solved! That was an easy one, thank you all for helping, bike started like a charm all day after I followed the advice. Kudos. John
  4. Thanks guys, I appreciate your help. Will report back with results. John
  5. Hey all, Lately my Ballabio won't start until i jiggle the handlebars. Has anyone had this issue and if so, what did you find was the problem? Thanks, John
  6. Teknic Bags and Brackets, in good condition, purchased on ebay never mounted. Questions to jjshields01@snet.net Was asking $225, now $125 plus shipping. John
  7. Try this site for mirror extenders, something here is bound to work. John http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productlist/223/
  8. I just bought the bags connection "city" as it will fit my V11 and my BMW R1100RT, the engage sport was too wide for the bmw but fit the Guzzi very well and would hold more stuff. John
  9. I'm selling an excellent condition Moto Guzzi Tank Bag that fits the V11 as well as the 750 Breva. It was purchased new from a dealer and only used once. Asking $125
  10. I've decided to go with some nice Givi thow over saddlebags so i'm selling my Teknic bags and racks. The bags are in good condition, with a very small amount of scuffing and they came with the racks for earlier V11's. You would need to do some fiddling to get the racks to work and they don't come with any hardware. I priced a set new, from Australia, at about $625 US shipped. Will take $225 for the setup. 12. Thanks for the help everyone, I appreciate it. I don't really care about the controversy over high flow reusable air filters, I like 'em for the reason they are reuseable and can be cleaned and put back into service. This also avoids my tendency to order parts at the last minute and or skip the replacment of the stock airfilter. Plus it's a one shot expense and I'm a fan of that economy. John
  13. I wish to buy a K & N air filter (not pods) for my '04 Ballabio but can't seem to locate a part number anywhere, including here. Any idea? Thanks, John
  14. I've been working on a solution for my '04 Ballabio; so far I've purchased a used Teknic (quick removable reinforced cordura bags) setup that doesn't fit and a Stucchi rear rack that doesn't work with the Teknic setup! However, with a little cutting and welding I believe everything will come together eventually. Meanwhile I'm considering some simple waterproof throw-over saddlebags like the Ortliebs. That approach leaves the bike clean when you just want that nice elemental look. One other idea I had was to buy a set of the small 21 litre givi bags. However you would have to make your own brackets and the bags are a bit tall for the V11 application and might interfere with a passenger, but I believe they would be the best solution overall, what with their locking capabilities, good looks (color matching lids) and relatively low cost. John
  15. Ok, thanks everyone....what I'm hearing is I should try and insert something into the connection at the tps, into the white violet and violet wires, and get the readings there. 150mv with fully closed butterflies, key on, bike not running. Right? What is more important, 150mv key on, bike off or 485mv, bike at stable idle? Thanks again, John
  16. Hi all, I've read much of the TPS thread and still have a question as well as a comment from a Guzzi mechanic. My questions are these, 1)where and how do you pick up the millivolt readings? 2)Is there a picture anywhere? 3) I have a fluke meter with only one voltage setting, will that be accurate enough? Secondly, the mechanic states that under no conditions should I attempt to adjust the TPS on an '04 V11, he claims that it is very very difficult to bring it back to factory specs if I mess it up. Thanks guys (and ladies!)
  17. Hello there, Welcome to the forum, it's been a great help to me in addressing the issues with my '04 Ballabio. The best advice I've recieved, and I had the same issues you report, is to change out the relays. I know, I know...it seems kinda of a weird solution, but it cured my bike immediately. The relays can act up intermittently and cause the sort of problems you are experiencing. In addition to the relays I've replaced the kill switch, which began to act up. Here's a post I received: Yo Dude RELAYS Don't dink around. Replace all the relays. I sent you a link from the www.Guzzitech.com site Search for relays on the main page. This is a known issue. Hope to see you on the road soon European Motorcycle rally at Lars Andersen Museum Oct 6th Tom So, good luck, never give up!
  18. The brackets that came with my used bags had no spacers or hardware at all. Not to mention the bracket is way off as well, perhaps for an earlier version. But I will attempt modifying the bracket and post how it turns out. First I have to learn how to weld and borrow a welder! John
  19. Bought the bags, they are used but in good condition. Having some trouble mounting the brackets however, there may be a spacer or two missing from the package. I will probably modify the brackets to fit right. Otherwise the bags are pretty nice, but a lot smaller than they look in the picture, tho smaller may be better on the v11 what with the muffler so high. John
  20. Hi Steffen, I'm looking for a set of Tekno Bags myself, but I'm not getting any return emails from my inquiries. Any ideas? Do you have any links or email addresses? Thanks John
  21. I'm considering the purchase of a Dynojet Power Commander for my '04 Ballabio with M4 cans and a K&N filter. The bike runs pretty good with the M4's though it seems driveability could be better at lower throttle openings. In addition, I would like to improve the fuel mileage numbers from 36-38 mpg to the mid forties if possible. The bike does seem to be running a little rich, if I go by the light black soot in the pipes. So..... 1) Which power commander? The ones I've found are listed for '01 to '02 bikes. 2) Should I have the bike dynoed? The guy who dynoed my '01 Vstrom did a poor job...I was able to better his efforts using the adjustment buttons not to mention it was pretty expensive. Thanks all! John in Connecticut
  22. Hi Vlad, nice doing business with you. The M4's came today and I put them on this evening in about 10 minutes. They do sound very throaty and muscular and the bike is running fine with no backfire on decelaration. I'm very happy with them, thanks. Love your Ballabio, particularly the red pillion cover, that looks great. Anyway, cya all on the road. John
  23. Hi Jerry, Had the same issue on my new Ballabio, the mechanic found a loose connection at the starter. I would also change all the relays, not switch them around as the starter relay has 5 pins and the others are 4 pin. Do a search for relays and you'll find lots of info. Other things to suspect are battery, starter switch and sidestand cutoff switch. Good luck, John
  24. Just an update on the Ballabio; picked up the bike from Wagner's last Wednesday, put on about 350 miles so far, no new problems, bike starting everytime. Wagner's found a loose wire at the starter. Replaced all relays with Dan's GEI replacments. Entered the bike for fun at the Larz Anderson European Fall Motorcycle Classic and met two other Ballabio owners. Great show. Still to go; left front fork complete, ordered by Wagners. New tach also on order. Found reversed tipover valve, reinstalled correctly in upright position, still building a vacuum in the tank. Wonder if it's ok to just remove tipover valve. Anyone removed the gas recirculating system yet (the canister in front of the rear wheel)? Thanks everyone for all your encouragement! John
  25. Hey there, I bought a Breva 750 bag which fits pretty darn good on my 04 Ballabio. John
