  1. Thanks! Before the rebuild the bike already produced 91 bhp instead of the standard 79. And that was only with K&N's and Mistral mufflers. I can't guess how much it is now as I haven't been on the bike for 1,5 years.

Later this year I will probably take it to HdeB to have it dynoed and remapped properly.

Hope to see you on the Italday in Tiel, August 22nd. That's when she makes her "debut"

A dyno run on Henk's dyno is excellent ,so we can compare a bit because mine was done there too.

If im in Holland at the time of the Italday i will go there for sure..weather permitting off course.

But looking at my schedule now i dont think i can make it. <_>

  2. Chuck if you have a Google search engine available input this

    "rebuild ohlins damper"

I have steepened the head angle by 2 degrees on a similar chassis and im riding hard without a steering damper...

Dont repair it..just take it off

    It doesnt need it

  3. .

Nice but the angle of the exhausts is horrible... horrendous.. :vomit:

Please let somebody tell the owner to cut the pipes and shift them up and inward ...allot.

Because the lines of the bike are totally ruined because of it..

  4. Thanx for the info!! Mine will be the poor mans version and i would be happy with 125 hp :D

@Pete...you will have more knowlidge than i...i just found these pistons and have to see if they are forged...i doubt it but will look for it!@

The 125hp version wil already make you a poor man..

Im not sure but i think it wil be something in the region of 8000$

    Camshafts

    Bigger valves

    headwork (porting ect)

    Connecting rods

    Bigbore cillinders

    forged pistons

    balancing

    Oilpump modification

    Powercommander or equivilant

    Exhaust system?

manual labour inc usage of the workshop equipment (mill, lathe ect)

    ect ect

It could even be more than 8000$

Its personal, but for me its not worth it.......i rather spend it on the chassis, wheels, forks, brakes, shock ect

  5. Correct, the mapping is the difference. C kit cams might not be available, but mgs01 cams are. And cheaper then the c kit ones. I just ordered a set to see if they deliver them.

    Interesting stuff..

Paul do you have the timing diagram of the MGS cam compared to the A cam? (i think my 93 daytona engine has the A as stock)

The bike runs out of puff above 8000rpm,and has plentyfull below so trade some bottom power for top end would be no problem.

  6. Thanks,

Im in south america now enjoying the sunshine. :sun:

The bike is stored on a heated floor in my house... because blank aluminium and moisture dont go well together.. :(

When im back in europe we wil start on the subframe and swingarm.. all the material i allready have so its only a matter of designing and building the d#mn things...

  7. Its a swallower guzzi, search the net and you will find that they build some amazing guzzis for BOTT racing here in europe.

2 brothers from Holland made them and i was talking to one of the brothers a few weeks ago on a cafe racer meeting in Holland, while looking at my Daytona.

He is the one building the unfinshed bike in the pics,it felt rather good that he was intersted in my bike and how we made and modified it with performance and handling in mind not just the looks.

  8. Barring a significant mechanical problem or breach of the intake tract downstream of the air filter, there's only one way dirt can enter a motor from outside.

    That's through the air filter.

If you have a substandard air filter and run on 100% clean paved roads in 100% clean ambient air (washed clean by rain and/or nearby ocean breezes, perhaps?), no dirt exists, therefore no dirt can get in, and no prob.

If you have a substandard air filter and run on rough dirt roads in high particulate content ambient air, a buildup of dirt will accumulate inside the motor -- both in the oil filter, and/or the in the sump, and/or in other places, potentially taking a toll on precision parts.

    Hope this helps.

Hmm fair enough...but i think that sludge is built up from carbon deposits wich are blown past the piston rings..

I can only imagine that BMW engines have better tollerances than guzzis and therefore less blowby..

Its intersting stuff because Saab turbo engines have similar problems with sludge building up in the sump, and with these engines the problem is the crank case vent system.

  9. Seems to me it's usually dependent on a combo of:

    1. efficiency of the air filter (lots of sub-standard air filters out there, very well documented) <_>

    2. road/air quality

    3. both ambient and operating temps and temp ranges

    (roughly in that order)

Better it accumulates in the sump than anywhere else.

    But o' course, that's just me. ^_^

Well you lost me on number 1 and 2 :huh2: i dont see how an airfilter and road quality can have a effect on sludge in the sump..

  10. Great pic with the Kneedown.

Ok, so I understand all of this, for the 730mm forks to work within the the V11 setup, the steering head angle needs to change (1 degree steeper)...... Correct?? Also the yoke offset should be brought down to 35mm from the original 40mm....... Correct??

And lastly the Swing arm should lengthened 30mm or 40mm forward and 20mm to the rear...... is that correct?

Seems simple enough, good winter project.

    Cheers

I changed my steering angle 2 degrees..cut it off..make a new bigger one(diameter needs to be bigger for modern forks/tripple tree) and weld it on....

All modern forks already have 30/35mm offset so no problem there.. i still have the ohlins laying around so let me know if ur interested.

Swingarm is still the same,i dont feel the need to make it longer..i will make a aluminium one but thats only for the looks department.

Long swingarms are usefull on 180+horsepower.... superbikes not on 100 horse guzzis, but thats my personal opinion.

  11. Thanks mille108.

This makes finding suitable replacement forks a little difficult. What options available to get around this issue?? I noticed on your project you used forks from a MV. I don't imagine the are the 770mm length.

To start with i used Aprilia RSV 2004 showa forks 730mm then Aprilia RSV 2005 Ohlins forks 730mm..now MV forks also 730mm..no problem.

I dont even use a steering damper,it doesnt need it.

And i ride it hard, kneedowns allover the place..look at my signature pic...on pic says more than a thousand words ^_^

Its not the guzzi but you know what i mean..

  12. Every technical discussion on this board(i dont even dare to look in any other topics on this board) turns out into some everlasting blah blah...

Yes a guzzi is heavy, yes its slow, yes standard it handles like crap,no you cant turn it into a superbike,....but you can improve it alot, will set you back some $$ for sure but if u want..if you can..why not.

If i wanted to go from A to B cheap..i would have bought a Prius.

I wish everybody the best..im out of here.

  13. but in the end they nailed you!

Yes after many many moons, they cought me..it was a big event for the local police.

Unmarked Police car..... 170km in a 80km zone... big fine.. almost lost my licence for a long long time..

So nowdays im looking more in my mirror than on the road...

  14. Cut and welded on a new headstock(bigger diameter) 2 degrees steeper, because modern forks have a thicker tripple tree pin.

wheelbase is now 1440..stock was 1480

MV Agusta 50mm Marzocchi front end has 30mm offset yokes,

Huge differnce in handling, tips in much faster and doesnt run wide anymore comming out of the corners.
