  1. Bang Bang baby! My penance on the vespa is over and the bike has arrived.

Let me ramble a wee bit about this whole thing a little *its nice to humor the elderly*.

    1) I bought this bike sight unseen!

    2) I have never ridden a guzzi before!

    3) Its all your fault!

    1) I bought this bike from a mg service centre/dealer in Qld, Don Newall's. I can only give him two thumbs up for his frankness, honesty and willingness to chat and not fob me off as a *virtual tyre kicker* including touchs like mailing *bubble wrapped* a pannier frame that the transporter had left behind and it arrived the same day the bike did.

    2) First impressions were mixed for me (im going to be brutally honest) the overall style & lines gets a fat 10/10 but the paint combo looks like it needs a serious tweak. The handling feels a little heavy but none the less balanced, I wonder if I came to this conclusion because I planned on finding some ohliin suspension and lighter wheels from the start and this oppinion would justify my descision? On the other hand Ive just spent the last 2 years on a friggen vespa.. I bench press 115kg`s *about the weight of a vespa :) so maybe thats it.

    3) I was down to two bikes *triumph thruxton or ducati sportclassic 1000s* and researching them heavily. Having turned my old 69 triumph tiger into a cafe racer years ago I came across youtube vids of MG cafe racers... add hours of researching models pro's / con's and I came across the V11 and this web site. The sense of community on this web site gave me that extra tweak of confidence that I could learn a modern motor bikes ins and outs well enough to allow me to customise it and care for it.

So id just like to say

    Thank you.

*now if anyone in aus knows where i can lay my hands on some Ohliins feel free to pm me. *keeping in mind it will take a while to generate the purchasing power needed to buy them :)*

I've done almost the same when I bought my bike. Well, I didn't owe one before and went myself to pick it up. Almost a year later, I still enjoy.

Welcome and lots of safe miles!!!

  2. It's settled, then. Send the ohlins to me, and send the shipping bill to Guzzimoto.

    HAHA!

I'm not interested in the ohlins, but where did you get the Marzocchi's from?

TBH I think a modified cateye brake light is more in the lines with the back end then the round brake light. But again in harmony with front light :homer:

  3. So who do we have to knock off to liberate everything to line our pockets? Just where is the money?

There was no money in the first place. Just an air bubble. There was no real value, it was imaginary, etc... It was #@$&@#@ up by the people which handled other peoples money, got their piece of the pie and weren't controlled by the government, but bailed out by the same government.

    It's all a fucking joke.

    Jon Stewart best moments

PS whats with #@$&@#@. Aren't we allowed to curse just a little?

  4. UPDATE

    Another little Winter project completed.

To achieve a compound curve that matched the fairing, I worked it cold over a portable air tank with a heavy rubber hammer. It took 3 coats of matching "red frame" Guzzi red to cover the black it came with.

I came around to the idea that the rough "arteest's interpretation" and the weight of the thing somehow seems to fit "the locomotive of Euro Sport Bikes". I also thought the natural pewter color picks up nicely on the Guzzi silver.

That's about as close to "bling" as anything this Guzzi will ever see.

Thanks for the help, Gents. :mg:

Very nice, I like very much! :D

Too bad I don't have a fairing, now I have too settle with being jealous. I always liked the logo in the 1200 sport and other models.

  5. I also can't help but laugh that he was cut down from his true cinderella story by two of the very few parts he didn't actually make. and he was drinking a budwesier, thats my man

Can you believe the irony in that? Brilliant man. Also a funny part, when he was strain hardening a part of the engine he didn't have enough water. "going to the pool!"

  6. This confirms that the guy is a wacko either way. The scary part about this regressive fascistoid drivel (I guess there's some kind of shit like this in most nations) is that a bit of that is present on a much larger scale. Also while there's something unique about Harley, no doubt (who knows, one day I may give in) the righteous cowboy crap like highwayman's delirium is like a parasitic growth--or more like a symbiotic relationship, as it feeds on Harley and Harley has been feeding on it as well. Good thing Guzzi isn't plagued by this kind of legend.

As for the plane stuff, I couldn't agree more. I hate flying and never feel secure, screw the statistics. However, a buddy who flies his own airplanes had me join him on several flights around the area, which I was happy to do. Both planes were old trainers (like 1947). Those were the only times I really enjoyed flying, and I felt very comortable, despite the fact that I was cramped like hell in the tiny cockpit.

I guess bikes and airplanes like that feel more like living creatures (what's the plural of Pegasus? :)

I agree. Also, why doesn't he stick to harley and what he thinks of it. Yes, harley is unique, just like every other brand it has it's own story. But talking bullshit about others than his own, tells me more about his blindness and no room for reflection and understanding of the others. Kind like all the religions have been doing for ages.

I would also like te fly the Messerschmitt Me 262. Next year at my faculty I will have the opportunity to fly in a little jet airplane (forgot the name, shame on me). The pilot will be dong some maneuvers, looping, roll etc.. And after that, I will have the opportunity to take over the controls for like 5 min. :D

  7. I can feel a poll coming on :P

I suspect that most of us here would choose to fly in a Spitfire (or any WW2 fighter) to a flight in say a Eurofighter or even a ride on the footplate of the Flying Scotsman or Mallard rather than a Bullet Train ?

Yes, I would choose Spitfire and the Flying Scotsman. I like it raw.
