  1. sigh... just send all your sport 1100s or V11s over to New Zealand, and we will test them for you. DD
  2. Hi Peter, Mine is a carb bike. If I take the driveshaft off the bike, and look closely at the U joint, it only has a wee bit of play in the one plane between the U joint and the shaft. This I suspect is the source of the harmonic vibration. Like I say, it is only evident when you are riding between 4000-5000 rpm on downhill gradients in 5th gear. And you feel it right through the whole bike. DD
  3. I have this problem to. It only happens in 5th gear, and only on really flat straight roads, and only between 4pm to 5000 rpm. The only fault I can find is that there is some play where the rear U joint mounts onto the driveshaft. I bought another 2nd hand driveshaft, only to find that it was worse than my original. I've looked really closely at the rear U joint, but I still cannot find out how it is attached to the driveshaft. I know that there are some splines in there somewhere. Other than carefully cutting my spare driveshaft assembly apart to see how it fits together I don't really know how to proceed. Meanwhile, just go faster, that seems to work, or change down to 4th. DD
  4. Yes as per Mr Ropers reply, I require more earths please. I already have one directly from the battery to the regulator. I'm going to add one from the engine block through to the reg as well, and possibly from the gearbox to the battery too.
  5. Tonight I finally proved it that the earth return path is through the gearbox and not the frame... For quite some time I've noticed that my lights flicker when I change gear from 2nd to third. And I especially notice it when I get the change all wrong and get stuck in the false neutral that lurks there. So tonight I rolled up outside my garage and shifted down I saw it happen again, this time where I can test out my theory, so sure enough as you change from 2nd to third the headlamp and idiot lights all go out when the gearbox is just off 2nd gear and beginning to engage 3rd. I had to roll the bike backwards and forwards a few times to get the gears to rotate enough to engage the dogs, but finally my theory is proven. So I'm theorising that the earth return path from the front of the bike to the rear (the battery) goes via the gearbox and not the frame. how do you design a feature like that in? those tricky Italians! I've also noticed that my indicators work when the ignition key is in the park position. I'm not sure why this was done this way. I'm sure I'll find a use for this feature as well. DD
  6. If you're after emulators, the racetech ones are still the best. The YSS ones are copies. However the shocks and spring units are on par with the hagon's and the others in that price bracket.
  7. Hi Raz, I got a 2nd hand driveshaft, and it was worse than my original one. So It's been suggested to me to get the U joint TIG welded onto the shaft. I'm sure there is a was off disassembling it, but I would probably have to destroy one first to see how they fit together. for now I will live with it.....
  8. Hi, Has anyone managed to disassemble the U joint at the fixed end of the Sport 1100 (carb) driveshaft. How do you do it? thanks DD
