  1. blimey, is that all?!? I thought these beauties retailed at about £600 a pair?
  2. I have a pair of oval carbon mistral race cans to go but not a clue what a fair price is. Ideas anyone? Thanks
  3. Thanks for the advice so far chaps. If I decided to upgrade the shock and fork springs, what options are there? I know hyperpro do a combi kit which is available for v11's. Any other recommendations?
  4. Hi all. Probably another SBJ classic thick headed question but here goes.......... question 1 I am going to put the suspension back to the factory settings as quoted in the manual - but don't know which end position to start from. e.g. When talking about the rear shock the manual says.... "Extension (ring-nut A) 20 snaps starting from the completely closed position" ; but what exactly is "closed"?. Obviously the adjusters are marked with a - and a +, so does it mean I have to turn it fully to the end in the - (minus) direction to start with or to the + direction. I am assuming "closed" means start from the - end? question 2 In order to adjust the spring preload you need to take off the side panels which in turn means you need to remove the tank right? question 3 I don't have the factory tool kit - can the spring preload be adjusted without a "special key" that the manual refers to? question 4 Does anyone have any good suggested settings for a 13stoner - normal road riding (I know this depends on so many other factors - but just curious). And just as an aside, I changed from my mistral carbon race cans back to standard today for an MOT on Monday and the noise is now fairly rubbish but it runs SOOOO much smoother. Thanks for any input you beautiful people you.
  5. Evening all, Got home from a lovely ride to see oily streaks on rear tyre Upon inspection I have a very small oil leak. It is coming from the rear transmission box oil filler - but not from the actual hex bolt part. It is seeping out further up - from the join between the hex bolt part and the flat "cap" part (if that makes any sense at all....) So basically - tightening the filler plug has no affect at all. Has anyone else experienced this? Presumably the cure is a new oil filler plug?

  7. Used by previous owners, but not for me. Ballabio handlebar conversion gear for v11 sport. Gold bars, clamps, extended cables etc. Item in UK. pm or email nands2008@btinternet.com
  8. Done a search and read different answers. Can anyone give me the definitive answer? Bar ends - 22m or 7/8? for a v11 sport (2003), or are they so close that both will fit? Thanks

    new owner...

I am also a new V11 owner and just about completed my first 100 miles. I can safely say it's true love. My bike history is: RD125lc (as a young kiddie), Kwak GPz500s, SV650, VFR750, ZX9-r, FJR1300, Monster s4r, Fireblade 954rr3, BMWr1150gs (oh dear) and finally the V11. The VFR was great. The Fireblade was brilliant, but the V11 is completely excellent and one that I intend to keep for much much longer than my usual year (or few weeks in one case!). Last night when I got home from work, I even rolled it out of the garage just so I could look at it from the kitchen window as I had a cup of coffee.
  10. Thanks for the replies so far chaps Certainly agree about needing to be in second rather than third in town - but in that gear, the surging / "jerkiness" is even worse. I think there is a place fairly close to me with a good reputation with Guzzi's, so I may well get them to check the balance etc. I will also look into the crossover business. But for the moment, just going to enjoy the ride
  11. Hello all, My 2003 was delivered Tuesday night and managed to get out for a first decent blast of around 60 miles yesterday. Didn't really play around too much with the suspension beforehand and felt pretty good, but will have more time to play with this at the weekend. Would be interested to know if Moto Guzzi publish "stock" or Standard figures to use as a baseline. I have found data for the rear in the workshop manual but not for the front? Really enjoyed the ride. Need to get used to giving it some gas to get away, as I nearly stalled a couple of times (used to inline fours ). It certainly felt great over the 4000rpm mark. I have mistral cans fitted (everything else is standard) and the sound was awesome. I have turned down the steering damper almost to miniumum and the steering was precise and fairly quick but it was still very planted and settled. My only slight concern at the moment is the surging / juddering ride at lower speeds / revs. Almost like a fueling issue at around 30mph in 2nd or 3rd. The bike kind of momentarly pulls away then pulls back. I used to experience a very similar thing on my ducati monster s4r - and lots of people solved this by fitting a 15T front sprocket. I would be interested to know what people do with their V11's - assuming that it is a normal characteristic of the motor. Would a power commander help smooth it out? or should I be looking at other solutions? The vibes issue didn't seem to be as bad as I thought they would be. I have however, ordered some grip puppies because I find the actual diameter of the grip too small and would prefer a bit more cushioning. I am also going to try to fill the bars with shot and get heavier bar ends - but if I cant get hold of them, then I could live with it as it is. All in all it is really good to have a bike again that has a bit of character. I actaully felt like I was riding something. It looks beautiful, it sounds amazing and this one is a definite keeper.
  12. Mine moves backwards and forwards a little bit as if the mounting bolt has worked loose resulting in this play. Should it do this? Hs it shaken loose a little and the bolts need tightening up, or is it designed to do this. Sorry if indeed it is a stupid question but it is new to me and I have only just taken delivery of it. What a beautiful bike!
  13. Greetings to all. I am taking delivery of a silver '03 v11 naked on Tuesday next week and can't wait to get my hands on it and hear those mistral cans again. I was wondering if anyone could help with a couple of questions in the meantime. First of all, I really like the idea of bar end mirrors. I was wondering if anyone had any particular recommendations? Also, the previous owner has given me a ballabio handlebar conversion kit which I wont want or need and will sell on, but havn't a clue how much they are worth. Any ideas? And am I right in thinking that in order to do this conversion you have to machine the top yoke? roll on Tuesday....
  14. It was love at first sight and I want one. Has to be in great condition. Reasonably low mileage. Naked / bikini faired. Silver / Red OR a Rosso Mandello. With Good service history. Cash waiting! Cheers!
