  1. thanks everyone,

asked the guy at my local dealer today (who's is a bit of a guru and fixer of my bodges) and he reckons it will fit, but is quite anti PC's. He mention's that he has a better piece of software that now that can read / adjust throttle bodies more accurately via the standard ecu, so may look into that as well.

    Will keep you updated

  2. Hi everyone,

Have found a Power Commander 3 for sale in the UK. Model number is 706-411. It's for a MY2000/01 V11, but I'm wondering if it will fit my Tenni. Can anyone let me know if they have this model number fitted to a later V11

    Thanks

  3. Finally got the FBF filter kit fitted...

Import from US was via US Postal Service and can be tracked online (in case anyone else from the UK is thinking of getting one).. My local Guzzi dealer had never seen one before..

Have to admit; it is noisy. Haven't had it on the dyno yet, so will have to see if it's positive or negative gains in the temperate Essex climate!

Thanks for the replies and tips for my original post.

  4. Hello,

Thanks for the reply (and the other stuff under my 'tank removal' post)

Can't wait to 'feel the difference' with front and rear sorted!

Have you gone the same (maxton) route?

    Cheers!

  5. Rookie Mistake?

Have had a delve into the archives, but couldn't find a related topic (maybe it's because it's so easy?).

I was planning to remove my tank yesterday. I followed the workshop manual, but when I undid the RH hose clip I started leaking fuel. Further inspection revealed that the pressure adjuster does appear to be a tap (at least I could turn the lever at the base, but I'm not sure if this is the case.

I know the tank was off when the bike was serviced earlier in the year, so i'm assuming it's a simple job.

Just want to be able to do it without getting fuel all over the garage floor.

    V11 Tenni btw

Thanks for any help and apologies if this IS a really stupid question!

  6. Another long overdue update.

Had my forks rebuilt and a new shock by Maxton.

Forks are back on, but i'm debating whether to fit the shock myself for two reasons:

Tank Removal: is there a way to do this without getting petrol over me and the bike?

Torque settings: I spent half a day printing out the owners manual and part catalogue from the tractor guy (very useful), but compared to other WSM's I have used (not Haynes, hemanufacturer ones) I am frustrated by the lack of info around torque settings. I refitted the forks and front assemblies working on similar numbers to my other bikes.

Does anyone have the recommended settings for the kind of stuff you find yourself always doing, e.g. wheels, calipers etc. ??

  7. A long overdue postscript to my original post..

I went to my local dealer (Newcombe Bros in Chelms ford) and told em' about the problem. Turns out I had a stuck valve! Says a lot about the engine that it was still running well enough to run at speeds of up to 100 without complaint. They fixed it easy enough and the hose issue is no more. Plus the bike is running much better..

Wouldn't have had a clue until taking it in, so I figure i'm going to keep my home maintenance to the stuff I can see!

  8. thanks for the replies guys... much appreciated

I have used k and n's on previous bikes (and cars) and always felt they were a cost effective mod.

I'm planning to fit a power commander as well and will feedback on any dyno work on the original thread once that's done. I figure I can always go back to the standard air box if I need to.

I'm also interested to see if I get a similar effect to carb icing with this mod, as I have suffered this on cars and bikes (more so at night). Of course this might not be an issue with throttle bodies / efi I guess?

  9. Hi Skeeve,

I did do a search yeh.. Have read the various pinned posts (e.g. pods v filter mods). I was assuming that it would fit., but as it's going to involve me importing it from the US, I wanted to make certain.

I have read Ivan Falloon's Guzzi History and one thing that does come across is that their were small mods each year to the V11. I'm also finding that while there are quite a few 'hop up' parts available for the 1064cc engine, they are more often than not listed for the V11 sport only. I'm quite happy to email a supplier and ask them if a part will fit my Tenni, but I would hope that asking for feedback on here would help me corroborate the info also.

Hope that has established me as not too lazy now

  10. Good idea.. it's only been an issue since I wound the idle on a bit.

Have checked out new hose and / or clips though. I reckon I can run to £1.70 for a new clip.

  11. Since the Tenni had the same stock suspension as the first generation V11 Sport models, any of the upgrades available for any V11 Sport variant will work. Rear shock replacements are generally a same-for-same bolt on affair, but some front suspension changes may require modifications to axles, bearings, etc. It just depends.

I'd do a search on the main forums for "shocks", "forks", and also check out Guzzi Tech to see what Todd is currently offering.

    Al

Thanks Al, will look into those. The Guzzitech website is useful. Could do with some of these stores / resources in the UK!

  12. I have a persistent problem with the RH hose from the throttle body to the air box (at the throttle body end) working loose. Any suggestions on a fix?

    Loctite?

    New clip?

  13. Any recommendations / suggestions to upgrade the suspension on my tenni?

It already has a hagon shock (not fitted by me), which I am thinking of getting rebuilt with a heavier spring and remote resivior, but I am wondering about the forks.

As there the adjusters for rebound and compression are seperate, does this mean their is a spring in one fork and a damper in the other or are they conventional. Dependent on the answer it's likely to make a big difference to how much I need to budget for.

    Any guidance gratefully accepted!

  14. thanks for all of the advice!

sorting out the idle is a quick fix for the next day off!

I am tending to keep the bike in second around town which is good for about 4500 rpm and unless i'm on a motorway (read interstate) I like to keep the engine singing...

    again, thanks for the advice!

  15. Read a few of the posts on here about oil pressure... hoping this is the simple problem / solution!

My V11 Tenni has a pretty low idle (about 8 - 900 rpm) and on a short run often needs a bit of choke to run. I also found that the bike would stall as I came up to a stop light. The oil pressure light would flicker at the same time.

A couple of weeks ago, I had been out for a ride and the oil pressure light came on. It didn't flicker this time, but stayed on so I was thinking all sorts of impending disaster. Anyway I give it a handful and the light goes out. Soon as I take the throttle off, its goes on again... and so on etc.

I checked the oil when I got in and stuck in about two litres. I have only had the bike a few months and have covered about 800 miles or so. The bike seemed to ride a lot better as a result.

All's been good until this weekend. Did about 150 miles on the bike and I got the same thing (cutting out at a stop, although no flickering light); full on oil pressure light at idle, which went out when I revved it.

I cant imagine the bikes using that much oil, its certainly not burning any, so is it:

A - Faulty oil pressure sender

B - idle needs turning up a bit

    C - something else

    Any suggestions welcome!

  16. update to the thread...

I lucked on to a local guy who has made up some bar ends for me in stainless...

probably best to describe these as prototypes as the original plan of mounting them on the the bar insert was compromised by needing to refit the O ring and cotter pin. This has left more of the insert showing than we would have preferred, but know we know this any more we get made would sit up to the grip.

There's no way of nipping up the allen bolt unless the cotter pin stays in situ.

hopefully will attach a pic, but if that fails can email one over to anyone thats interested.

cost compares well with throttlemeisters, particularly when there's no VAT or shipping to pay...

  17. I don't have a Tenni, but I have heavy bar ends from Moto International on my v11 sport. They work!

Send Greg Field a PM, he works at Moto International, and he's a regular contributor to this board.

    /Steffen, Denmark

Steffen... Thanks for this... will check this out also. Had a look at the Salamander website yesterday... Only downside is that they're in the US, but I guess they would ship to UK....

Seeing someone local to me about an issue with my throttle on Sunday. He builds Harley powered Cafe Racers (hogbitz), so i'm going to speak to him also about the possibility of machining some for me..

Thanks for the posts / recommendations so far!

  18. that's good going...

the guys at moto strada had just sold another tenni with 25K on it before I got mine, so guess they're up to the mileage...

haven't researched any hop up parts yet... is there anywhere in the uk you recommend?
