  1. Thank`s to all the useful info from all here at the v11lemans.com, and from all at the Norwegian MG club forum, I decided to sell my first MG, a Jackal, and buy a v11.

To my knowledge, the Scura R is the last version that Moto Guzzi made of the v11-series. It`s the sister of Cafe Sport and Coppa Italia.

If you want an original black colour v11 Sport with the Öhlins-bits, this is the closest you get.

Some say only 40 was made, and some say only 18 was made. The number 18 comes from reliable sources in Italy, so I choose to believe 18 is the correct number
I`s referred to as a limited edition several places, but there is no limited number on the bike.

    Mine has VIN: ZGUKTB0104M111886

I spent about 18 months looking in Germany, France and Italy for a decent Cafe Sport, not knowing there was a Scura R too. And then, in january 2010, on mobile.de, I saw for the first time, a black v11 with a red seat. After much googling, I understood that this was a very rare bike, and that I should go for it.

It was first registered january 2005 by the dealer Peter Lamparth in Boll, Germany. I bought it from the second owner, Fritz, in Stuttgart in may 2010, with 22.000km. I rode it home myself.

I do not expect that much action going on here really (due to the extremely limited numbers Scura R`s in the world  ), but Scura R-owners, please feel free to registre.

  2. Scura R registry wanted!

It`s the sister of Coppa Italia and Cafe Sport, and they both have a dedicated registry.

Scura R should have her own. Not sure why, but sure! Maby because it is ( I believe) the v11 that is hardest to find. Some (italians) say only 18 was made...

  3. Hello manuel

Beautiful! Do you get acceptable wind protection with the fairing and the handle bars? I also could have liked this fairing on my Scura R. Easy paintjob for my bike too! Just need to find a black one and add a red stripe above the headlight.

Manuel, how much work and what parts to buy?

  4. For some reason my right headpipe cracked all open, about 3 cm from the end(the mounting on the engine), using these steel shims. I changed them in July or August, and rode it very few kms until this happened. Maby more tension on the pipes using these solid shims?

It happened in September, some miles before I boarded the ferry from Gothenburg to Kiel, on my way from Norway to Mandello. Not the best start on my trip! It was late and no garages open, and also I had no time for repair before boarding. I really made some noise inside the ferry.

I had planned to visit Polo in Kiel to buy a new rainsuit, and there was an auto garage just next door, "Stop and go". I was lucky, they could weld, so I went and bought the rainsuit, and the pipe was fixed when I returned! And he absolutely refused to take my money!

The weld is holding up just fine. And the steel shims are still in. And my engine is now completely cured of any sneezing, rough running and is all smooth, also +-3000rpm. What a bike!

Anyone else had problems using these shims? Maby one should wait with the hard tightening of the pipes until after running the engine for some time.

  5. I`m going!

Riding Norway-Gothenburg, ferry to Kiel, riding Kiel-Hamburg, Autozug Hamburg-Munchen, riding Munchen-Messkirch, and linking up with Teo Lamers group for the ride to Italy.

    Looking for a hotel room?

My norwegian travel companion had to cancel(my reason for change of plans and taking the Autozug), so maby his hotel room is still available. Try the hotel Albergo Della Salute, or ask Teo Lamers if they have any last minute cancellations for the trip-and therefor also hotel cancellations.

Maby I`ll see you around! But how?

  6. Hey? Just what the heck are you wanting? You say, 'when progressing through the gears up to 3,000rpm' - just how low do you expect to go with your revs? You've got the factory race ECU - whaddya expect man?

I also ride a 1000cc Kawasaki and can roll the throttle on in top gear from 2,000rpm without any "indifference", so I wanted an insight into the experiences of others to validate what I'd been told.

I can do thay with my Scura R too. Had some popping +-3000 when i bought it last year, but after a good balancing/tuning during the winterstorage it pulls from 2000 without problems. It feels strong on low revs, but I usually stay 3000 and up.

If it feels strong on low revs, why is it still bad?

Mine is all standard. Would like more noise, but otherwise very satisfied.
