  2. One of the 8 pistons on my front Brembo's is sticky/almost seized (top right). Will not move back despite applying considerable levered force but will move forwards a little when using brakes. As its winter I will take caliper to bits, anyone know what size service kit to buy. Can't seem to find caliper details in manual. Andrew
  3. Thanks for reply. I managed to replicate this fitting by raiding my spares basket. Also managed to find 2 s/s exhaust brackets so everything is now fitted and the bike sounds beautiful. The TPS and TB's had recently been set up with standard cans, no effect with new cans, runs ok. Really must look at suspension now as its very soft front and back!
  4. I am in the middle of fitting Mistral exhaust and crossover. I have removed the entire existing system. The standard crossover fits onto the frame of the bike with a simple peg mounted on a lug. I cannot get this peg off the crossover to fit it onto the new crossover. Anyone any experience here? The peg has a bolt head on top but only a round peg underneath. It sandwiches a rubber mount. Also all 4 exhaust brackets (2 on crossover, 2 on silencers) seem to be fixed to their respective component rather than free to come off and exchange onto the new system? Are they supposed to come off? Wonder if I am being a bit of a wus. Cheers Andrew
  5. Ok do we call the alloy mouldings lamb chops or pork chops? Either way I need to remove mine (2000 V11 in silver with red chops) because the red paint has kind of crazed and I want to remove the factory paint and respray. If the bike is supported on a Abba stand or similar, how do I get the chops off? Or can I just take them off with the bike on its side stand? Cheers Andrew
  6. Thanks Guzzirider, when I have the overhaul kit, is the method of removal of the seized piston as I described, albeit with some other releasing agent? Also loving the look of your cafe racer!!!!!
  7. Hi - one of my pistons is seized, a bit strange as I have had the bike 3 years and reckon it has been seized all the time. Bike gets used very little so I guess I have got used to slightly rotten brakes. I have never fiddled with callipers before, apart from changing pads and bleeding. I propose to remove the calliper from the bike, tie back the 3 good pistons to prevent them from moving, soak the offending piston for about a week with wd40 or similar, then try to wiggle the piston free using molegrips, being careful not to damage the piston or calliper. Any thoughts? Will this work do you think?
  8. Cheers guys, I am off to Zante for a week now, your replies have given me other avenues to explore! I will update on any progress made. Andrew
  9. Its gearbox oil, really smelly stuff. Sounds like engine out then.......probably off to Corsa Italiano
  10. Hi I have had my V11 for 3 years now, it had a gearbox leak when I bought it, and sure enough it still leaks now. From time to time I top up the oil and all is well. The bike gets very little use, I like to look at it and polish it and occasionally go for a blat. I now have some nice Mistral cans to fit but won't do this until the leak is fixed as the oil drips onto the exhaust crossover section under what I think is the clutch housing? Am I right in saying the clutch housing is dry and therefore the gearbox oil is leaking into this area through an internal seal? Is it possible to fix this problem with the engine in the bike or does it have to be removed? I am thinking about taking the bike to Corsa Italiana to fix and sort out the TPS and change the clutch fluid as I cannot free up the bleed nipple on the back of the engine. Andrew
  11. Trev, I used to live a stones throw from Oakdene, noe just a few miles from Headcorn (sorry to hear about your friend). We get down to Wessons cafe a few times a year, Rye also, so meeting up is definately on the cards!! Really pleased with the responses to my thread, I will get stuck in and have a go myself as I have lots of time at present. I'll keep posting. Happy New Year Andrew
  12. Thanks for the offer, I am in Kent so not really handy for you. I have a couple of jobs to do on the Imola to get it ready for MOT, meantime I'll do a search on this site for tips on how to check throttle sync and TPS. Andrew
  13. Thanks chaps, I will start with throttle body sync and TPS check - probably go to a dealer as I am not sure I have the expertise or tools for the job. The bike currently has standard exhaust and silencers but I have a Mistral crossover and carbon silencers to fit in the spring - wahoo can't wait. Hopefully will get some more miles on the bike in 2012. Happy New Year Andrew
  14. Hi, I've had my fairly standard bike for just over 2 years. Hardly used it really, one thing and another, you know how it is. Its covered around 20,000 miles, in reasonable condition. Problem - misfire/cough at low revs when moving slowly, mostly when in traffic. From closed throttle engine will almost die then cough back into life. On tickover it sometimes does it as well, last MOT the test engineer commented on it. Very unnerving. Ridden fast you don't notice anything. Its quite intermittent which is annoying. I have changed original relays, fuel filter, plugs and leads. I've read a lot about TPS in FAQ etc but not really sure this is the problem? Also vibration through the bars is severe until you get to about 75mph then smooths out - is this normal? Many thanks Andrew

    2000 V11 Sport

Hi, After some fiddly bits for my V11. I have a flappy clutch lever, it moves up and down and will open wider than a hand span because the steel spring which wraps around the lever has snapped. Anyone got a spare? Also the left mirror was snapped off when I bought the bike - the remaining thread is nicely rusted into the clutch lever bracket. Anyone got a spare bracket (could also do with a pair of mirrors if anyone has changed theirs? Cheers Andrew
